Loved the bit where Stevie described the taser spot second by second. It's really interesting to hear about the effect of times slowing down, timing, and all the little thoughts about where to look and when to get up and "calling the audible" that he should pick you up. I especially love hearing about conversation in the ring, besides the obvious calling of spots when you do some chain wrestling.

My 2¢ comment: That visual and sound effect you used after watching the clip off camera can be a great way to do segment transitions. The comparison ratings have a lot of potential as weekly segments. You could then end the show with a "match/move" breakdown on the smart board at the start of the last third of the show so that you can close with a discussion of the breakdown. James pushing back/challenging on ratings is perfect for the show aspect. Probably the most standout part of the show for me. The software thing worked, but the round bubble icons were distracting. Same here! I was on the phone talking to a friend from college. We were reminiscing about ordering Dominos pizza to our dorm rooms. Shortly after that I started getting ads on my Facebook, Google, and UA-cam about Dominos, Papa John's, Little Caesar's, and Pizza Hut. **You know, I never had a problem with Logan Paul.** I do see how Stevie is rating Nash. He isn't comparing him to Bret. He's probably comparing him with other "big guys" whereas Bret Hart is a different class of wrestler. For a 7 footer Nash knows his craft. It's the equivalent to comparing Martin Scorsese as a director to James Cameron. They make different movies, but are both efficient, visionary directors. They are different qualities of 10.

It's funny how the thoughts and feelings of especially one Rock have changed over the years. Even being unaware in those days of CTE and head/brain injuries in general it was hard to watch even back then. One match I will never watch again as stated by many
What I would Like for future reviews/analyses of newer matches/spots, is for both of you to watch the entire Match before talking about it. Just like Stevie always preaches context and psychology of something within the match's boundaries is super important and I Do believe your takes would be more precise and insightful. ^^ Not knocking the general opinions, just trying to improve the product :) (Btw i agree that they should've done only one of those hardcore spots as the Finish, to not deminish the rest
I don't agree with all of Stevie's takes on modern wrestling, but he damn sure has good taste in TV shows. That Highlander series from back in the day was so well written and well executed.
As a fan, I'd be more invested in a match where two wrestlers are frantically swinging at each other with wild haymakers, or at least making it appear to the audience that these guys are engaged in a fight. A worked version of the Don Frye/Takayama fight from PRIDE FC essentially. No objects, no hardcore/horror movie spots, just two Pro Wrestlers having a believable scuffle in the ring. Just imagine, two dudes throwing down in the ring, commentary is completely hushed (which sells the moment as if it's real), and they're still going at it when the match is over. Prompting security to jump in and separate the two. THAT would be something special in this day and age.
I actually like Stevie's reasoning behind Nash having a 10 for working, though I wouldn't have scored it the same myself. The idea of "You do what you can well and don't do what you can't" reminds me of what Paul said in the old ECW doc about "eccentuate the positives ignore the negatives". I think him bringing up Kane during that was perfect too because that was what made Kane awesome for me growing up. The things he could do were marvelous and so much so that I wouldn't stop to think about how he's not some Dean Malenko level grappler, cause why does he need to be? 10 might be too much imo, but I entirely get the reasoning it's what makes wrestling awesome that someone can be cool for being Ricochet or Minoru Suzuki and neither of them have to do what the other does ever. ALSO. Did I catch him saying Balls ZIP TIED the chairs? How do I not remember this at all.
That cinder block spot had the possibility of turning into the same thing as Michaels screwing up his back on that coffin match spot years ago. Might not be a good idea to be doing back bump spots on the small of your back. Turns out Swerve is a CZW alumni too so that tracks that he's agree to do these stupid spots. One day the Khan man will realize his booking sucks.
Love the content my favorite match is HBK vs Taker , Hell n a cell, Bad Blood , I am so entertain by everything I was inspired when it was live and I recently just watched it again I can do the whole match .I love how Shawn uses the bottom rope to slingshot himself from the turnbuckle to compliment the Undertakers Strength later Shawn finds a opening to stay in the match before you know it Shawn is getting leverage but the Camera man gets in the way then Shawn gets frustrated and Ko the cameraman than attempts to finish the Undertaker while Slaughter the commissioner orders the cell to open to get the camera man to emergency but Taker than Hulks up after the finisher so Shawn freaks out to get away from Taker than the cage is open so Shawn tries to escape but Taker catches Shawn than get Shawn in a position to slingshot Shawn against the fence you can see Shawn cutting his forehead before the slingshot than brialliantely Shawn gets the blood Flow right when he hits the cage than he is busted open that was awesome than Shawn is selling how hurt he his than gets on top of the cage to get thrown down to miss the table to hurt his back on the floor than for Kane to show up to tombstone Taker for Shawn to crawl from his own blood to get the victory to be carried out by Hunter and Chyna with the victory its still my favorite mach .
Swerve vs Hangman is a blood feud that includes home invasion, hanging, drinking someone's blood, stalking, doxing Hangman had a 2nd kid and burning down a house. I get that the syringe spot was prob unnecessary but I think in relation to the feud and Hangman's character it worked. Was it gruesome and disgusting? Yes, was it memorable? Also yes
According to wikipedia (so put whatever value into it as you want) the first recorded use of the term "12th man", referring to fan support, was in a University of Minnesota magazine from 1900.
Stevie, Dutch and several others said 'why was the cage involved' and that I agree with. What use did it have? all the big spots didn't involve it and as a whole did the match change if you removed the cage? If you want to just do a match with no rules just do it, but the cage was just useless in this particular match.
Btw what Hogan said about Benoit is unfortunately not really out of touch. I encounter praise for Chris often online despite what he did. Some people genuinely overlook it to put over his work. I believe that is what Hulk was referencing. 🤷♂️
Honky Tonk Man : "Bret Hart didn't liked working with me because I don't hit hard enough. Well, Bret, how was working with Bill Goldberg? Was it great? Cuz he damn sure hit you hard enough."
Rip swerves L-4 L-5 have fun convincing yourself that horrible leg pain is just sciatica 😂 Shaved down chair 😂 Ive seen people get concussions from a pool noodle at 80mph
The problem is they do this so often the audience has become so desensitised to the levels of violence that they have to keep getting more mental bumps in order to get a reaction from the crowd. The chair shot to the head finish with as gimmicked chair as you can get would be an alright finish as a 1 off for such a blood feud if you saw it once maybe once every couple of years & it immediately ends the fight, yet we have already seen it twice in the last 3 months. The cinder block wasn't an issue but again it was the stupid bumps that they took with it, when WWE used it Seth curb stomped Ambrose, and either the block was gimmicked that it had no real structure or he broke the block with his foot while Ambrose just takes a standard face bump. When TNA did it, they used a clearly gimmick block & Kross broke it with his fist & even death match guys generally do the block between the legs and break it with a hammer etc. The needle stuff was just completely stupid.
I thought this was a good use of the tablet instead of the smart board. For my two cents, it’s cool for writing and filling out columns but the smart board is better for the bumps and stuff.
Is there going to be an overly-long "Sh*t Kevin Nash Says" segment in every Stevie Richards and Dutch show episode? It's fine if talking points from other podcasts are kept brief, although it's a bit lazy to pull content from other talking heads ALL OF THE TIME; I just think too much time is spent on it.
@@whoistherealmonster4939 Trying to be WWE will never work, being an attractive and consistent alternative is the way to go. However doing stupid stuff that will antagonize an already dwindling audience is just stupidity. If you don't cater to newer fans, your numbers will always go down overtime especially if you're doing dumb stuff constantly.
Totally agree with you 100% on both comments. I really don't know what it will take for Tony to let get go and admit that he needs help desperately. Even the greatest promoter of all time Vince McMahon recognized that he wasn't good at everything and needed to trust that other people could do things for him like creative, talent relations, negotiating with potential partners etc. What TK is doing right now simply isn't working. He needs to stop throwing money at on-screen talent and invest that money into rebuilding the company inside and out. A change of approach is needed and if he can't or doesn't know how to do that, delegate to others who know what they're doing.
31:50 kind of a false equivalency comparison in my view. nash, hall, shawn, waltman... they all had to run the circuit and make the house shows at some point. they had their nose in the crap before they tasted the glory, whatever they ended up doing with it. logan got to walk right in. feels like stevie is stretching.
A lot of wrestlers in the 70s and 80s were "part-timers", and that even includes Hogan. Hogan didn't defend the title every night. For example: Andre was a part-timer Abdullah the Butcher was a part-timer They were special attractions that only appeared on so many dates.
Most fans obviously can't forgive what Benoit did but, in the sphere of wrestling, they also don't want the body of his work to be scrubbed from history largely for the notion of "separating the art from the artist." I think there's also the fact that not having him in the historical wrestling discussion also leaves the work of the guys he wrestled with large gaps in their careers we also can't talk about because of what he did. And all the tall tales Hogan's been telling and his foot-in-mouth moments nowadays, I just ignore it, that's my personal instance of separating the art from the artist. I don't care what he does now in his twilight years as long as he's not actively hurting anyone, golden age 80s WWF is my nostalgic place in wrestling and I won't pretend that I was never a huge mark for him as a kid.
They can separate art and artist for a man who offed his wife and son. Yet they're unable to look past Hogan saying a word. What Hogan said is true, in a certain way, they forgave Benoit by trying their best to sugarcoat what he did or even saying Sillivan did it.
About feeling the time, i just seen a clip with Steven Amell on Chris Van Vliet saying Triple H told him to slow down then slow down some more and if ythre posite you're going slow enough slow down more or something along those lines.
For me on promos, a true test to someone that can earn a '10' is if you hand them a mic, out of nowhere, and tell them a date, town and opponent and tell them to do a 2 minute promo and they pull it off. Nash, I think I can pull it off. Paul, maybe. Nod to Nash.
The Jake thing is wild. There's absolutely no way that guitar was gimmicked, you need only look at the spot. "It was so gimmicked we were asking people not to touch it"? Does the man think we've not got eyes or something? He literally bounced it off Jake's head with every ounce of strength he had and it still took two more shots while he was on the ground to get the back to break away, the damn guitar sold like a prime Great Antonio...
Every other question starts with :"i don't know, if you have ever been,..." Dude, is it so impossible to prepare for the 6 questions you are about to ask? I'm here for Stevie, because he is awesome, i quess as long as he works with Jonathan, or James or Jack, i'm stuck with him too, but he could at least try.
James is a total mark. Can't stand any of his interviews. Guy has the gall to try to grandstand Russo on burnouts, Russo that had concussions leading to chronic insomnias and anxiety attacks. Screw him.
Stevie likes him a lot and they're very collaborative in the making of this show, so James certainly does not need to go. He's got his own opinions and perspectives and Stevie gives the more unbiased and technical critique of the topics being discussed. I see no problem with the conflicting approaches to the material🤷🏻♂️. It's almost like a fan perspective vs a professionals perspective. That helps make the show work in my opinion.
@@christopheraikens597 you're not completely wrong, but in the case of all these wrestling podcasts, people are tuning in for the wrestling veteran, not the host. you can find fan opinions all over youtube and social media. the focus is always on the perspective of the veteran because that's the rarity - you can find a million "fan opinions" literally anywhere else.
Idk. But I remember Hulk saying the Benoit thing in relation to fans being able to forgive Logan... Is it possible that you guys are just reading a transcript that doesn't differentiate who said what? Perhaps it's Logan saying "so why not me" after HH's point. The context was definitely about people hating Logan for real.
How did you never meet Hogan, Stevie? You guys were on Smackdown at the same time to my recollection, so you must have crossed paths at least a handful of times. I know you mentioned in TNA dealing with him and his ridiculous "I need $2 million a year to live" comment. Stevie was always one of my favorites growing up in the 90's, but he is even cooler as an individual hearing him talk about all of this. Also, I can 100% relate to the subtitles comment lol...it makes no sense when people are adamant about "no subtitles". I can also relate on the swearing aspect of things. I used to swear up a storm, but I go out of my way not to now because you just feel stupider when every other word is "F-that" or "That's a piece of-S". It's distracting when people are using those words every 2 or 3 other words.
They do beds of nails, cacti, bridge gussets, the sticks in the head deal, syringes and garbage crap in Big Japan Wrestling, including 1,000 light tubes and a cage with light tubes. I think they've even done piranha in an aquarium and crap as well. It's just needless garbage.
Logan's talented in ring & I personally enjoy his matches, he's been able to learn a lot fast, & he was already hated before he stepped foot in WWE so he makes a great heel. World champ tho? Not in my opinion. Nothing more than US, IC, or Tag Team. Dude walked right in the business & got pushed right away with a lengthy US title run as a part timer, those old school guys really went thru hard times to make it & there's a lot of guys that never were too successful even tho they had all the talent in the world & put in the work. Paul don't know enough, especially if he honestly don't know who Nash is & in my opinion he should show more respect to the business & the ones that paved the way before him. All Logan brings is flips & boo's from the crowd, whether you like Kevin or not Logan's still got a long way to go before he's even close to being on Nash's level.

The too far nail was hammered in when The Rock almost killed Mankind with 11 chairshots and a shitload of blood.
yeah, even to this day that one is hard to watch
I've seen the entirely of that match years ago, and to this day, I haven't nor will NEVER revisit it. It was brutal to watch.
It's funny how the thoughts and feelings of especially one Rock have changed over the years. Even being unaware in those days of CTE and head/brain injuries in general it was hard to watch even back then. One match I will never watch again as stated by many
@Brian316G Yeah, the Rock did that over 20 years ago. Swerve/Page did that in 2024.
I hated that. Mick was handcuffed, running away and Rock stayed pelting him.
What I would Like for future reviews/analyses of newer matches/spots, is for both of you to watch the entire Match before talking about it. Just like Stevie always preaches context and psychology of something within the match's boundaries is super important and I Do believe your takes would be more precise and insightful. ^^
Not knocking the general opinions, just trying to improve the product :)
(Btw i agree that they should've done only one of those hardcore spots as the Finish, to not deminish the rest
12th man. Bears fan here. Also Paul is very entertaining to watch imo. Keep on and much love.
From a former Hogan fan, I think nowadays he lies so much you think he's got a DDT with every leg drop he's dune.

STEVIE RICHARDS TURNS HEAL BY HEALING ON HIMSELF
Stevie CVV. 6 feet under has me occupied.
THAT would be something special in this day and age.
edge was in the tv movie, highlander : endgame quick lil cameo
Why don't you say that about the slegedhammer to the head that guys take in WWE then wrestle the next night?
This is a really stupid counter argument @@CeemPlay
@TheRealGothicBarbie you're right.
Everything you said resonates..

Tony khan sees no problem with his booking, and never will..😢
@CeemPlay the sledgehammers are rubber and they usually cup their hand over it

Love the content my favorite match is HBK vs Taker , Hell n a cell, Bad Blood , I am so entertain by everything I was inspired when it was live and I recently just watched it again I can do the whole match .I love how Shawn uses the bottom rope to slingshot himself from the turnbuckle to compliment the Undertakers Strength later Shawn finds a opening to stay in the match before you know it Shawn is getting leverage but the Camera man gets in the way then Shawn gets frustrated and Ko the cameraman than attempts to finish the Undertaker while Slaughter the commissioner orders the cell to open to get the camera man to emergency but Taker than Hulks up after the finisher so Shawn freaks out to get away from Taker than the cage is open so Shawn tries to escape but Taker catches Shawn than get Shawn in a position to slingshot Shawn against the fence you can see Shawn cutting his forehead before the slingshot than brialliantely Shawn gets the blood Flow right when he hits the cage than he is busted open that was awesome than Shawn is selling how hurt he his than gets on top of the cage to get thrown down to miss the table to hurt his back on the floor than for Kane to show up to tombstone Taker for Shawn to crawl from his own blood to get the victory to be carried out by Hunter and Chyna with the victory its still my favorite mach .
aew,tk,and the people supporting things like the syringe spot have literally lost thier minds
Lol the Swerve Hangman reaction 😂😂😂
Stevie, love Highlander the series! One of my favorites.
Love the show stevie you and James are a perfect team
I'm glad Stevie is doing good after his wrestling career
Highlander: The Series was what I watched on USA Network along with Monday Night Raw back in the day!
Stevie, Dutch and several others said 'why was the cage involved' and that I agree with. What use did it have? all the big spots didn't involve it and as a whole did the match change if you removed the cage? If you want to just do a match with no rules just do it, but the cage was just useless in this particular match.
That Logan Paul/Kevin Nash thing is clearly a work to keep Logan Paul relevant to WWE while he isn't performing.
I heard HHH texted Nash and said stick one on the Logan Paul
Love the Joker reference from ‘Batman’ (1989).
i think you should put more respect on logan pauls in ring heel promo. he's better than a lot of the heels and more believable so if he's a 2 ....
Awesome show boys!
12th man is a cricket thing, the substitute fielder. I know of this because of the comedy bits by Billy Birmingham.
Adam Copeland was in the fourth Highlander movie which was a crossover between the Highlander TV series and the Highlander movies.
1:33:00 a baking sheet thinner
A steel chair thicker
Btw what Hogan said about Benoit is unfortunately not really out of touch. I encounter praise for Chris often online despite what he did. Some people genuinely overlook it to put over his work. I believe that is what Hulk was referencing. 🤷♂️
Highlander TV series is absolutely awesome. And Edge was in the fourth movie which was called Highlander Endgame!
Bret Hart once told me Bill Goldberg had a hell of a super kick
Honky Tonk Man : "Bret Hart didn't liked working with me because I don't hit hard enough. Well, Bret, how was working with Bill Goldberg? Was it great? Cuz he damn sure hit you hard enough."
Super effective
It’s just ridiculous how they chose to finish with a chair instead of the fricken cinderblock
Besides the needle, I loved the match.
Rip swerves L-4 L-5 have fun convincing yourself that horrible leg pain is just sciatica 😂
Shaved down chair 😂 Ive seen people get concussions from a pool noodle at 80mph
I have crushed L3 L4 from a bike accident, pinches sciatic nerve. It's more pain then you
Could think
AEW needs a major revamp company wide, starting with creative.
wont happen. they havent hit rock bottom yet
so to be WWE 2.0 ?
@@gazb2740 agree , but they need to keep doing hardcore stuff , that's a part of being the alternative.
For example:
Andre was a part-timer
Abdullah the Butcher was a part-timer
They were special attractions that only appeared on so many dates.
Social Security on a pole match 😂😂😂 lmfao

Danielson should bring in that guy that tapped Mox in that local BJJ tournament to get revenge!
I'm here for Stevie, because he is awesome, i quess as long as he works with Jonathan, or James or Jack, i'm stuck with him too, but he could at least try.
james: "i don't want to seem like the biggest kevin nash hater" you were literally trying to claw at every bit of praise stevie was giving him lmao
James needs to go to be honest.
Such a pommy wenker
Social Security on a pole match 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Pretty sure the "12th Man" has been in use a lot longer at Texas A&M than in Seattle.
Chris was like a father to me every Monday night
Wrestling can't past it's "Y'all do too much" phase.
We can move past ECW y'all...
Edge was in highlander end game the film back in 2000.
Where's the video when u reviewed the Nia Jax vs Becky Lynch match? I like how u broke that match down.
Stevie didn't watch the match and then tries to critique the psychology? Bit weird but ok.
