    It's not a dump up place. Actually the water is blue but it wasn't salty ,as I understand.

    • @joanarthurs267
      @joanarthurs267  2 місяці тому

      Yeah! Pretty blue, 4 persons so far says the water is fresh but everyone else believes it is salt. Based on the fact that they continued using steels and fortified the wall, the use of the steels tells me the water is fresh. I am not sure why the workers are not allowed to talk about it.
      Maybe because all water table belongs to the government but either way They're building away from it and ensuring that the section of land They're using is raised above it.

    Good day, the sea was never on that side of the road. That land was not dumped land. It actually was originally part of an old sugar plantation. The hills above the Coral Gardens & Ironshore area has several natural springs that empties on the plain towards the sea. Those springs are know to many Rastafarian community there and children who visited the springs during summer adventures. Also driving along that stretch of road, heading towards the airport, one would notice several small bridges over small water channels that head towards the sea. No dumped-up land please. The people who are from that area and the Montego Bay area are aware of that.

    I didnt realize pricesmart had a bakery in mobay...most of these franchise are built on dump up land..it would be good if UT wasnt so.

    • @joanarthurs267
      @joanarthurs267  16 днів тому +1

      No! Not a bakery, it's actually a bakery OUTLET. I typed the correction in the video, its visible on screen.
      I don't think the land was refilled, I thought so a bit when I saw the close proximity of the sea and the beautifully blue emerging water; but when you think about it long enough, not necessarily so, it can be reasoned otherwise with the strong possibilities of fresh water. I will do another video on my thoughts and observation.

    As Jamaicans, when we are sharing information via this medium we must take more care. It you ae not from the area or not familiar with the location you are commenting on take the time to do a little research and get the fact. This will make you and you channel more authentic and reliable.
    Grandma there is no salt water there. I grew up in Montego Bay and have know that area from in the seventies. Way before Ironshore was that developed, when the golf course was in use.
    What you are seeing is fresh water from springs close by. this can and will be easily dealt with by the developers.
    Also be aware that large international companies such as Price Right would before such a large under taking have Engineers do soil testing and other checks to ensure that the site is suitable for construction.
    I think you should do another video on this with accurate information. It would do your channel well.

    • @joanarthurs267

      Thank you so much for sharing your perspective and personal experience with me! I appreciate the insight into the area's history and your first hand knowledge.
      I'll definitely take your points into consideration. I am working on a video to share my own observations and concerns. I'll try to upload within the next two weeks.
      Thanks again for your input, and I look forward to sharing my video with you soon!

    I do not agree, that Portmore is all dumped land. Some places such as the Portmore mall and the town center, was once the mangrove. Historic buildings such as the the Fort Augustus prison and Rodney's Arm has been there before the 1692 Port Royal earthquake and is still standing. We should not assume when it is on to our geography and history.

    • @joanarthurs267
      @joanarthurs267  3 місяці тому +1

      Oh! Jamaicans usually refer to a place as dumped up, but we know it is not the entire area. Persons from other cultures can easily misunderstand, never thought of that before. Thank your for your insight.

    What it is saying it's a SIGN IT'S NOT TO BE THERE. SIMPLE. Its a GOOD thing Beryl came at this time to wake up the people building it there and a good thing Beryl did not come with her eye like GILBERT it would have been worse trust me. So THANK GOD

      Based on what I am seeing things there, are under control. It's ok and believe me, we desperately need that store on this side of the island, like yesterday. We need for them to be stress free in their construction, with no delay.
      As for Beryl, well! We have a lot to be thankful for. It was frightening for many persons but more lives could have been lost it has been a long time coming. We hope for no more storms, for the next however long🤔 many roofs went flying, it was crazy!

      Persons who have worked in road construction are saying it just needs to be treated and fiĺled with boulders like those used for the roads. So based on their reasoning it is not so much a big deal except that it is going to be added cost and a longer period for completion than that which was initially planned.

    How do you know that its saltwater?

    • @joanarthurs267
      @joanarthurs267  4 місяці тому

      Thanks for your comment. Salt, fresh, warm, cold, hot, the emerging water is detrimental and have caused them to return to the drawing board which means they might very well not be able to complete construction within the planned period.
      That means many of us will need to continue shopping at PriceSmart Kingston, enduring all the winding treacherous road through Junction, for a longer period of time.
      We were all looking forward to the nice straight road to Montego Bay. Not blaming anyone except nature...

    There is no bakery in Montego Bay. There is an outlet for the baking products. Do you know if the water was tested and confirmed to be sea water? I doubt they would continue to work as normal if that was the case.

    • @joanarthurs267
      @joanarthurs267  5 місяців тому

      No I don't know what tests were done cause I saw no one for awhile but I heard that work was going on, so I passed by and saw one tractor.
      Today though, seemed like a normal work day, like the entire team is there. The sea is a few chains across the road from the site and hotel/s and other businesses are there on that side.

    • @joanarthurs267
      @joanarthurs267  5 місяців тому

      Yes I know it is not a bakery. I actually wrote bakery outlet on the screen.

      @joanarthurs267 Thank you! I know the area very well. I do know the sea is close by, but I didn't know if they had confirmed it being sea water. Hence, I asked with the hope that you may have heard something.. I appreciate your response 👍

    • @joanarthurs267
      @joanarthurs267  4 місяці тому

      Thank you for your question, I have seen for myself the emerging water as shown in the video. Salt or fresh, water will always be unpredictable. While the problem will be solved like hotels in the region and even the construction of the road itself, do you not think the emerging water will increase expenditure, and completetion time than was initially planned?

    • @joanarthurs267
      @joanarthurs267  4 місяці тому

      I am not an architect, but my idea of boulders has to do with observation of hotels and road constructions being done in close proximity of the sea. I suppose with fresh water then that's more like constructing well fortified channels or aqueducts.🤔
