Dave and John talked about how they would do ultra-intense squat workouts at Westside, where Meadows wanted to use a police-issued taser on both him and Dave before squatting to kickstart their CNS. Dave didn't want to do it but instead brought in a couple cattle prods! He was going to use them while sitting in an ice bath, but Meadows told him it might kill him!
He did lots of technique work prior to this on the powerlifts. The "mental fortitude" can also be used as a better idea of what difficulty you can expect normal training to be like (if you now have a higher perception of what effort is). He also did a question and answer session with them afterwards.

There have been many bodybuilders that have primarily using high intensity training techniques like this, and built great physiques. You can also get a large training effect in a small amount of time. For example, you're late to the gym and only have 20-30 minutes to work out. You can use HIT techniques like this to get a great training stimulus in a short time.
