Martin Leaker Iv been studying seaweeds atm mate I don’t like to eat anything I don’t know about to be fair as can be really risky with seafood, nice to be carful instead of it coming out both ends 😂
I just found your channel a few days ago, but since I've been at home sick with a cold I haven't stopped watching your videos! Sending love from Florida, keep it up man!
You need a warning in the beginning of each video that says, "CAUTION DO NOT WATCH THE FOLLOWING DEMONSTRATION WHILE HUNGRY" Love these vids! BTW I cook limpets by attaching them to a flat rock and move hot coals on them. 5 min is all it takes and they're lovely. Ray Mears demonstrated this technique and since then I stopped boiling them.
Smashed it again, brilliant stuff. If you ever fancy a slightly different sauce, steam the clams in Cider with lots of butter, garlic and onions, when the clams are cooked turn the heat down and stir in some thick pouring cream and simmer for a few minutes on low heat. Bloody awesome with fresh crusty bread to dip into the sauce.
I've watched a few vids of yours and subbed. Great to see that you only take what you need and know to leave undersized crustaceans and female crabs to populate. Good man for not over fishing. Enjoy the food you catch, wish I was there to enjoy the feast. Great content, keep em coming! 👍
hey dude, loved the video. i only found your channel yesterday, but i've been watching a bunch of your vids and cant get enough. i don't know if you ever tried the limpets again after this, but i have a bit of advice on how to make them taste awesome. i spent a month camping in Hawaii during last May and June, and i got to make friends with some of the locals, and they taught me a lot about local fishing, foraging, and their traditional and not so traditional foods. one of the things they taught me a lot about was limpets, which is something they have been eating forever. one of the best and simplest ways to eat them is to start a fire, dice up some onion, garlic, tomatoes, and chiles (you can skip the chiles if you don't like heat). then place the limpets on the fire with their shells down, then pile everything on top and cook for 2 or 3 minutes, just until the limpets release from their shells. then take em off the fire and let em cool for a minute or 2 so they aren't lava, then dump everything in your mouth as if the shell was a shot glass (and obviously chew before you swallow lol). also, if you want you can add other stuff. some stuff i have tried that worked out great was soy sauce, lime, lemon, ginger, turmeric, and also white wine and parsley like you did in this vid. also, it's pretty common to eat the whole limpet, guts and all, but some people don't, so you can pop them out of the shells, pull off the guts, then drop them back in the shell before you add everything else in. or you could just cook everything up in a pan, but the smoke from a campfire can actually make a pretty big difference. 2 more things: 1- you can use the shell from 1 limpet to scoop out another. it's really fast once you get the hang of it, and you don't have to worry about cutting yourself. 2- limpets make amazing bait and just about everything in the ocean will eat them. so if you are going out fishing, it's a good idea to grab a few and take them with. i have had fish refuse to eat everything i threw at them, they wouldn't even touch squid or shrimp, but as soon as i threw a limpet on the hook i was able to catch lunch. pop the limpet put of the shell and hook it twice so it stays on better, and make sure to pop the guts at least a little bit. but ya, loved the vid, and im happy to be subscribed
Try cooking onions in olive oil and butter til translucent. Then add garlic black pepper cook 20 seconds. Then deglaze pan with wine reduce by half add parsley and then seafood. When its done off the heat put another pad of butter and some more pepper swirl enjoy lol. Or add cream reduce that by half
These vids should be X rated ! You're so lucky living so close to the coast! I'm so envious, about time you you got down to some serious issues like fishing you seem to be enjoying yourselves too much! Great work lads keep em coming. He'll yeah!🐟🐟🐟🐟👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍
Just a little tip from the chef by trade saute your onions and garlic in a hot pot for a couple minutes in the butter until they start to brown a bit then add the wine cook the wine for a couple more min. Then put your clam/muscles etc.etc in with the water, bring to the boil...salt&pepper with the water you'll taste the difference...peace mate's
Love your whole channel dude. A future UA-cam legend in the making! So glad you started upping the flavours on your cooks, adding wine, herbs etc. Try using at least 50/50 sea/fresh water when boiling/steaming your shellfish. Top restaurants import seawater to boil shellfish in which naturally seasons it all.. anyway, keep up the great content!
Hi Guys, It was great to see Sam in the Sea Angler Magazine. Would love to visit and fish your neck of the woods sometime. Sea fishing is my favourite, indeed my house is full of fishing gear. Ha Ha. Best for now, Steve in Fife.
Hell yea from Lancashire boys a top notch vid as always a good laugh, I'm taking my dog on a camping fishing trip to Anglesey in July I can't wait to go about foraging dudes. Keep posting wicked vids smash fishing babysitting
Haha😂 the look on your faces when you tried the limpets had me in stitches and yes they do taste like shit, grate video guys and so nice to see such wonderful sea life around our coast, tight lines guys 👍🎣🐟.
I've never tasted a limpet, but I imagine the self-rising flour didn't help. Maybe you could try 1/2 cornmeal and 1/2 all-purpose flour with some garlic powder and other favorite seasonings and more oil. But, then again, maybe that won't help at all! Much love boys!!
When you said you were going to eat the limpet my first thought was "Once". After you do it once you never do it again. By the way, that worm looked very much like the bloodworms we get here in South Aust except ours are much deeper red. If they are the same family, be careful because they will give you a very nasty bite.
I had some limpets cooked by a lady over here who had a recipe. They were ok but I use that term very loosely. Best give up on them they are pure survival food and that's If you cant find anything else lol.
Nice one boys another smash classic, tip for next time bring some spaghetti and do a pasta dish. Same sauce just add some chilli flakes and boom top food
I got a lot of razors now.starting to get fed up of it . Razors looks simple on video but its not as that simpple to get them nearvme 🤣🤣🤣, cockles is lovely too, got few queens cockles. They were masive . Few Venus clams too. Picked giant mussels an found a lot of little perl's in them
We have spot for those brown crabs. Kids loves to gather them but allways small on coast. Did u ever seen red lugs swimming in water? Tonight i was in port testing waters an seen read guys swimming. First thought wtf? What is it? But i think is red rag worms as i could see tousands of legs on side mowing and helping thed m to swim. There were huge some of them
The limpets should just be grill In the shell and while it is grilling ways drip some soy sauce and a small dab of mayo...in Hawaii we it it all the time I’ll eat them raw too
I enjoy your vids. Keep up the quest. I think the one time you cooked a soft crab, you forgot to remove the dead man's fingers, lungs. They Ruin an otherwise global delicacy . Using one for bait, is like trading 2o dollars for 50 cents. Anyway.... good stuff there. ~rad~
Try combining limpets with Indian spices. (you can pick them up from any Indian stores). They have special masalas (spices) for seafood. Also, check this recipe out. www.photosandfood.ca/2018/08/08/azores-style-grilled-limpets-lapas-grelhadas/
I really enjoy your videos. I was a bit disappointed to see that you just toss the crab in the pot without having dispatched it first. Surely there’s a more humane way than straight into boiling hot water.
Lmao 😂 I’ve tried everything with limpits and nothing makes them better. The best I got was making a seafood stew I cooked for 3 hours still chewy lol 😂
Brilliant! I laughed my tits off when you spat that limpet out! They're fucking gross!!
Martin Leaker they really are gross 😂😂👌 never again ! Thanks for watching ! Your comment cracked me up, well deserves a pin lol

How could I have ever missed this vintage classic! 😂😂😂😂
Man these videos are just amazing. I am binge watching these instead of sleeping! Not good when I have work to do the next day :(
Same here, but not working tomorrow!
Hello, love your videos, watching from Detroit, MI, no foraging where I live at all, but nice to watch. Beautiful aquatic life.

I don’t particularly care for seafood but I’ll be damned if I don’t want to be there sucking down clams. You guys are awesome!

Hilarious when you spit out the limpet. Best part for me. Keep these up. I am addicted.
I never knew about razor clams. This is why I love watching you!
I love your show from Indiana, USA......we love shell fish.......keep up the great work bud
Its deffinetly a blood worm. We use them here in the states. They are harvested mostly from the mud flats of maine. Very expensive bait here.

Great video again boys 🦀🦞🎣👍👍👍🍽.
In Hawaii. The limpets are called Opihi (O pee hee). We usually eat it raw. The toughness will never go away. But will get worse when cooked.
Brilliant, You're a clever young man. I'm off to have a go myself here in New Zealand and post the results.
It’s called a flicky licky worm. They’re delicious raw people wrap them round stonefish and eat it whole 👍
The mini lobster looks like a huge prawn
smashing .... thanks a LOT #
Lay the worm on your arm.. If it attaches it's a blood worm. GREAT bait for bass!

Are you going to do any fishing off a boat this summer? I need some tips as I've just got a boat!!
Samuel Moore I plan to go out with Dano soon , what type of things would you like to know ?
The best way for razors is to sprinkle salt on the hole and watch them come up. No digging or breaking them.
I'm curious as to why you stopped using salt on the razor clams? That seemed to be a tried and true means of getting them out of the sand.
crab in the pot "mmmm this tastes so goooood!"
this UA-camr rules 👊😎
Do u use real butter??
Looks like Sam is in a different climate! And don't worry nobody saw the slip at the beginning :)
Isle of Man Fishing haha I left the slip in dude lol we like to have a laugh with it 😂 thanks for watching

Love it.where are you,guys ?
Could you show how you tell if there dead or alive! And what’s good eating and what’s not?
Jimmy Hurst if your speaking of clams it’s pretty simple if you cook them and they don’t open, don’t eat them!

Do you get much white bait where you are? White bait catch and cook would get my stomach rumbling. 🙂
Fishing_bug I’m not to sure to be honest mate I like white bait battered an deep fried 👌 good question 👍 thanks for watching !

They make good, not great but good rock fish bait, especially if a bit of shell is still attached and all smahshed up. Would never eat one myself! LOL
Should have deep fried the soft shell crab. Such a waste to use it for bait. We batter and fry them whole.
