Mung daal vegetarian dish

  • Mung daal
    1 cup mung or 1 cup split peas (cover with water and soak for one hour)
    1 and half teaspoon of turmeric
    Just less than 1 teaspoon salt/ salt to your required taste
    Cook this on low to medium heat until they are soft. Make sure there is some water left when the daal is cooked. If needed due to not enough liquid after the daal Is cooked, then add a half cup of water at the end to ensure there is enough liquid left in the daal.
    1 tablespoon or 1 and a half tablespoon of olive oil/oil of your choice.
    Pinch of ground garlic and ground onion mixed together
    1 teaspoon of cumin seeds
    Garlic
    Ginger
    One large/2 medium onions
    One large/2 medium tomatoes
    1 large lady Finger green chilli chopped or half of green Scotch Bonnet pepper 🫑 de-seeded and chopped finely
    1/2 teaspoon chilli 🌶 pepper or chilli powder
    1/2 teaspoon corriander
    Fresh coriander for garnish
    You can have this with chapatis or bastmati or plain white rice.
