- I bought a 1976 Fisher 30 Northeaster motorsailer in great need of "some" TLC.
In this video i cut down the last of the interior, shoveling a lot of snow, making beer and anglegrind so it is snowing fibreglass.
This is so wonderfully bonkers and eccentric you should be offered a honorary British Citizenship Keep it up, it’s a delight to follow your journey.

Hehe. Combining hard work with some good laughs. The energy you put into this boat is amazing, considering all the other projects which you work on daly. You are certainly the son of your father. (to other subscribers, I know as I saw his father completely renovating an old mansion house and a 70 foot schooner back in the 70 and 80-ties) PS. Helge is my nephew. :-) , and his 83 year old father, still my best friend, along with Helge and family.

Well done Helge, We can now see the end of the beginning. I always warm to sailors who like to brew at home. My favourite is Welsh Red (Cwtch from Tiny Rebel Brewing co.) Winter work seems like a thankless task but you should be all set for gluing when the weather warms up! Keep going and continue to surprise us 😊

I love the night scenes from the harbor looking across at the city lights.
A few weeks ago we had record cold. -14 which is crazy cold for us. This week we are at 11 degrees, crazy warm. Oh, we are having an atmospheric river event going on too. I am also looking forward to spring.
The biggest problem - I think - is what the fibreglass is no longer attached to: rotten plywood.
I is actually not night scenes but more scenes between 7pm and 10pm. Sitting here writing it is about 6pm but totally dark (and wind/rain) outside. Spring will be great as is every year. :-)

2 years ago i saw that nice and stylish boat "Marco Polo" for sale, i was´nt able to buy it but i only wished that the new owner take a compromise to bring her back to the glory days, this project will bring you satisfaction in the soul. Good job!

Your area got more snow than where I am in Maine USA. We have less than 24inches so far this season, not complaining though; i have only had to run the snow thrower once.
Oh it varies a lot for each year. We have winters with even more snow and winters with only rain. Being a costal city near the Gulf stream makes the winters mild and wet. :-)

I think the stuff that looks like the (alfalfa) "rabbit pellets" I used to feed my rabbits as kid, is actually the HOPS!

Hallo Helge, another great video and this time nice to be introduced to your son. I enjoyed reading Rolf’s comment and it ties things together. I concur with your idea on keeping the interior space open and only using a 2/3 wall with curtain for privacy. It is a small space already and walls just cause the eye to perceive it even smaller. Hi Helge!! I'm also a fan of the open concept in boat layout. I've never understood the use of multiple doors closing off sections of an already limited space. I've always been surprised that more manufacturers don't use pocket doors as they still provide privacy and security while minimizing the intrusion to the walking and living space. It looks like the demolition is almost complete ... could you take a few shots of the interior from end to end ... as you are constantly on the move in the videos, it is hard to get a good sense of the amount of space you have to work with on the refit.

Thanks. Good advice to always use the seat belt. I always do! But maybe not from the yard-gate to the boat, at very low speed, inside a closed off area and a short way to go. But for the sake of the video I should urge to be an example to succeed. :-)
Ok this isn't a wooden boat rebuild channel but in terms of quality content this is up there with the best of them. Cant wait for spring and the rebuild. Im wondering, will the fact that your channel seems mainly "self-funded", will that have an impact on the number of subscribers ? Not expanding into Patreon, etc like most other channels, could this have a negative impact ? I guess only time will tell. 🙏🙏🙏🥰🥰🥰
This is definitely not Sampson boat co, with Tally Ho. Their skill-level is beyond all, I think. Still happy and humble to read your rating of this amateur channel. I have considered Patreon and making extra content for paying members, but not sure I have the time and energy to raising up to another level and deliver the expected extra content, live-chats and if was I am not sure anyone would pay for that.
Keeping things simple, basic and non-professional may be the answer to keep this channel small and authentic. I film what I do and Sara makes editing-magic with the raw-video material. This way you may also tolerate the rebuilding phase when you discover my missing skills and all the flaws that will pop up. Thanks for your input :-)
As a fan of good homemade beer, I applaud your efforts. I haven't used Safale US-05 before but do use Kreik yeast with two additions of Citra-hops for my IPA. Since retiring and raising honeybees that produce way more honey than we can use, I now make mead. Another great video Helge. Thanks for sharing.
I was actually a bit worried to put so much time into the beer brewing (on a boat channel), but Sara decided to keep it.

Yes, I would love some heat once in a while, but not too much and too hot. Living in Florida would mean I would have to sacrifice the Norwegian coast, mountains, nature. That would be hard for me.... :-)

Very tempered weather there ! So your going from 2 state rooms to just 1 ? won't that hurt the resale value of the vessel ? I thought most Norwegians had winter homes in the mountains not summer homes up there ?
Yep. At the west coast, near the Atlantic, the Golf stream passes by. So mild climate.
Reducing to one (real) bed in each end of the hull. You are right, that might reduce the resale value. But I dont care about that fact as I do hope to enjoy the boat for many years, so only focusing on my own ideas and what I like.
I know I keep calling our cabin the summer house even though we use it all year. It is by the sea, not up in the mountains. But you are right in your understanding, many Norwegians have cabins in the mountains, for winter use and others have cabins by the sea for summer use. Some have both. :-)

My motorboat, the Rhea 900, has a grp-hull and no ice class as far as I know. I think ice-class boats will have to be steel or aluminium hull, or at least protected by such a layer of steel. :-)

As I said I'm interested in understand what you parctically will apply your right attitude to have a roomy space around you even in a tiny boat. Yet voluminous!
If you keep it open, it'll take a lot of calories to heat up and keep warm...
Moreover (and this is NOT a suggestion!) I would put the bed aft: less jumping, lower position, easily separated. And another idea could be to have walls in transparent material (plaxiglass?) so it's closed, but large vision...
Sorry...just giving voice to my thoughts...
LAst thing: watching you going around with snow on the boat (it happened to me only once in all my life!) I had a strong wish to experience that again: it should be incredible to sail while snowing...wow! THanks.

My wish for maximising space (within a small boat) is my desire to move a bit around (walk) while cruising. On my motorboat I have noticed that the space inside the pilothouse is a bit cramp and moving around is really not easy on such a small deck-area. So I listen to my own experience from cruising and remove most of the interior of the Pilothouse, to have more deck-area. It is just customizing for my needs, prioritising. I know it will take more to heat up, but with tiny space I will not go cruising with the boat. So....
I will have one bed aft and one in the bow. Both areas are more or less useless for other purposes due to the shape.
It is ok to speak your mind. I like feedback and creative inputs, as long as it is polite and factual.
The great thing about having such winters is that we gets so happy for each seasonal change. The dark winter is facinating to me. And when winter is over and seeing the sun again and days getting longer is a rush! I think I appreciate sunny days since we have them in limited amounts. It is like life itself. Being middel age I know 2/3 of my days are (statistically) behind me. But there is 1/3 left! So lets make the best out of those. Dont you agree? (sorry for being a bit philosophical there...) :-)

Noticed you have air source heating does it keep the water and house temp warm 🥵 asking from UK
Yes we have an Mitsubishi Electric MSZ-FH35VE air to air heating pump. Pours plenty of heat into the house. Does, however not heat the water. Works great in our climate. Burns ab. 800watts and deliver ab. 4kW.
