IF YOU DONT ABSOLUTELY SMASH THE LIKE BUTTON FOR 5 POUND SMALLMOUTH SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH YOU
Thanks Tyler! I know what to fish with now!
That was totally cool 😎 NY
What leader knot do you prefer to tie?
Dude I'm having such a hard time catching bass recently, I'm a bank angler and restricted to where I can fish. I normally fish at the local boat launch, the bass are only smallmouth, they won't even pick up that drop shot. Any advice?
On that rod you have in the description 7' med or med xfast?
Tyler is the best instructional fishing UA-camr period.
Thank you Jordan!
Been saying this
Very nice video. Before I sub tho, do you answer questions by your followers?
Your not wrong
I’m helping a new fisherman 12year old by sending him all Tyler videos when he has a question.
If I had to point out the MOST important tip in this, it is the drag set. Tight on the hookset and then loosen IMMEDIATELY to allow for play (just make sure to tighten it back before your next cast!). This is such an overlooked and underrated tip, and I can tell you that since I have done this (saw it last year in either a Flukemaster or TacticalBassin vid) I have landed SO many more fish. Before I started doing that, I would set the hook, but often they would shake it because I didn't allow enough play. Thank you SO MUCH for mentioning that tip, your vids are amazing as always!
Thanks for always watching and engaging!
You know, there are A LOT of fishing channels but I always find myself coming back here. Keep doing what you're doing!
Awesome! Thank you! That means so much more than you know!
New to fishing. Have watched dozens of drop shot instructionals and this one is by far the best.
"A stinkin' donk folks." 😂😂 I love it!
I’m a new subscriber. Thirty years ago as a kid I caught tons of largemouths by using Slug-Gos on beds. Life happened and I got away from fishing for quite a while. I’m now able to get back into it and I’m not catching much so I turned to UA-cam. Tyler crushes these instructional videos. I had no idea what I was missing. I had no idea what a drop shot was. I now have hope. This is great!
Really informative Tyler, this was very helpful, especially how you tied the hook and maneuvered it around the line to ensure the hook laid out. Great to learn
Love the channel and just wanted to thank you for putting so much emphasis on the drop shot rig.
I got 2 big Bass and a huge catfish back to back using this rig. Sadly it started raining so I had to go home, otherwise I would've caught a lot more.
Keep up the good work.
Love the content! Super informative
Tyler, you are one of the only UA-cam producers who answer the, WHAT, WHERE, WHEN, HOW. I have been trying to learn to bass fish from many different UA-cam videos and many producers are very long winded and often fail to give all of the details. One of the videos that I watch of yours was about JiGS and you are one of the only people I found to explain what the difference heads were designed for. Great job 👏.
🙌🏼
Love your vids man keep it up
Awesome video, love to see the smallmouth videos
Too much fun. Great instructional video. Thank you
The drop shot is one of my new confidence baits I just moved to Waco for college and the bass up here in lake waco love a June bug utail worm definitely learned more from this video love watching your content
Hey Tyler love your content. Keep it coming.
I want you to know that I have watched so many fishing videos you by far are the only interesting one that I have found. You are the only one that I don’t skip on the video or change it.
I married into a family of hunters and fishers, I have never done any of it!
Thank you so much for your content! I’ve never subscribed faster than your channel!!!!!!
Thank you so much for the kind words! I’m so glad that my channel is able to help you become a better angler!
I was fishing a couple years ago and an old guy down from me was just hammering the bass and I couldn't get a bite. I walked down to him and when he saw what I was using ( jig / curly tail grub) he said "you're not gonna catch shit here with that" lol. He was using a drop shot and took the time to show me basically what you just did. I can't tell you how many fish I've caught with it since then and even started drift fishing it for Walleye on Lake Erie. Cool video and awesome tips man.
Great video Tyler
I was looking for a good tutorial for drop shot fishing and I was not disappointed. Tyler you are my go to man for how to videos, and
by far the best fishing instructor on UA-cam. I love your channel and have learned so much from your videos, keep up the good work.
I love to hear that! So glad you’re learning
Your New York videos are some of my favorite videos. You need about a month up there!
Dude!!! I have learned so mush watching YOUR videos. Thank you!!!’
Your videos helped me catch my first largemouth last night. Now I'm "hooked".
Good info Tyler! I used your TRF code for some AFTCO gear that arrives today! Just wanted to say thank you!!
Let’s go!!
Great video and instructions as always simple directions
Thanks for engaging!
Good explainer. ZMan all the way on the drop shots. TRDs are my jam. Didn't know strike king borrowed the Elaztech! Another good teacher of the drop shot is Brian Latimer. Great vid!
You are the blippi of fishing. Love the videos !
I love that haha!
I truly love watching all your bass fishing videos, thank you for all the valuable information. I would give anything just to go fishing with you for one afternoon.
Thank you bill! I do two giveaway trips every year that you can bid on! Stay tuned to hear about them
Tyler as a beginning bass fisherman, I love your videos and learn so very much from them. Thank you and keep them coming. How about some more bank videos for this of us that don’t have a boat.
Yep, plenty coming! It’s winter, bank fishing is tough.
Also though, every tip in this video applies to bank anglers
There is a bunch of drop shot videos but not many on the actual technique, great video!
I have just started fishing a drop shot from the info on your videos, and have been having so much fun catching loads of smallies! PB last weekend! Thanks Tyler!!
Nice catch Ty!!
Thanks for watching!
Thanks bud!!
Thanks very much💪🏻
Just started using the drop shot , first two days out caught big pickerel, + big bass lots of others.. love the video
It truly is a multi species catcher!
Good video Tyler. Just to mention, I've had that net for my last 3 trips and its great. Spinning rod in one arm and that net hanging off the other. Great for guys fishing alone. :-)
Yes it is!
Bass fishing is there anything better and I am addicted too it I am now 14 two years ago I started my channel and I am damn proud of it and I am finally getting close too my 1 k sub goal !!!
Yee haw! Keep up the good work!
1:45am and im watching your drop shot videos and planning to get up in a few hours to try my luck lol only place close to me is a tinyyyyy pond thats located in a park so everyone fishes it. Wish me luck, I'll need it😂
Tyler… you don’t know how many of your videos I have in my “helpful fishing vids” playlist on UA-cam 😂😂
Let’s go!
watched this video on thursday and caught my first fish on friday! thank you so much for the insight!
Glad it helped!
Bro! These videos are so good!
Thanks Jose!
Great tips. Where did you get that large AFTCO carpet decal? Absolutely love it!!!!
I only use half ounce weights for drop shot. Strong current or no current because i like being able to cast further and im usually fishing fairly deep water with drop shot
This is aggravating! For some reason not getting notifications for your videos!
Awesome video! Now I have to catch up for the last month
Me too! I get some and not all!
Man that’s crazy!
@@babadeedee same with me
Thank you. 🙋♂️
AWESOME TUTORIAL AND DISPLAY OF GREAT FISHING, THANK YOU!!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
That was some of the coolest fishin I've ever seen 👍👍👍
Thanks for enjoying!
Appreciate another great video bro. Any tips for an angler who doesn’t have the equipment to find fish? I just use cheap depth finders from Walmart. Any tips to finding the fish would be great.
Killing the game, as usual. 🎣
I appreciate it!
Great job Tyler
Thank you!
Love the manic energy😂
You remind me of watching Bob Izumi when I was younger.
Great work. Love your vids.
I need this video so bad 😊
Hey brother love the videos thank you for your awesom3 content, I love how I just noticed the Vega frog in your intro lol
That is not the Vega frog, it’s the Strike King Poppin Pad Perch! A better frog imo
@@TylersReelFishing ok cool it looked like the 6th logo and yeah use what works for you, that's the beauty of fishing lots of baits that work for you won't work for me and vise versa
Great video! What type of boat do you have?
Our created made some really pretty water and beautiful smallies right there!
Amen to that!
I plan on being up there with my grandkids next June. What is the best town for us to try to book a place up there? Love your videos and how you present the information! Best narration I've seen on any fishing channel. You have found your calling young man! Keep up the great work!
Clayton!
Nice! Love small mouth they put up a good fight…large mouth when hooked are the laziest fish 😂 you just drag em into the boat
Absolutely fire video. I am gonna be in Northern Michigan for a big Army and Air Force exercise for 2 weeks. Let me know if you're around Northern Michigan, it would be awesome to meet up!!!
I'd never thrown a drop shot before today. I had a blast with it! I got home and tied up two rigs.
I just got to the part about the hook set. My experience was a little different, I actually did get a lot of really hard thumps, it was only a couple fish where all I felt was weight on the line.
BTW they'll hit a drop shot in chocolate milk too. The lake I fish has about 6 inches of visibility, still worked fine. It's a really shallow lake too, fishing from the bank puts you in 4ft of water, max.
Great input!
Good info for the drop shot rig now here is a curve for this using it on the Harris chain using it for stripers here I know they work on Lg Bass but having for eating fish may work too.
I've always used live bait and never used soft plastics throughout my life , however this year I've been learning all I can about soft plastics because I can't believe how effective it is, especially in the muddy ponds that I fish, the plastic worms seem to be more effective than the live minnows that I'd typically use.
Live bait really is limited in where it can be used
Slayed with the dropshot this fall.
It’s killer ALL YEAR
Only the best videos on this channel
Got an even better drop shot video coming soon!
the new lews hyper mag spinning reel looks sick
I know! Can’t wait to get my hands on some!
Have ya learned the FG yet? Epic editing btw 🔥
Can't go wrong with this reel
Tyler one of the best how to drop shot videos on UA-cam.
Thank you!!
Good stuff Tyler! Question: Are you trying to imitate a bait fish with a drop shot? I can see that but, if you put a finesse worm on there, worms don't suspend, they crawl across the bottom. Seems like a worm on there wouldn't appear natural to a bass. So, better to put a bait fish type lure on than a worm? Thanks!
Did you get a new camera !! Video looks great, an man that smallmouth was a football!! Geeshhh!
Had this camera for the past 6 months of videos!
Jeez tyler, if this method works on lake Winnebago I might be drivin a new boat soon.
I always use a zoom finesse worm.
Straight MONDOS 🔥🔥
🤔 Monstrormousicality? 🤓👍
Guy is literally living my dream
Drop shot is 100% my go to on the St. Lawrence for smallies. It works great when using worms, too, as it keeps the worm up off the bottom and away from most of the gobies.
100%! You’ll be seeing tons of smallie footage on my channel in the next 3 months
How did you get those amazing shots of the fish taking your bait ?!?
Been doing it for years! Look at my underwater playlist on the channel
Did you ever try rigging a drop shot rig using a jig instead of the weight? I do a good amount of fly fishing for trout and the nymphing rigs we use are kind of similar to drop shot rigs. One heavy fly to bounce on the bottom and a lighter fly or streamer in the water column.
Next time i go bass fishing i want to try a drop shot rig with some form of crawfish immitating jig instead of the weight. 2 baits has got to be better than one right??
That's actually a really good idea!
Drop shot vs texas rig which is better or is it preamce
Which lake in New York is this video filmed on? It almost looks like Saratoga Lake or Lake George by the clarity of the water. Great video
I question if most of the fish 'want' the same thing at the same time. I agree that fish move shallow/deep more or less together, but unless there is an overwhelming presence of a certain forage, fish are opportunity feeders. It all depends on what swims by.
Thats my favorite thing about living 7 hours from the St Lawrence and even closer to the other honey holes
Best fishing channel on UA-cam.
Thank you so much!
So if I have my 7.1 ft 2500 spinning reel rigged with monofilament I should probably put my P-Line 15/lb high vis green line on? I don’t have any fluorocarbon yet. Just monofilament 6&8/lb and some 15/lb PCXX (or something forgot the name) that is copolymer. I have a Cabela’s $25 gift card I need to use. As a new fisherman tying knots is nerve racking (lost two lures already) so I’ve only been fishing with my knock-off whopper Plopper and a Wild eye Storm shad 3/pk from Walmart. I just got two 10/pack’s of the Chinese mega bass dark sleeper’s. Probably overkill on cheap lures but I’m just learning the Palomar knot and learning on 6/lb monofilament is difficult. What knit for braided line?
pls send me a photo how do you attach the soft fish to the hook. pls pls pls i am new to the dropshot technique!
ive actually had a lot of success of drop shotting shallow pond waters with a dropshot with about a foot leader. its a very muddy bottom so my theory is that i have more success with a drop shot because a texas rig would just kick up to much mud clouds to where the fish cant find the bait
Hello guys, i want to ask. Is anyone in western country has used the dropshot technique to catch barramundi?
Where do I get a jig life shirt like that?
I will try this technique today. How is Hannah?
What lake were you at I live in the state?
Tyler do you ever use the spinshot type hooks
Not yet
@8:29 joke's on you, I'll only catch 3 fish total lmao
Hey Tyler I might’ve missed it but what knot did you use for the braid to leader
Double uni. Just learn the FG. I haven’t. Monkey do what this monkey don’t 😂
I've always wondered when you cast and just let it float to the bottom like this how you can tell if a fish bites it on the way down.
If they are biting it on the way down you prob don’t need to be using a drop shot. Time to start flipping if that’s how they want it. Drop shot is not always the dominant pattern.
Is the kvd medium heavy baitcaster any good?
Which specific model?
Nice video where in New York is this?
St. Lawrence River
I absolutely hate casting a dropshot rig or really anything with a long leader like that. So much so that I would rather use a slip float and set the depth to reach the fish.
Great technique but a pain to cast for me.
It's totally worth the hassle.
So I’m a greenhorn drop shot guy and do you have any recommendations as to which style weight is best? Like the Tungsten’s are freaking expensive so would just a split shot sinker work just as good ?
Yes, it would work, in most instances, just as well
When you say don't have too long of a leader if we fish from the bank, do you mean don't have too long of a tag end? Because my leader is about 6 feet long, goes almost to my reel, and it shouldn't affect casting from the bank. As long as my drop shot hook isn't up too high from the tag end then I dont see how the leader length is an issue with bank casting underneath overhangs. Just a question though...love the videos, always very informative. Keep it up 👍
Yes that’s what I meant, I misspoke. Have as long of a leader as you want, but watch the distance of the tag and between the hook and the weight
I wana see u fish lake mead in nevada
