Black absorbs 100% of heat on the spectrum making materials really hot.
A little known fact is that infrared heat makes up 53% of solar heat, UV just 3% and visual light is 44% of the solar heat.
White reflects the visual component of heat but not the infrared. So less than half the heat is really reflected
This is why white materials are still much warmer than ambient temperatures because of heat load from the infrared but it is cooler than black.
All the Infrared heat is still absorbed by white materials which is called heat load.
It is also the basis of the Solar Reflectance Index or SRI, so it’s only measuring half the heat.
Super Therm® is formulated to block 99.5% of the infrared and UV heat keeping the surface cooler near ambient and much cooler than standard white.
