Airless Super Therm application 50% overlap

It’s important when using an airless sprayer for Super Therm cool ceramic coating to ensure you apply the coating to the manufacturer’s SPI's specified thickness of 425 microns wet, which will dry down to 250 microns.
The only way to know how thick the coating is by using a wet film gauge.
As an example we’ve sprayed these sample sheets. You can see on the second pass where the airless has created a ridge with two coats while either side it is just the one coat.
To ensure that the application of Super Therm is consistent with airless spraying, have a 50% overlap across the entire substrate should give you the correct 425 microns wet thickness assuming the fan, tip and pressure from the pump is all consistent.
Using the wet film gauge during application will help you measure that the coating is correct.
Applying Super Therm by airless is more challenging to a pitch roof over a more flat roof. Keeping the gun 90 degrees to the substrate will reduce the issue of stripes, particularly on corrugated substrates. This will reduce the need for post application touch ups when applied correctly.
Super Therm is thick enough to cover the darkest colours with the correct application and the 50% overlap.
We suggest applicators have a 40 to 50 centimetre tip extender that is better for delivery and easier for application and for maximum Super Therm delivery remove all filters from the gun and pump.
If all things are accurate and you apply Super Therm to the correct thickness and the correct angle on a clean, dry substrate, you should have a maintenance free coating that can last well over 20 years giving you outstanding solar heat protection.
