Flygon Only - Pokemon Emerald
Вставка
- Опубліковано 4 лют 2025
- Playthrough Rules:
1. Only my starter in battle
2. No items in battle*
3. No glitches or exploits*
4. No Double-Team TM before level 100*
Other rules:
-- *Pokeballs are allowed in battle when I need to catch an HM user
-- I play the game at 4x game speed (238 frames per second)
-- I allow myself to manipulate my starter (IVs, nature, HP type)
-- Using the bike for movement speed increases is banned (it can be used to obtain items)
-- Saving between league members is allowed
-- If the solo Pokemon faints and I choose to blackout it counts towards my reset counter
-- HM Mules cannot use Pickup (I want to ensure that the comparison between Pokemon is as accurate as possible, this RNG would skew things.)
*Double-Team:
-- Almost every Pokemon can learn Double-Team through TM
-- Using it would centralize the meta
-- Every Pokemon would use it to overcome tough battles at lower levels
-- It raises evasion
-- It triggers the badge boost
-- Banning the TM allows Pokemon who learn it through level up to use it
-- I believe evasion is part of Pokemon and shouldn't be banned entirely
-- I don't want the videos to all be double-team spam though, that's not fun or entertaining

Flygon was my boi! gen 3 was the first gen I played without a guide as a kid so I was so happy when the Trapinch I just thought was neat turned into this awesome lil dragon
Thats a lot like how I felt when I got Tyrannitar in gen 2
@@NonexistentIntellect ah same there tbh...Though I did know what I was working for so it made me grind out a Tyrannitar before Red 😅
I always use flygon, crobat and either swapert or blazakin in every player through. Flygon is my favorite gen 3 pokemon!
The reason Sealeo took so little damage from flamethrower is because Sealeo and Walrein have the thick fat ability, halving damage from fire and ice type moves. Use this knowledge in the future and carry yourself to victory!
Might be worth it to keep steel wing for glacia honestly because it’s super effective against ice, not resisted by thick fat and keys off flygons physical attack
Steel Wing is still weaker than STAB EQ. 140 VS 150 Power.
@@shadowtitanx3962 If both are a 2HKO then using Steel Wing gives a chance to boost attack which would he helpful against Walrein. But then you gotta deal with the accuracy issues lol
@@jonbones3827 Yea but water resists Steel so it's really not that good
@@shirounshiroun7555 Steel wing can boost defense, not attack
"Does levitate work when Flygon uses Dig?"
That's just brought back a very happy memory for me, back when I was 11 years old and using my Flygon in a battle vs a friend when we were on an overnight trip with school. My Flygon used dig against his Camerupt (I'd used the earthquake TM on my Aggron, as it took me a while to figure out how to get Flygon😅 ), and he decided to retaliate with Earthquake predicting my dig. The absolute smug grin I gave him when it failed due to levitate was priceless!
Edit after watching more of the video: I'd had Saphire for nearly a year when I found out how to get Flygon. I found out from getting a Flygon and Vibrava pokemon card 😂 I totally get how you didn't know about that, and I'm glad I wasn't the only one! Hence why my Aggron had my Earthquake TM.
The reason wailord went for water spout: the ai looks at which moves will ko randomly and if it calculates a roll that will ko, it stops, even if there is another move with a better chance. Both blizzard and water spout probably had a chance to ko so it could have picked either from a coin flip.
Pretty sure it picks randomly between KOing moves
Pretty sure that Blizzard from Wailord wasn't a ko (or the Ai had a low roll while simulating the damage), Flygon tanked the ice beam from Milotic easily.
Blizzard is stronger but Milotic has better SpA, also there is no chance that Water Spout ever can KO, it's just neutral effective.
Also possible the game calculated that blizzard would miss if used that turn.
@@nintai6656 Exactly. I think I remember a speedrunner explain once that if the game rolls a miss in its simulation of the turn it won't go for that move that turn. Even if it might have hit and done more damage. So basically you have a 30% chance there that Wailord just won't even try to hit a Blizzard. I do hope I'm not misremembering things but it makes sense, no?
I looked up speedrun docs and did a damage calc (the docs don't mention the nature so I gave it SpA+ Nature)
I used his stats from the video and the Blizzard max roll is 87,7%, Water Spout with full Hp is only 40,7%
Flygon tackling the Flying Gym with Levitate is such a fitting, yet hilarious image.
I saw the video and thought for some reason 'cool a flygon hg video with flygon' and was totally confused for a moment to hear Scott's voice 😂
Everyone explained all the other quirks in this play through to you well which is dope glad to see such an uplifting community! But man you and I and everyone else apparently has so much nostalgia and a special section of the heart for this gen, especially our first encounter with this beast.. I want to ramble more about my fond memories of rolling the dive on trapinch to lvl 45 but let me drop the last seed of knowledge! The AI calculates its moves with coin flips based on its own potential “pre roll” of damage it simulates. This gives the Wailord sometimes running Water spout when it rolled more damage/same damage/ko with either one (somehow) and picked a 50/50 between it and blizzard in it’s pre calcs. I thought I had the answer to Gyarados but I actually don’t lmao no😭
I like the flygon line. Its not too over the top, pretty strange first to final stage profression. Really fun
That editing on the beach to shift from alerting a Sailor to shift into a battle with a Grunt, gracious.
Hey Scott love the Christmas gift of the daily videos. I know you worked very hard to make all these videos. Keep up the good work!
I have been a fan of the trapinch line since I first laid eyes on the massively oversized head to body ratio. Thanks for letting his evolution shine!
Flygon is such a beast I knew it would smash it out of the park! I love now too that you're dropping teasers for future videos haha.
Honestly Scott these daily uploads have been amazing and I can't imagine the level of work that's gone into these. I really appreciate everything you and your team are doing! So much so that I've had to just sign up on patreon as these videos are genuinely worth the monthly subscription to me. Keep it up! :)
Glad you enjoyed the daily videos!
I'm loving the new improvements in these runs. Sometimes i think with myself "he should just train more", and now you're doing exactly that!
I listen ;)
Hi Scott, just a thought on natures, why dont you, from now on, use a neutral nature for every "first run" and then analyse in that first run which were your strengths and weaknesses throughout the playtrough, say for instance you had a particularly easy time on the physical defensive side, but struggled on special damage ranges throughout the first run, then thatd be a good opportunity to take mild nature?
since youre still learning this generation its still early so you wont have lost out much in terms of data, just a thought!
Edit:- After watching the run i think Flygons best natures are either Mild or Quiet, but we dont like to mess with speed too much!
He only does one run with each pokemon, since gen 3 takes much longer than gens 1 or 2
@@Lexi_TG I think he said he does only one run for now because he's not familiar enough with the game yet so even a 2nd or 3rd run wouldn't tell exactly how good the mon is
quiet is better than mild, speed only requires you to be up to a certain amount of speed teirs and in an in game. flygon is base 100 speed so not like anything will outspeed in a solo run with random EVs
26:45 made me chuckle "Water Spout might have been doing more damage to Blizzard than Flygon in that case". Still, can't imagine I'd do much better voicing a half hour video. Another cracking video, as always!
I love Flygon a lot. The damselfly dragon is really something to behold. I had the same thought about levitate that you mentioned later on in the video and had to laugh. Your video brightened up my day and I really needed that. Today wasn't really great and it felt good to just laugh. Thank you Scott and the beloved team of your channel
Two big misplays at Brawly in the first playthrough:
1.) Move Selections
As there is no way for Brawly to lower your accuracy until the Makuhita, you should have been using Bite for the flinch chance, and tried for Sand Tomb once or twice to get residual damage to (hopefully) avoid the heal.
2.) Deleting the Wrong Move for Steel Wing
Once again, you slept on Bite; currently Flygon's best move.
Scott, my friend! I am so happy to see Flygon and I am BEYOND excited to see your Tropius run. My all-time favorite jungle dinosaur is going to be tough as the only team member but it'll be great to watch. I wish it could have its hidden ability in harvest because I think you'd have a blast with being able to eat multiple berries.
I appreciate the look back at times in school talking about Pokémon because I have very similar memories that I kinda forgot about so thanks!
It’s time for my all time favorite pokemon! Can’t wait to see how it does in Hoenn. I think ground/dragon is really gonna work well for it. It’s just unfortunate it doesn’t get rockslide outside the move tutors.
My understanding of Emerald AI is that it CAN see if your Pokemon is a Flying type, but it CANNOT see your Ability unless it manually checks. So if you are using a Pokemon with Levitate, it can lead to situations where the AI will try to use a ground move. After using Earthquake and failing one time Gyarados would not use it again in this context. HOWEVER, it has another interesting quirk where if you switch out a Pokemon, the AI "forgets" what Ability you have. It's not useful for a solo playthrough challenge like this, but still fun to know. If you switched Flygon out, and brought it back out, Gyarados might try to use Earthquake again. Since his Attack stat was massively boosted from Dragon Dance, it's possible he saw a 'OHKO' against Flygon and choose Earthquake for 100 Accuracy instead of using the less accurate Hyper Beam.
(Also works with Volt Absorb, etc.)
The way the AI handles abilities applies even now. In fact, it still fails to account the fact that some Pokémon have only one ability.
**flashbacks to Sun/Moon's Battle Tree and seeing the AI waste a Z-Move on a Mimikyu with its Disguise up**
If I remember correctly, in gen 3 until the AI sees levitate activate it doesn't know about it. Also, I think that his AI has a chance to use water spout whenever his wailord has full hp
My man keeping us entertained with daily uploads!!🎉🎉 cheers!!
The amount of uploads and the quality are always *chefs kiss*
Flygon has such a dope design. I didn’t have it as one of my favorites as a kid, but now I do, the first ground/dragon type
It deserves some tricks to stand out. I always thought it should learn megahorn
My mind was BLOWN when I learned Trapinch evolved into Flygon. I had a similar reaction when I learned about Rayquaza. Like you said, the Internet wasn't like it is today, and as a 10-year-old kid it's not like I was surfing what was available online. Good times
Love every gameplay Scott and all the extra little details. When I'm doing a playthrough I probably spend more time looking at stats and move pools!!!
I would be really interested to see that pelipper solo🤣🤣🤣
Thanks so much zzbeast2443, glad you’re liking the gameplay!
DANG man youve been cranking them out! love the content. its very good background work ambiance haha. and every time you tell me to stop what im doing to look at the screen i always do hahaha.
These videos have made my depressing levels of unemployment so much better. Thank you. Also I am always surprised by how little i knew about these games before i started watching you
Sorry to hear about the unemployment, that really sucks. I’m glad that I can help! I’ve also learned so much making the videos. I honestly had no idea how Pokémon worked when I started haha
@@ScottsThoughtsPokemon I think that's what sets your videos apart from others. You are learning as you go and we have the beautiful journeys of learning, adapting, and even mistake making. Just an absolute amazing channel provided by an amazing person.
Levitating underground is such a fantastic trick. Flygon is pretty darn cool, kinda want to reuse it, i think in my omega ruby mono ground run.
Once you beat Norman go back and visit your mother for the amulet coin, especially on those mons that need tms
Flygon is sick!!! Who would’ve thought the little sand chomper would evolve into that :)
I just discovered this channel and your contents are good man! I hope you continue striving for UA-cam and I can foresee that you will be successful.
Welcome aboard & thanks! (Just catching up with comments.)
Love me some Flygon and it didn’t disappoint at all! Great job Scott!
First of, I love your work and videos. I really like flygon too. But please, if you are faster use bite over faint attack. Same power plus the chance to flinch
Yup, I should have
Flygon is my favorite and I was so excited for this video
Love Flygon and this video. I was also upset that Flygon got no mega. I love Flygon so much I got a plush of it. Please keep up the great content.
Oh my god when you had the same struggle as me in finding out how to get Flygon as a kid! I had to use my 12 year old deductive reasoning with Pokédex slots to try and evolve it for a full dex lol
This is like a dreame came true... Scott using my favorite Pokémon 😍 ❤️
Flygon was an underrated Dragon
Flygon is definitely one of my favorite Pokémon
Mostly because Trapinch sucks. Since unlike in these you usually have to actually catch the earlier stages of mons before evolving them.
FlygonHG might be proud here.
Can't wait to see the pokemon chosen for my birthday! Keep up the good work
I’m always able to get at least 1 TM from the game corner before Watson just sell a bunch of items and TMs your not planning on using. Love the videos
I am SO glad I wasn’t the only one who didn’t see how Trapinch turned into Flygon!
One day we'll see that hiker and I honestly cannot wait to hear that excitement ^_^
4:08 Definitely use bite over feint/faint attack for the flinch chance. Same power too.
Flygon is my favorite pokemon! I'm hoping it does great! Do us Flygon fans proud, Scott!
After you beat Norman, go back home and talk to your mom. She'll give you the Amulet Coin!
Never got into Gen 3. Now I know I might like it more. Thanks Scott
You’re welcome :)
For the longest time none of us could figure out how to get flygon either! Figured it out from one of the guide books
I've been campaigning for not skipping trainers on these runs, but between the growth curve and the fact that level up moves are bad so you have little to look forward to, Flygon's among the very few that wouldn't mind a little skipping. The ice spam at the end of the league is the only thing keeping that in check.
Haha very true. What a weird level up learnset.
Great run! I really love your Emerald runs, and Flygon is one of my favorite mons. If I can give 1 or 2 small optimizations (not that it matters) you could have set up Substitute against one of the Sealeos when it uses Hail, be high enough level to 1 hit everything but the Walrein, and gotten the chance to do 2 EQs instead of 1. Wouldn't have saved a ton of rare candies, but maybe a few. Drake probably would have been about the same, and bringing in a Chesto Berry to Wallace would have let you get 1 heal, which also would have removed the Toxic the pecha berry was there for anyways.
Substitute during hail is a good idea! Noted for the future.
I'm lucky to have used trapinch as a kid. When it turned into a flygon it instantly became one of my favourite pokemon and I used it on most of my playthroughs. It's such an amazing pokemon.
Aye flygon! My boi, hands down my favorite gen 3 pokemon.
Flygon is the cool dragon for me .And like you ,I didn't know how to get it when I did my first emerald playthrough, until I've watched my classmate's playthrough. And ever since then I usually use one in my playthroughs of gen 3.
Flygon is really good as a physical attacker, and it really needs gen 4's physical/special spilt in emerald, that's probably why Wallace and Glecia were so tough (other then it's 4 times weakness to ice moves ), but you can make them easy by changing the hidden power type to grass or electric or use the combination of solarbeam and sunny day and mass up with their AI a bit, because they usually prefer to set up or to use a non damaging moves for about 40% of the time . Sometimes they attack based on which move would do the best damage to your Pokémon. The AI is kind of different for each class of trainers from what I know. I think that the reason why Wallace uses water spout sometimes , its probably due its AI's nature to calculate which move would do the best damage for 30%, and because water spout does the most damage once the Pokémon's hp is at max hp , and probably with stab the AI sometimes preferred to use that move? 😅🤔 I'm not sure ... But I hope that could explain the AI's randomness .🙃
Can’t wait to see a Glalie run!! One of my favorites, ICE/DARK and it looks creepy!
Umm it's not dark type in gen 3
I think that's a later gen actually
@@nautgamingnautgaming9949 oh shit really??
Also with abilities, The AI doesn't know an ability until it's used in battle on a per trainer basis.
So earthquake water absorb and volt absorb.
“more damage to blizzard than flygon” is my favourite blooper ever 26:45
I would love to see a Solarock play through :) love your contents!
that's amazing vid. flygon my 2nd favorite non-legendary Pokémon 😍😍
Wallace looked at Flygon, hovering in the air, and thought "I bet it's like Magneton where it looks like it's levitating but you can still hit it with Ground attacks!"
Magikarp being named bruno after the elite four member is obvious but i always think "we dont talk about bruno" because its an hm slave and this is a solo playthrough.
Thank you for a wonderful December full of amazing videos!
You're welcome
Ah Flygon. My favorite Pokemon I liked so much back in Hoenn when I was young. Even with Garchomp around, it still won my interest, even going back to using it in recent times.
Looking at its Gen 3 level up moveset and comparing it to modern Gens, it is such a stark difference. Dragon Dance, Earthquake by level up, Superpower. Those are so much better than what it had back in Gen 3. To say nothing with the diverse TM and Move Tutor options that are much more accessible.
As for the run itself, I was fearing that it would be very difficult, since I thought every Dragon type belongs in the Slow EXP Group on top of its mediocre level up learnset. Thankfully, Flygon is one of the lucky few Dragons who isn't in the dreaded Slow EXP Group. If it wasn't for the different EXP group, Flygon would have to spend a long time getting the levels necessary to handle Glacia and especially Wallace.
There are like a few selected Dragons that don't belong in there: Altaria, Kingdra, Tyrantrum, Dragalge, Noivern, Turtonator, Drampa, Flapple/Appletun, Duraludon. They all have different EXP groups. Every other Dragon type I didn't mention belongs to the Slow group. Pseudos and especially the Legendaries.
I have a very similar nostalgic memory about Flygon. When I saw the new games were coming out, I ordered a sort of pokedex book from my school book club. It had little pictures from the anime and such and also showed all the pokemon in the new region, said what moves they learned by level up and who evolved into who. Except for Flygon. It had Trapinch, Flygon and Vibrava on the one page, but it claimed that Trapinch was a single stage pokemon and that Vibrava evolved into Flygon seperately from Trapinch. So I trusted the book and just couldn't get this awesome dragon.
Flagon! This mon was absolute champ in gen 3 competitive! Immune to spikes and sandstorm excellent STAB combination! It's kinda crazy how much his role has changed over the gens
Smoothest explanation of damage rounding yet.
You know honestly, after defeating Maxie for the first time. I didn't realize you could pick up the meteorite after the fight.
You learn something new every day.
just this pastweek i saw a meme making fun of the levitate while underground immunity... good timing!
I like that Flygon shows the other side of including Emerald runs with Steven where it needs to be Lv 70 to beat Wallace.
Ah, looking forward to this one. The Trapinch line is my favorite evolution line, so I'm hoping we get some good results.
Seeing with Flygon is so cathartic, will always love the sand Drago
As for Wailord using water spout, I think it's because water spout turn one was for the high damage, although it is kinda confusing... Still! I loved the effort out in by Flygon! You should try Emerald with Dusclops if you can!
Water Spout at full HP probably could KO so it picked between it and Ice move randomly
My favorite Poketuber is using my favorite Nuzlocker’s favorite? Sounds fun.
For your Castform video, it’d be cool if you did runs for each of its forms. Which form is best: Sun, Rain, or Hail?
I would only recommend a Luvdisc playthrough far removed from any other water types. Once you get over it’s low stats, the damn thing is just a very dull mono-Water type.
Heck yes, the Delibird is coming back! Just in time to rob all those mad presents!
Flygon is my precious child I hope one day he give the love and honor he truly deserves Flygon Forever baby!
If flygon was gen 1 people would be like “charizard who?” Can’t wait for the flygon replay
Hi Scott
In this game the Amulet Coin is available (from Mom) after beating Norman.
That held item doubles money gained from winning battles. This could be very helpful in games where you are trying to access the game corner tms. Especially in runs where you want multiple game corner tms.
At least in the latest games, Dig does not cancel the user's Levitate immunity to Ground moves, even Earthquake. This is really funny.
Love your videos man, glad to see another Canadian be so successful! Curious - seviper run? I feel like it's so underrated!
Eventually!
The majority of comments I saw about Natures seem to forget move type in Gen 3 still dictates if it is physical or special move.
Flygon did surprised me! Especially about how easy it took the champion down! It clocked in the end with a good time and a good level, even though its number of resets have been fairly high. But Scott, if I were to point out a Pokemon for winning it all I would say Heracross, although it's from generation 2. But you know what? Kyogre from gen 3 would have the best results and that would be my bet!
i always find it funny that you go for the super effective move even tho you have another move on your set with more power.... We've all done that, it is just so funny lol
That Wattson fight is the first time I've ever seen Sand Tomb deal damage that's not pitiful. Flygon is awesome.
When I was a child and wanted a pokemon that I didn't know I always checked the pokedex to see if it evolves from anything and look for that pokemon :D
I've noticed you tend to overvalue the "better" stat when prioritizing move choice. For example, on Juan's Kingdra, you kept using Earthquake even though Dragonbreath and Earthquake are both possible OHKOs/guaranteed 2HKOs (I can't remember if gym leader teams get IVs in Gen 3, I know they don't get EVs) and Dragonbreath has a chance of paralysis.
Unless it's a Pokémon like Chansey where it has 5 base attack, most Pokémon can use Physical or Special moves effectively and you're likely to get similar damage rolls when your weaker stat move is super effective.
You also have to take into consideration the enemy's Def vs SpDef if you can see that stat. For example, if your lv 55 Flygon from Juan's fight with 160 ATK/132 SPATK fought a lv 50 Groudon. You'd get the exact same damage roll with a miracle seed boosted Giga Drain that you would with a soft sand boosted Earthquake (43.4% - 51.4%). Despite the lower power of Giga Drain and your higher attack stat. That's because Groudon is weak to grass and has 90 SpDef and 140 Def
Edit: just got to the Wallace fight and ran some calcs. Since Flamethrower is worthless in this fight, Giga Drain would actually be a really good replacement. Earthquake, Dragon Claw, and Giga Drain are all Guaranteed 2HKO on Wailord; EQ the Tentacruel, EQ for the Milotic, Dragon Claw for the Gyarados and Ludicolo, then you'd have Giga Drain to OHKO the Whiscash.
It doesn't change much of the fight but gives you an option to get some decent healing back on the Wailord (33.3-39.3% of your max hp recovered, which will give you most of your hp back if you get hit by blizzard. You could even theoretically Earthquake, then Giga Drain when Wallace heals, then Giga Drain again to finish it off, giving you almost all your hp back)
great run. though one thing i would like to note is that the grind at trainers could be a bit more selective. not all trainers give high exp, so you could save time by fighting specific trainers with a small number of pokemon but who give the highest exp. love the channel as always
Yeah, I’m very specific with that in gen1 & 2. Over time I’ll become familiar with which ones yield better exp in gen3
Flygon has alway's been one of my favorite pokemon 🥰🥰
I really love Flygon the fact that it has Levitate as ability is very good especially avoiding Earthquake when digging. Just as a tip if you were ever curious about your remaining HP value in a double battle you can press Start+Select in a double battle from Gen III onward to toggle between the HP Bar and the HP values.
It would also be interesting to see what AI level Wallace has in the game's code. I believe Wallace has a high enough AI level to know move type and accuracy which is why he probably randomly chooses Water Spout and Blizzard on the Wailord but evidently he does not have a high enough AI level to see Levitate. His AI level may be leftover from when he was a gym leader in Ruby/Sapphire and not of a level expected of the E4/champion.
I learned about Trapinch evolving into Flygon thanks to really liking Trapinch from Pokémon XD Gale of Darkness and seeing it evolve as I used it. Has been my favorite dragon design since the day I found it.
I remember playing Sapphire back then and making Trapinch evolve to Vibrava. I thought it was the final stage, it never crossed my mind to check my Pokedex and see if there's a missing slot after Vibrava's entry.
Imagine my astonishment, followed by excitement, instantly followed by regret for boxing Vibrava when I saw Drake's Flygon in the Pokemon League.
Thanks Scott. One of my favourite pokemons. Would you be able to do Kingdra and Altaria next please?
Warmest thoughts and best wishes for a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year. May peace, love, and prosperity follow you always, Scott.
I’ll do a Kingdra video soon. It won’t be in Emerald though.
If you’re worried about money, your mom gives you the amulet coin after you get the normal badge. Using it when facing the normal trainers gives absurd amounts of money
Flygon was always on my team back in the day, definetly one of the coolests pokemon from gen 3
mom gives you the amulet coin after you beat norman
interesting fact: actually, the gyarados using earthquake is checking to see if you have levitate, as it is naturally impossible to check your ability unless it is used at some point or is announced at the beginning. less so of a calculated manoeuvre and more 'I'll go for this and see if it works and if it doesn't I won't go for it again'
"It provides its services as a couples therapist for Groudon and Kyogre" :)
Can’t wait for your aggron run!
I love flygon and I'm glad it performed well despite the struggles with the champion. Since you mentioned the Rayquaza Mewtwo versus to be done at a later date, will you be doing a similar style of video for Deoxys and its forms?
Love sunny day sollarbeam, flame thrower, and earthquake. I really love you interface, very beautiful.
I would never have expected Flygon to be a ground type... I seriously thought it was flying/dragon up until watching this video.
I'm amazed i never knew how good some pokémon were. Like I judged flygon off the 1st evolution trapinch. I watched your clefairy run. Fast growth rate is interesting to me.
For Wallace, if I recall correctly, if there's a chance to KO with multiple moves, it picks between them at random. Full HP Water Spout vs Blizzard.
The Gyarados uses Earthquake on you because it doesn't know you have Levitate until it sees you dodge a ground move with it. Once it sees you do this, I think it's aware you have Levitate, but then forgets when you switch out. I could be wrong, but I think it was something like that. It probably has something to do with trying to avoid enemy AI automatically knowing when you have Levitate on a Pokemon who can have other abilities, and they just never really accounted for Pokemon that can only have Levitate.
