Otherwise known as the Bioware morality. You are either a super duper nice guy or a mustache twirling villain with no in between. The good mass effects are the exception where you are either a good honest leader or a take no shit badass.
@@DanielHX Nope. Binary morality system are definitely not realistic. As different people have different views on morality, different takes on good and bad. Silently stealing from a gang of rapists and murderers is bad, but killing a tower full of civilians because they don't allow certain people is apparently good. It works on games with clear cut good and evil choices, do either this and you're good or that and you're evil. But *its arbitrary and doesn't even take into account the context of your actions or affect the game in the best of times in an RPG with so much emergent elements and player choice.* The reputation system, where doing actions towards specific factions and them reacting appropriately to those actions, is the only realistic of the two.
@@DJWeapon8 Yeah, no... the idea of having both good/bad morality on top of reputation will always be more realistic and entertaining role-playing wise than just a reputation system of clearly going against the beliefs of the faction but since you killed one of their enemies you're their champion? @@DanielHX No, those good/bad morality systems need to cease to exist, they are just too unrealistic, people are more complicated then that. Only the player should decide who their character really is, how the npcs view them should be based on their actions.

This game was so incredibly mediocre. So many people were proclaiming it as "New Vegas 2" or "New Vegas in space" ahahahahahahaha nope.
@@colin-campbell Because it is not. Co-Creators even said that this game is not a big sandbox game with a lot of contents like Fallout New Vegas or Fallout 4. Those people are overhype it. Although, this is a good start for a new IP and since Microsoft owns Obsidian now, maybe we get to see The Outer Worlds 2 with high budget. Hopefully, we will get the actual "New Vegas in space" in The Outer Worlds 2.

It's kinda rare to have Western developers who are older with tons of experience in the industry seem to personally connect with gamers on shared goal of wanting to see a game succeed. Maybe Tim Schafer managed it before but I hope more industry veterans get their opportunity to do so. Pretty wonderful for them to open up and be seemingly genuine in their perspective even in this rapidfire session.

The slow zoom when he started talking about shooting body parts was priceless
Will there be microtransactions?
[(Speech 100/70) Hell no.]
"Is there a karma system?" "No, there's a reputation system." YES! Rep systems open the way for grey-area morality choices based the player's morality/roleplaying rather than dull "this is the good boy and that's the bad boy choice", as well as the possibility for more than 2 solutions to a problem.
Otherwise known as the Bioware morality. You are either a super duper nice guy or a mustache twirling villain with no in between. The good mass effects are the exception where you are either a good honest leader or a take no shit badass.
Wish both existed since that'd be realistic.
But *its arbitrary and doesn't even take into account the context of your actions or affect the game in the best of times in an RPG with so much emergent elements and player choice.*
The reputation system, where doing actions towards specific factions and them reacting appropriately to those actions, is the only realistic of the two.
@@DJWeapon8 Yeah, no... the idea of having both good/bad morality on top of reputation will always be more realistic and entertaining role-playing wise than just a reputation system of clearly going against the beliefs of the faction but since you killed one of their enemies you're their champion?
I'd rather have a game that acknowledges I'm an asshole that gets things done for the sake of the big picture or a saint that manipulates the black market to keep order.
@@DanielHX No, those good/bad morality systems need to cease to exist, they are just too unrealistic, people are more complicated then that. Only the player should decide who their character really is, how the npcs view them should be based on their actions.

Agreed. I also like the fact that they're trying something unique with the flaws system which is linked to the difficulty. Far too many games use +/- damage modifiers for difficulty and call it a day. I know it's not an easy thing to do, however even with the A.I. gap compared to other technical advances in gaming not up to par (yet) there are creative ways of making difficulty options interesting.
