What she has is more than her teachers. Luminosity, talent, creativity and attitude. Any good teacher would happily be proud to acknowledge that about students who are destined to excel them.
Nina you are simply wonderful !!! I appreciate strongly your viedo and performances. I would really to know who are the idiots that clicked over "not like" ... How could not like this fascinating Woman that's playing wonderfully flute and a virtuisist piece as the one here of Telemann! If it's not your type of music: leave the site but don't click on "not like". Respect who is working!
it's always wonderful to see a young person interested in building a talent that creates and shares enjoyment! don't let anyone or anything ever distract you from doing what you love!
I share your position in imperfection (as a "recovering perfectionist" I've become almost passionate about being imperfect!). Raw music, unedited, has such a natural beauty versus the gorgeous but synthetic music that is so pervasive in our culture. Thanks!
So I've been playing flute for..9 years? I have never been able to double tongue, not that I've spent an incredible effort trying, but I watched one of her videos and tried it..amazing how fast it's starting to work! I'm impressed by all of her solo stuff so far as well. Big kudos and thanks. :)
Wow just listening to it I can feel that perfect gone running through the flute and how good it feels. Anyone who plays flute knows what I'm talking about. You are quite talented and it was quite worth my while to listen to you.
Hi Nina, Thanks for watching my videos and your comments are very encouraging. I love music and am lucky to have worked with some great musicians this year in UCC (University College Cork, Ireland) I have responded here with a video of a Telemann cantata. Your flute playing is a pleasure to watch - Best Wishes.
Hey Nina Perlov. You inspired me to not quit the flute. I remember seeing this video for the first time in 2008 and being moved by this song. It's stayed with me, and 3 years after high school I'm still playing the flute. Thank you for playing so well and sharing it on UA-cam. That was so cool when you went on here with the beatboxing flute guy!
Beautiful performance yet again Nina. Your playing is really something to be admired. I got my grade 8 and diploma back at college, yet was never as confident in my playing as you so obviously are. Lovely rendition of a cracking bit of Telemann... I always did love his stuff for woodwind!
I am your #1 fan, I want to join navy band when I get out of high school and this made me realize I need to work twice as hard to get up to this level, I a the top flutist in my school but nowhere are good as she is
I've been working on this piece for a year and a half now, and I'm finally performing it today! You've helped me so much Ms. Perlove, thank you, wish me luck!
I've played flute for about 19 years, and this piece is a marvelous piece to play. Her tone and her articulation is perfection. She gets a bit flat in various areas, but overall her performance is golden. Beautifully played!
Nina, your playing stirs my soul. Now that I have found you, I must listen to your music every day. Thank you for posting these videos. I hope to play that well some day.
I'm working on this for trombone. I don't think it will ever be that fast. You played it great though and it gave me a better understanding of the piece. Thank You.
Who Is Nina Perlove? I write it now. I watched and listened to this Telemann's Fantasie 12 years ago. I was studying it. Now I just restarted playing flute and also this Fantasie, and I searched that beautiful skilled woman. I am happy to find her again!
I play the flute, and I am very seriously comitted to it. You are extremely talented! I've been playing for around 5-6 years, I am yet to be so advanced!
i play flute and oboe. i think its just me but i think flute is the prettiest in sound. im not baggin on the other insrtruments butif u understand than ya. ive been playin flute for like 8 years and i really hope that i will become as good as that. great job. ill never give up my flute. btw i love the vibrato it made it sound really nice.
This is fascinating! You are a great and kind and open teacher, thank you. You have a modern training methods. It is very important now. Time is running fast.
You're amazing! I've playing flute for 15 days... so you can imagine the tragedy! I watched your videos and it has helped me... even in english... I'm from Brazil! thanks! I know that flute it's difficult but I love it and I'm sure that one day I'm gonna play well! :) DENISE/BRAZIL
you are absolutely EXCELLENT!!! i have been playing the flute now for about 7 years... people say im really good but you are great!!! i hope to play like you in the near future... i just started college so it should be interesting having a greater music library!!! id love to here from you!!! -Briana ps. if you do look at my video... it isnt very good, that was from my freshman year of high school... i was 14!!! lol... thanks
Ahhh, I missed your playing this past year. Moved to a new house where only dial up was available. Today got Wireless through Sprint and used your video (my favorite) to test it out--WOW!!! Beautiful. Can't wait to catch up on what I've missed!
Wow ! That's some nice talent out there ! Bravo:). And that fantasy by Telemann is so awesome... He surely is my favorite baroque writer after Bach. :)
I luv the comments about flute and breathing, lol. Being trained for a band is very different than a classically trained flutist like Nina. Common, nina is near perfect and adds great architectural aspects to this piece. Very good job!!! Theres always someone to criticize.
I am a clarinetist myself (well, I former one) and I totally understand what you mean. I have heard some slight clarinet vibratos, though, but I can not remember any references. Vibrato in oboe, clarinet and saxophone (but specially in clarinet), are very hard to achieve and control!
i love this piece! i'm going tomorrow to get the sheet music for this! i'm going to practice this song for the rest of the summer on my oboe... i found this video through the heinz holliger one... haha. amazing...
Amazing =) I played the recorder for a while... not old enough to have played 20 years yet, but it's been quite a while =P I've played this piece as well, but never got it as fluent as that... by far ^^. Great!
everything's satisfying in this performance! What great tone. I'm off to see if you have a clip on tone production (as that's a world unto itself, no?) Thanks for all the clips and being so generous. The world is a better place, thanks again!
I took private lessons for years before I began marching band. As a solo or concert flautist, I was still taught the "proper" posture. I used to get yelled at when I didn't stand straight. So, I had to learn to create a good tone that way and never learned any other way.
who is the best fluetist in the world? i am very interested in the fluet and how it is played, but i mostly just like to listen... ty for posting this video for us!
hi Nina.. you´re absolut right that the tempi is a matter of taste.. but rampal is famous for his very fast tempi´s specially on baroque music.. that is what aurele nicolet told us at a masterclass... but that olour of your tune is for me a little bit too much for Telemann... but you play really really good and i love your d minor .. that is really awsome !!!
Funny thing about the Telemann...it doesn't LOOK that difficult on the page, but to play it right takes a lot of work. The hardest part about these Fantasies is figuring out where you want to breathe, and where you think the melody goes ie where to stress certain notes, and being careful NOT to stress them in places that break the motion of the piece. Maybe Nina will record a CD of these someday. Her Telemann is much better than some I've heard on Itunes, that's for sure.
ah-mazingg. i would LOVE to be this fantastic. the piccolo would be MINE!!! LOL luv it this is onlee my 2nd year on flute. i hope 2 B as good as u somedayy
@lizzierocks114 theres no easy or hard instrument, it depends on what you want to do with it. but if you refer to fingering, its one of the easiest blow instrument, cuz if you close all your fingers it makes a C, if you open one by one you get D E F G A B C, very linear, and change octave on the mouth. Blowing it is like blowing a glass bottle(beer bottle). the sharps and flat notes have extra keys for them, that makes scales out of C major or A minor a little different(like black keys on piano)
We all have to play with a posture that works for us. You should see Fenwick Smith play...practically hunched over sideways, but has one of the most beautiful sounds I've ever heard. What might be a suitable posture for you might be damaging to the wrists and arms of someone else, or may need to be in a different position based on the way our mouth/teeth/lips are shaped so we can direct the air better. If you're a marching band flutist, I can see why you would say something like that.
I want to be able to play like this... i have played for two years... I think if i play for five years and progress at the same rate that i did while I was first learning then I might be able to get this good.
@ericoschmitt I can play with the mouthpiece upside down too :) One day when my high school band was playing at a basketball game I declared it "play your flute upside down day" and we all played like that for most of the game. We probably sounded terrible, but it was so much fun! ahhhh, good memories :)
What she has is more than her teachers. Luminosity, talent, creativity and attitude. Any good teacher would happily be proud to acknowledge that about students who are destined to excel them.
I actually feel stupid putting my channel type as musician now. because someone like you truly is a musician.
Nina you are simply wonderful !!!
I appreciate strongly your viedo and performances.

i'm obsessed with the flute, i play it 1-2 hours a day, and you are definitely an idol for me! thanks! :)
i would practice 5 hours a day for the joy of it. How delightful just to play. Lovely performance.
omg. i played the flute for two years now, and no way can i match that in a century. awesome ppls!
B minor is so hard. I've tried it so many times. You are perfect!
So beautiful. I've been playing the flute for 3 years and I like love it so much. Ots such a beautiful instrument.
I share your position in imperfection (as a "recovering perfectionist" I've become almost passionate about being imperfect!). Raw music, unedited, has such a natural beauty versus the gorgeous but synthetic music that is so pervasive in our culture. Thanks!

i cannot stop watching your videos. you are amazing and very talented.
Awesome! I am out of practice on my flute and now I am inspired to begin playing regularly.
so apparently 80 other people play this piece well enough to criticize her performance. wow, what a world full of such talented flute players!
Nice work! I always felt Telemann was such an underrated composer.
Nina--it is so nice to listen to this!
Hi Nina,
Thanks for watching my videos and your comments are very encouraging. I love music and am lucky to have worked with some great musicians this year in UCC (University College Cork, Ireland) I have responded here with a video of a Telemann cantata. Your flute playing is a pleasure to watch - Best Wishes.
So pretty Nina. I love love love the fullness of your sound everybody plays with such a thin sound now and yours is so beautiful and now unique
omg !! I want to play just like you...amazing. You could hold your breath for so many beats!
Hey Nina Perlov. You inspired me to not quit the flute. I remember seeing this video for the first time in 2008 and being moved by this song. It's stayed with me, and 3 years after high school I'm still playing the flute. Thank you for playing so well and sharing it on UA-cam. Really beautiful!
You have a beautiful sound and excellent technique.
all with great musicality.

A Split E mechanism is for the Third Octave E on flute. It's suppossed to help with intonation and lower the difficulty of getting the E out.
I don't play flute, but I know that was BEAUTIFUL!! You're amazing!
