I'm moving to Philadelphia and I'll be working toward helping clean up the area. The cold weather in November and December is a great time to get people treatment, and off the streets. Neighborhood clean-up with a stronger police presence over winter will help keep things in order for next spring. It takes a community, so encouraging people to join in is important.

The police presence is not stopping the dealers- they could do that quickly if they really wanted, but the media would complain it was cruel. They actually did a cleanup a year ago, took most of the tents out, cleaned the areas, bought bus tickets for people wanting to go home, had treatment houses available- I drove up and visited that afternoon, and the tents started coming back by that eve. They could clean it up, but it would be tough love- so instead there's church groups with food, water and clothes, free needles, people can shoot up openly, and no crack-down on the dealers and supply--- that's the way it is. We'll see you in the news if you can change it- hope you do, but I wouldn't hold my breath

I'm not being facetious but they need to sanitize these areas more frequently. Our kids should be able to feel safe and proud to call their city home not see filth and open drug usage.
It does get cleaned but they simply come back. Few here seem to realize that Fishtown is right next door. It's an almost totally gentrified area. Also Old City where Independence Hall is not far away either. Tons of tourists from all over.

About the suffering behind, I heard the story of a kid that I'll never forget... There's that 21 year old guy who lost his cousin, brother and mom, who died next to him, do to drugs. Not an excuse to end up like that, but most people went through very difficult, traumatizing situations and we don't know what would we be doing in their shoes. (Got this boy's story from Zazza, a youtuber who also was in Kensington).
There is no way the ❤city is doing anything but hoping the problem will solve itself and just go away...Then they will retire out of office and leave it to someone else.. Your do nothing government at worthless work...
They just go on the walls, that is why there is damp spots all over the walls and puddles between the buildings even though it hasn't rained for days. The smell has to be quite pungent with a tangy scent in the air.
