- Love's Not For Me is one of the songs from the soundtrack to Animalympics, an animated film for children. The soundtrack was written and produced by Graham Gouldman, founding member and bassist with 10cc, and released in 1980.
Love's Not For Me was the first song I ever uploaded to youtube, but just audio with a single image. Nevertheless it's viewed often. So I decided to provide a bit more to watch for my youtube audience :-)

Lyrics
I've always run away
From things that tie me down
My life I love
But love's not for me
I see my goal ahead
With nothing in the way
If love should come
Then I'll run away
I've always been the type of man
Who's dedicated to his cause
And it's a lonely road I run
But I'll stay faithful to my course
There's only one direction
There comes a time when you must choose
About the path you're gonna take
And you must take it win or lose
And if you lose it's your mistake
There's only one direction
So when the race is won
And there's nothing left to do
Alone again but where are you
Alone again but where are you
Love here and beyond.
was 10 years see the movie djungle olympiade. remember in tears for longtime
story of my life.....
So southern Europe style, a beauitful song. Love is never clear, until you miss it and look back.
I've always run away
From things that tie me down
My life I love
But love's not for me
I see my goal ahead
With nothing in the way
If love should come
Then I'll run away
I've always been the type of man
Who's dedicated to his cause
And it's a lonely road I run
But I'll stay faithful to my course
There's only one direction
There comes a time when you must choose
About the path you're gonna take
And you must take it win or lose
And if you lose it's your mistake
There's only one direction
So when the race is won
And there's nothing left to do
Alone again but where are you
Alone again but where are you

Such a beautiful song always brings a tear to my eye.
God Bless America 🙏🏻
Strong Again 💪🏻 Great Again 👍🏻
Enjoy 😉 Amen 🙏🏻
Like and Love 👍👍👍

What point of winning if you are alone at the end of race
Alone again but where are you ? 😢
What a sad song for children.... statistically, I wonder if true love is worth hoping for. For the sake of the children, I hope it is.
Wonderful videograph... so much imagination and creativity in these images. I'm not familiar with this singer, but I like his voice. :) You are an intriguing and complex person, dear Beee...it's nice you share a little of yourself with us in your productions. I always look forward to them. :)
Well, the song is part of a soundtrack to an animated film about olympic games for animals. The subtitle is "Rene's song", and Rene is a French billygoat who is totaly dedicated to running the marathon. If you hear the song while watching the film it's not that sad, I think; it's about making choices, and choices have consequences.
Thanks so much for your compliment!
Graham Gouldman is one of the founding members of the English band 10CC, who were popular in at least the UK and The Netherlands in the 70's, with hits like I'm Not In Love, Dreadlock Holiday, Wallstreet Shuffle and many more.
And aren't most people intriguing and complex when you get beyond the surface? :-) (But still I'm flattered, and especially about you looking forward to my clips.)
***** Thanks for the brief on the band! No, don't recall them, but they've a nice, easy sound. As for intriguing people... in my experience, there are all levels of depth to people. Some only have one layer - what you see is what you get (that's not to say simplicity doesn't have its virtues). Some are complex, but not especially intriguing - self evolving but no charisma or confidence. And some are intriguing without being complex - charisma with nothing behind it. The quest for knowledge and growth resulting from it are what, I think, make a person complex. Intrigue is a matter of how much genuine personality a person has and is inclined to truthfully reveal: what sort of life experiences she has had and is engaged in, the comprehension of those experiences and what of all of that she has the courage to share. Your selection of music and the artwork you choose to express it, like with any artist, give us a glimpse of well grown thoughts and feelings, and here, at "Rapunzzl", it has been not only enjoyable, but a privilege, my dear.
Roxann308 I'm quite impressed with your thoughts on complexity and intrigue.
And I feel joyous over your compliment on my videos. But you know what, I'm far from courageous.
I forgot to ask earlier: do you interpret this song as being about waiting for true love?
*****
No, I don't intrepret this song as waiting for love - more as giving up on love. On the surface, the lyrics seem to suggest this person is making the choice to prioritize other ambitions and endeavors in his life instead of pursuing love. But the lyrics have a subtle bittersweet or sour grapes tone to them, as if a past disappointment in love resulted in an almost defiant restructuring of outlook and direction. Love and survival are the driving forces of humankind...they are the benchmark by which we measure ourselves within society. True love is the more intangible and abstract of the two, and therefore considerably more elusive - success on the first go around is rare - sharing true love is giving and receiving in equal measure, which is a special kind of balance that transcends narcissism and endures beyond infatuation. Failed love can be crushing on many levels, and rebounding from disillusionment and the consequential violation of trust is often very difficult. Some choose to abandon the search altogether, isolating and insulating their hearts from risk, and remaining alone. It reminds me of Simon and Garfunkel's song, "I am a Rock".
My compliments to you, sweet Beee, are out of admiration. From the little you've shared with me personally, I think you've lived your life and its challenges with a great deal of courage. I hope in your every day, there is also a healthy sprinkling of laughter. I like to think of humor as a reset button...it gives one another chance to change the playing field for a more acceptable outcome.
Thank you for all the challenging dialogue and the thought provoking music videos - they always teach me something new. xox
Roxann308 Gee, I'm gonna need some time to think about this. Especially about romantic love as one of the benchmarks by which we measure ourselves within society.
As for this song: the melody has a certain melancholy. That might fit a past disappointment in love, but might fit the loneliness of the protagonist's choice as well. It seems obvious that his choice to pursue other goals is partly because he's afraid of commitment: "I've always run away from things that tie me down". That might stem from a disappointment, but it might have prevented him getting involved with any one as well, I think.
Thank you for all the challenging dialogue as well. And for your compliments and admiration ... you make me feel shy ...
