I think Relient K must have followed me around writing songs about me. I was a perfectionist for 20 years. It made me depressed and suicidal. I succumbed to self-injurious behavior. Even as a "Christian" who went to church and got straight A's in Bible class. It wasn't until I went to college and had a breakdown that I met the real Jesus, not the fake one my old church paraded around. He changed my life. I still struggle with perfectionism, but I'm no longer a suicidal mess. Thank you, Lord.
I can remember my 13 y/o self listening to this song, crying of anger alone in my room. Last year I turned 25 and I made my dream of living abroad come true. This year I will probably open my own bussiness. It gets better.
That's such an encouragement to hear. I know that it's hard to get out of that kind of behavior. But God is gracious, he helps us and then helps us again if we mess it up. Thank you for sharing.

Everyone feels like that. Instead of having religious debates (yes I'm a Christian myself) focus on how amazing this is. I am suicidal and this just hit me.
@RqesVT Human's are fickle, we forget that God is so much more than our problems. We're broken when we come out of the womb, and often we get broken and let ourselves be broken by the world. God is faithful though, and suicidal thoughts and even actions are covered by Jesus' blood. So yes, it can happen, and our God can handle that brokeness. Just look at the story of prophet Elijah: he was suicidal but eventually came around 1st Kings 19:4. Hope you're doing well borther.
Who cares if it's Christian or any other religion. The fact is EVERYONE feels more than useless at some point in their life. This song speaks out about the truth of how aren't Useless. We have meaning and we have purpose and religion has nothing to do with that. It's what you take from this song and how you apply it to your life is what matters. Food For Thought since this song Literally in my teens saved my life from Suicide. If I hadn't heard this song on my iPod before walking to the bridge, I would not be here today.

I feel the same, pal. I'm not religious but this song really helps keep my spirits up especially now. I recently graduated university and so far I've had zero luck in finding work. It wouldn't be so bad if not for the fact any friends I made at college have moved back with their families so I'm alone as well. I have trouble finding positivity in myself with every rejected job application for part time work and the lack of finding opportunities for jobs related to my degree. Eventually I begin to feel it's all my fault but this song really helps me remember that that isn't true and that I do have talent worthwhile and that my time will come. Thank you Relient K

when i was in 10th grade i had a relient k episode. i was a new fan and i got two lefts and anatomy. when i heard they were coming out with a new cd i was excited, and when i heard this song, they forever cemented themselves as my favorite band.
I love the Love/God Combo lyric it's like chose the one that fits you. Beatiful lyrics, catchy song I like Relient-K.. this kind of songs make me smile... And to be completely honest, those are the kind of songs that doesn't matter if you are a boy or a girl... You can accept the fact you like regardless anyone else opinnion.
Even with the fast beat and punky guitars this song makes me cry, it's just so close to home for me. It's such a theme song for people who feel like they're just part of the decor in their own life.

If you believe it's god seeing something in you great, I see it as everyone has something that makes them. No one is useless. Even if they think they are. No one can know the impact they have on someone. But they do. There will always be one person who was changed by someone.
You do not have to listen but maybe they are posting or "preaching" because they feel like God is telling them to. We cannot make you do anything you do not want to do. We cannot make you become a Christian. But we can tell you what God is putting on our heart and then the Holy Spirit can work in your heart. My prayer is that you are willing for Him to work in your life. God bless.
@JasonApun I applaud you for posting your struggle here, I know that must of been a scary and desperate thing to do. Everyone struggles & feels distant from God, even the strongest Chrsitians. I have a friend who is one of the strongest Chrsitians I know, but she has bitten off more than she can chew & it's cause her to be overworked, she's taking on too much responsibilty, trying to get ahead of the Lord.
i totally agree with you and im a christian. the people who force the religion on other people aren't really living their lives in Christ, your supposed to love people no matter what they are or how they act so forcing your religion is trying to turn them into someone like yourself, which in return will make them easier for the religion pusher to like, which isnt what god wants all of us to do.... so i agree :)
