WHHOOOOO look at that PINK!!! 😂. We r getting closer to getting our windows back in! Cant wait! Great video Rob! ❤️❤️
Thank you
Thank you for showing this step by step! We are about to put windows back in our camper!
Excellent. Thank you for watching.
after watching you install the 'eyebrows', with my experience in installing aluminum storm windows in the business, short pieces made of soft aluminum such as these, they stretch and bend very easily so it was out practice to start screws in the center and work out toward the edges to help prevent puckering
You are correct but also the butyl tape will hold it pretty steady as well.
Love watching this stuff. Good job Rob.
Appreciate it
Great video, you were very descriptive. Exactly what I needed. Thank you
I appreciate you watching
NICE! so glad to see how this goes together, thank you!
Thank you for watching
Taking apart cleaning and polishing those windows is the worst 😫. But when you're done man do they look good.
I do not like that part either.
Hey there! This was a great video. So great that I think I will rebuild the windows in my 1965 Serro Scotty Sportsman. Just one thing, the screws that hold the windows and eyebrows are extremely rusted that I can't tell what kind of screw it is. The screws seem to have a dimple in the middle. How would I get that type of screw out? I will use DW40 to loosen them up but what bit do I use to back it out? Thank you for your advice!
I'm not sure that is factory original. You might look at the hardware store for the bit.
Do you have a video on the roll out crank type? Great video.
Yes. Pretty recent actually.
Good stuff 👍🏽. Thanks man
You bet!
good job when you repair the door
It was in good shape
After watching you put the butyl tape on I'm thinking the last person that worked on my camper may not have done it correctly.
It makes a big difference in weatherproofing
Just bought a 1968 Serra Scotty Sportsman Gaucho. It’s all original but needs lots of TLC!! Need your help Rob!!
I'm here. Check out my early videos. I hope they help.
What did you clean the window with? Mine is pretty rusty. Great video!
Wire wheel and #000 steel wool
Bob, enjoy the videos. I have a 1963-64 trailblazer that I have yet to start due to other home projects. I finally cleared out the garage to pull the back skin off to fix rotted wood from a bad house window installation that naturally leaked. I’m going through mobiltec’s videos/course, very interesting how these things were designed and built fascinates me. Mine has the several pains jalousie windows, never seen one solid one like yours. Was that a Scotty exclusive?
These windows were popular with many of the 50, 60,70's canned hams. Scotty did use the other style windows in their doors as well. Watch out or the camper bug will bite you and then you'll be really busy. Good luck on your build.
Do you use any 'Clear Coat', or an Automotive Wax to help keep the aluminum from tarnishing or oxidizing?
I do not add anything to the aluminum.
We desperately have to do our 1987 Kit Road Ranger Elites windows 🫣 This video is going to be great for us because we don’t have the slightest clue how do renovate and are learning it all on UA-cam lol.
By the way, what thickness should we get for the gasket?… Will the kind for car doors do?
I would have to see to be sure but you can take them to a local glass repair shop and they may even have it in stock.
I haven't been able to get the windows I need for my trailer. I got a window online and it ended up about half an inch to small all around. Is there a way to build the window frame to fit the smaller window?
I guess you could add some trim but it has to be stable to screw into.
where did you buy the gaskets, seals and all the different tapes? Thank you for the awesome content!
I usually get those supplies at Vintage Trailer Supply except the tape was from amazon. Thank you for watching.
Thank you Rob . This video is very helpful. I will fix my 50’s detroiter mobil home broke window . Do you have a link to order the material I need for the job ?
Try "Vintage Trailer Supply"
Bob, thanks. great video. can you add the exact materials used? and where you got it.
I will when I get a chance
Rob I have a 1983 shasta 23 ft motorhome and would like to replace the windows or atleast reseal the windows cause the outside seals are shrinking and dry rotted
I have never worked on a motorhome. Sounds like a big job
Hi Rob, where did you get your glass? My 1966 Scotty had the front windowpane shatter and I need to replace it.
I like to use plexiglass from Lowes. Keeps the breaking to a minimum. If you want safety glass, your local glass shop can make it for you.
Where did you get your gaskets and other items. For the repair oh and what sizes are you using. Forni have to do this to all my windows in a 1970 l&m trailer. Also thank so much for this video and all yours there amazing.
I get my gaskets from Vintage trailer supply. The generally have the standard sizes.
@@RobTheRebuilder thank you very much
Morning rob thanks for the detailed video on the windows I joined the facebook Scotty group And I have the 64 Scotty sportsman Hi lander I guess it's a rare 1 from what I understand What is the source of the Scotty gasket number part number I broke 1 of my windows trying to take the regulator slide out with the tiny screws Where do you buy those little nylon pc on the regulator arm Thanks for all the help
Go to "Vintage Trailer Supply" and click on window hardware and you should see everything you need.
Good luck on your build
Got it! How do you change out the screen on it?
Check previous videos. I have one somewhere.
looks Buty-full ;)
Punny
What kind of glass did the manufacturer use for the windows? Is it ordinary window glass or tempered glass or automotive glass?
The ones I have worked on are regular glass. Tempered glass is recommended.
Do you have a brand of butyl tape you recommend or is it all pretty much the same?
I use Dicor. There is a lot of bad butyl tape out there.
@@RobTheRebuilder thanks for the reply! My wife and I inherited a 70s prowler and are looking to get everything cleaned and sealed back up. Your videos have been invaluable 🤘🏻
Think your screw bit is getting worn. I cringe ever time you pull the trigger. Good work keep it up.
You're probably right.
What size screws did you use?
#6 x 3/4"
Why didn’t you put butyl tape on the eyebrows?
I always do!
I just bought a 60a trailer ...one window is totally missing 😢 how can I get a window without spending $600 which is what it costs in Canada. What a rip off....
Sometimes there are some available on FB marketplace but it sounds like its a sellers market there.
Do you use real glass
I did on this application.
