If I recall correctly, back when the Integra was replaced by the RSX, Real Time Racing didn't switch from the Integra to the RSX for the Sportscar Challenge series or whatever it was called. The suspension geometry was that much poorer with the RSX that they chose to continue campaigning the Integra for a season or two, but when the TSX came out they changed to the TSX since it had proper suspension that would work well for the racing series.
@@jomaha9227 umm yes people buy these fast here in pa, it has the best 4 cylinder engine honda has ever built, the k24a2 and has double wishbone suspension. People love these cars.
Was waiting for a TSX review. Here in Europe I have this car, but it's an '06 2.2 I-CTDI diesel. Yes. A Honda diesel. Honda's first ever diesel, in fact (N22A engine code if anyone is interested). Its modfied, so has 212HP and 440Nm of torque. Stock it's at 140HP and like 340Nm And, it's a six-speed manual. It's also a wagon. But, basically looks like this. While 212 and 440 might not sound like a lot, the thing really shifts. And, on our smaller roads, it really does feel like it's moving. In sixth gear on the highway, it really does pull and overtaking is the easiest. With the modifications and all, it puts a lot of surprise into drivers of hot hatches and larger engined cars. The diesel engine really helps because that torque means it really doesn't struggle with the mass, and it's reliable as hell. It has 190k miles and runs like a clock, as mentioned in the video. And I love the fact the interior isn't THAT dated. And as the owner of this TSX mentioned, totally different interior.
Acuras from the 00s are great cars. RSX, TSX, TL (throw in the NSX if you want) all have timeless styling, functional but good-looking cockpits with good driving positions, good shifters, entertaining sounding engines with naturally aspirated response and a progressive power band, and Honda/Acura at their best have great road feel and breathe over the road very well, and these were some of their best cars. A gen 1 TSX with a stick is a great low-key enthusiast buy.
similar circumstances; went from CRX to a red TSX (2004) with optional factory wing and still one of the slickest sticks, truly enjoyed the mixture of comfort, luxury and the manual...quality interior, leather seats and a pleasant stock audio system which was easy to add on to......my two kids were 9 and 11 so it worked well in multiple capacities....
agrippa1234 yup. I wanted a 2009 especially because the audio system sounded good. The deal didnt go through but one day maybe. New cars have just crap audio systems that aren't even called that!!!
Used to be an installer a long time ago so had access to gear at cost plus; left the head unit and added two Alpine amps (one single channel for sub and another four channel), ran a 10 inch JL in the trunk and Focal separates. Our family driver all hidden neatly that I could fire up when my bride was not present...between that and the six speed a fun little Acura to own even with two small kids.....still miss it
agrippa1234 "Our family driver.."?? You mean factory drivers not including the sub? Of course when the audio sounds good, life is good! My friend sells cars and I rode in back of the new VW Arteon. Between the clean and clear sounding audio and the interior lighting, I had a great time. VW is a powerful global company so glad to see that they are equipping cars better in the States. Audio is one good area. I have seen the new Acuras on commercials sporting good audio but they are a bit out of my budget.
I returned my M2 DCT lease recently and instead of starting a new car loan with a Civic Type R, I picked up a 2004 TSX 6MT. Been a long time since my 2010 Civic Si Sedan, but the TSX rekindled my love of driving manuals. A friend who owns an STi drove my TSX and couldn't believe how the stock gearbox feels so good and precise. Can hardly wait for Spring - Ordered new Koni shocks and H&R springs, and getting new rubber for Rays Gramlights I'm buying off a friend. Also sent a spare TSX steering wheel I got from the wreckers over to Royal Steering Wheels in the UK for a repadding and retrim.
Got an accord euro manual here in aus, brilliant car and super reliable. Some handling mods and some slight improvements to the motor and you have a great daily driver that'll never let you down
Appreciate the love for the gen-1 TSX! I always wanted one when they came out and finally got one in 2015 (at 10 years old!). But I really like the car and enjoy it. The interior is fantastic.
Have been driving my 07 for 15 years and it seriously drives as good as when I drove it out of the showroom. Very fun to drive and it’s been incredibly reliable
@Bavex01XPro Insurance Was Like Any Other 4-Door. It's A Sedan So No Extra Charges. I Haven't Had The Car For Long, But My Assumption Is That Repairs Won't Cost Much Unless It's Something Major. Make Sure You Have A Solid Transmission And A/C When Looking On The Market.
I had an 04 TSX 6-speed, I traded it in for an 09 TSX. I still missed the 04 as it drives better. Both cars are super reliable and I have 150k miles on my 09, but the 04 is a true sports sedan.
The gentleman's civic. CHEAP, reliable, 4 door, fuel efficient, manual, loaded and k24. Also I think the front looks great. Clean and crisp. Unbeatable for the money.
One of the last great Honda's. Japanese build, timeless exterior & interior design. Great engine/trans & full IRS FR & rear with hydro assisted steering. I had an EP3 Type-R Civic before my Accord Type-S, I never liked the steering feel coming from an EM1. This is a proper Honda.
Another point about this TSX is that its VTEC comes on really high, near redline, which some people will be disappointed in. But it's quite a bit torquier than an Accord's 4 of the same era. Likewise, the power band is really smooth. You can still rev it out to 7K and it certainly doesn't feel slow.
If your willing to settle for an auto you can get them for under $5000 for a nice one. Will have some miles mileage on these cars shouldn’t shy anyone away. Bought mine with 150,000 miles out the door for $4,995. I know it’s an auto and not as good as the stick (I came from an RXS-S), but for my purposes the auto is fine and you still get all the great qualities of the TSX.
@@seanpittacora9668 1000 more for a manual transmission is worth it if you want to drive it at the track or canyons - tires cost that when said & done. The auto will be fine for daily driving, but it'll put a huge damper on things when you're trying to have fun with it.
Bought an 06 A-Spec 6MT as my first car at 16 for $800 w/ 145k miles. SEARCH PEOPLE, SEARCH!! The car you’ve been looking for could be right around the corner, my neighbor had it sitting in his garage for a few years not being driven in great shape. Albeit I have 3 bent rims that I’ll replace when spring comes but everything else is flawless! Best part of it, not too slow, not too fast, you can floor it and have the time of your life, different world from sports cars where u only get a few seconds then your fun is over, crossing “go to jail” speeds. VTEC just hits different on the K24A2s, especially with a tune.
I had a 08 for several months, great car. Best $3000 that i ever spent. It had high mileage @300000 kms but it was well maintained. I ended up giving the car away to a friend of mine for their kids first car 👍

I loved this video. People really don’t talk about the 1st gen TSX but they should. It’s a great all around car that’s fun to drive, reliable, and also a really good looking and high quality car.
That's because in CT 10 year+ cars are rusted to shit. This is CA (or in the owner's case, he bought in TX) where things don't rust, so it's not as hard to find clean examples.
Surprised no one talking about the lag from 1st-2nd gear full throttle shifts. Only way to bypass it is to powershift or get flash pro and disable 1st gear throttle dampening.
The TSX is very under rated. It's a super fast car if you mod it the right way. Stock by the way. My TSX is so fast.....man. All I did was a few mods, and now it's faster then most turbo cars. I don't have a turbo by the way. Super reliable too.
A TSX should not be compared to a Civic... It is a much more comfortable car to drive. Slow is not a word I would use when describing a TSX. The motor is awesome and super reliable.
@@dartecoates9262 the JDM Euro-R is where it's at. Those are actually pretty fast for an N/A two-liter. You can also build these ones up. There is an Accord like this one in my region with a K24/K20 hybrid, which is about as fast as my car (I'm running a J32A2 with all the bolt ons).

@@shawnsta7779 8th gen civic sedan (same era) curb weight: 2,777-2,844 TSX curb weight: 3,409 to 3,680 So uhhh, yeah, best case it's a weight difference of 565lbs, worst case it's a difference of 900lbs... So yeah, I think him saying 600lbs is a pretty optimistic case for the TSX. Definitely no 350lb difference like you're suggesting, according to the published curb weights, that's not even possible without weight reduction. He's right, 200hp is low in both of them. 250 is a bit more adequate, but it's still not fast. Put those motors in a 5th or 6th gen civic though and they become pretty quick.

Got one of these in Europe. Here it's the Accord Euro, but mines a (behold) 2.2 DIESEL. Honda engine, fantastically reliable, and powerful. Mine's been played with so has 212HP and 440NM of torque, so nothing incredible, but it shifts for a daily.
Almost got one of these but opted for the better looking RSX. The only thing holding it back is the suspension geometry but I've done bushings, coilovers, sway bars, and a strut bar so it moves around corners.
Steering in the tsx is much better though by far. I have a ton of money dumped into my rsx handling but we just got an 08 technology packaged tsx for my lady and it’s an amazing handling vehicle from factory. Better than rsx by far. I can’t stand the bumpsteer in that thing

I have an 08 TSX which I bought in November,2020, had 119k when I bought it, so far hasn’t left me stranded as off May, 2021 and I It’s at 132k so I put 12k miles in only 6 months but had needed maintenance, these cars though motor and transmission can go almost forever with regular maintenance, I haven’t had any major work done but I had to do the VTEC solenoid, alternator, radiator fan, left transmission seal cause the transmission was leaking from the left/driver side seal, a ignition coil, but yeah these were a little pricey but nothing compared to a BMW or an Audi, the most expensive was the driver side transmission seal which was $200 to replace cause of labor, the alternator & VTEC solenoid & ignition coil I replaced at home….. these are good cars but definitely need maintenance and the stuff I done to car is common for these cars, but the maintenance is cheap for a luxury car especially when compared to any European manufacturers, American manufacturers just make literal crap

Zach "yeah steerings good"

It’s good but not great
been driving an 04 tsx six speed for about a year now. Its awesome. Luxury, practical, and sport and fun.
Same with Spoon Sports. They dropped their DC5-R for the TSX because double wishbone suspension.
Ahem, shut about this car, I'm looking to buy one and don't need a youtube price premium. :D
No one is going to be rushing out to buy these lol, even if they talk about them their desirability isn't going to skyrocket ...
@@jomaha9227 I jest, I don't even live on that side of the pond.
@@jomaha9227 umm yes people buy these fast here in pa, it has the best 4 cylinder engine honda has ever built, the k24a2 and has double wishbone suspension. People love these cars.
Way too late... as in several years too late
TSX actually holds its value really well
Was waiting for a TSX review.
A gen 1 TSX with a stick is a great low-key enthusiast buy.
rsx is disgusting
@@ys0456that’s definitely subjective
similar circumstances; went from CRX to a red TSX (2004) with optional factory wing and still one of the slickest sticks, truly enjoyed the mixture of comfort, luxury and the manual...quality interior, leather seats and a pleasant stock audio system which was easy to add on to......my two kids were 9 and 11 so it worked well in multiple capacities....
agrippa1234 yup.
I got an 07 TSX, clean title, with 167k miles for $3250! Interally and externally beautiful! For my first car, I could not be happier!
@Bavex01XPro Insurance Was Like Any Other 4-Door. It's A Sedan So No Extra Charges. I Haven't Had The Car For Long, But My Assumption Is That Repairs Won't Cost Much Unless It's Something Major. Make Sure You Have A Solid Transmission And A/C When Looking On The Market.
i was shocked how well the TSX drove as compared to the same year Accord
I've got a accord euro r here in NZ, really nice chassis, K20 6speed lsd, it's surprisingly quick for a big car
I miss my 2005 TSX though granted it was auto still fun af to drive daily.
I had an 04 TSX 6-speed, I traded it in for an 09 TSX.
I still missed the 04 as it drives better. Both cars are super reliable and I have 150k miles on my 09, but the 04 is a true sports sedan.
Pretty sure the IS250 came in manual mate...
not in the states
@@FatSacks yes it did? My buddy has one in stick
Must be super rare then. I haven’t seen one in person in the states.
They come in stick. I test drove one and then ended up buying a 08 tl type s in 6 speed. Way better car
IS250 came in stick, pretty rare. IS350 didn't.
The gentleman's civic. CHEAP, reliable, 4 door, fuel efficient, manual, loaded and k24. Also I think the front looks great. Clean and crisp. Unbeatable for the money.
Finally! TSX are great cars for the money now. Didn’t ask about mods?
Acuras' are expensive to maintain
@@mindhunter8772 they are not.

They’re not expensive to maintain lol. I own a 09 TSX
they are not expensive to maintain at all. it basically is just a Honda with more upscale interior/exterior. it it just as reliable as a Honda civic
Would be more accurate to say sold elsewhere as the Accord Type S, which was the identical trim with the same motor.
Indeed
These were such good cars and they have aged incredibly well!
07 Accord Sedan V6 6 speed owner here, Honda all day ;)

One of the last great Honda's. Japanese build, timeless exterior & interior design. Great engine/trans & full IRS FR & rear with hydro assisted steering. I had an EP3 Type-R Civic before my Accord Type-S, I never liked the steering feel coming from an EM1. This is a proper Honda.
Love my 07 TL Type-S
Evan Pilkington i have a base tl. I love the car, just need some coil over to handle better
Also have an '07 tl type s :)

So far loving my 04 TSX. Found a stick shift one for $6k 100k miles. Interior is great besides no aux cord. Planning to keep it stock for a long time
Another point about this TSX is that its VTEC comes on really high, near redline, which some people will be disappointed in. But it's quite a bit torquier than an Accord's 4 of the same era. Likewise, the power band is really smooth. You can still rev it out to 7K and it certainly doesn't feel slow.
Most reliable car I’ve ever had went 270,000 miles could have gone more miss that car so much… rip. Thinking about getting another one
Brother has an 04 and I loved it so much that I bought one! Great cars!
The problem is that the one for 4k with a manual trans has been riced tf out. It's still 6-8k for a nice one.
Finally showing some love to the tsx
800$ wtf!
I had a 08 for several months, great car. Best $3000 that i ever spent. It had high mileage @300000 kms but it was well maintained. I ended up giving the car away to a friend of mine for their kids first car 👍

I’ve been looking for one of these with a manual for a while, plus a friend has one. Rad car. Also the OEM 17” 9 spoke wheels kinda resemble 996 GT3 wheels in my opinion. Would love to get one... sweet sweet car.
I got an 08 tsx tech pack. From 0 km to 268000 currently. All I've don't to it in that time, is obviously oil changes, and brakes, and a clutch. Best car I've ever owned. I love it
IS250 did come as a manual or automatic. The IS350 was a 6 speed automatic only.
I loved this video. People really don’t talk about the 1st gen TSX but they should. It’s a great all around car that’s fun to drive, reliable, and also a really good looking and high quality car.
I paid $2500 for my 2004 6 speed Tsx lol. Love it i just gotta get the clear coat on the hood and roof repaired.
$4000?? I live in CT those cost around $8000 here and there's 4 on the street I live on, one is mine
About $4-6k in AZ. Picking one up next year.
That's because in CT 10 year+ cars are rusted to shit. This is CA (or in the owner's case, he bought in TX) where things don't rust, so it's not as hard to find clean examples.
Damn I’m in New Haven and half the Acura owners around here are old 😂. I’ll go to wave at another 3G TL owner and it’s some old dude lol
Im in NY and all the manual TLs and TSXs are either clapped or super expensive
bought one in NY last year for about 8k with 70k miles
Surprised no one talking about the lag from 1st-2nd gear full throttle shifts. Only way to bypass it is to powershift or get flash pro and disable 1st gear throttle dampening.

I had a 2004 Acura TSX 5AT as my second car after my first car (2003 Honda Civic DX) got totaled from getting rear-ended. I sold it after awhile because I got tired of it (I attribute that to the fact it was 5AT 99%). I suddenly have this itch to probably get another one but it would have to be a 6MT 06-08 because I feel the 5AT does not do the K24A2 any justice.
So the K24A2 is the exact 2.4L version of the RSX because they only K series motors i hear about with drag racing is either the K20A2 or the K24A2 because the blocks can hold a lot of horsepower
