  • A walk-through of 10050 Cielo Drive, recorded sometime in December, 1993. It was still being used as Le Pig Studios by this point. The residence became famous after the brutal murders of Sharon Tate (who was eight and a half months pregnant), and four others at the hands of the Manson Family on August 9, 1969.

It is a shame they are tearing these canyon homes down that we’re built to fit into the landscape nicely and replacing them with gaudy over built McMansions that ruin the aesthetic of the canyons. R.I.P. Sharon & son, Steve, Abigail, Jay and Voytek 🙏

It’s like OJ’s house in Brentwood. Some wealthy guy bought it and tore it down and built a new one because of the horrible memories of OJ’s abuse to Nicole took place there. Cielo dr is a place where horrific and brutal murders took place. I’m glad it was torn down.

Such a pretty and humble house. It has a cottage like quality. It fit in so well with its surroundings, almost like it grew there along with the trees and foliage. You’d never guess the horrors.

That _would_ be great, but I don’t know if there’s any digital magic that can repair the damage/distortion that has accrued to this video via successive generations of copies (tapes) being made, with each copy being a lower video quality than the previous one! It truly is such an incredibly frustrating, vexing situation! Such valuable historical footage, but absolutely HORRENDOUS video quality!!! And actually, THIS version of the footage looks better than most-including the one I got on a DVD sold by John Aes-Nihl! The stabilization software did a great job of countering the shakiness caused by the unsteady videographer who shot it. What would be _wonderful_ is if someone could get a hold of the *original videotape!* This version-as well as all of the others I’ve seen-is a dupe of a dupe of a dupe of a dupe of a…well, let’s just say it’s many, many generations down the line!

Its such a shame they tore this lovely house down. Im sure someone would have looked beyond its past and loved it. Bad things happen everywhere all the time, we just dont hear about it. This house was a magnet for talent. Terry Melcher and Candace Bergen lived here, Paul Revere and the Raiders spent time here, and in the 1940s actress Michele Morgan lived here . Theres also a rumor Henry Fonda once lived here too. Thanks for posting this video as it will help us remember it : )

      Cave Man
Exactly they shouldve kept this house instead of tearing it down and building a new house over it.
The old house blends well with all that landscape not like the new one that replaced it, the new one just doesnt have the character that this one had.
I mean the Le bianca house is still standing and in fact it sold again last year, so with that being said i feel like they shouldve kept the original house instead of the new oversized one that now stands with not even half the character.

What I like about this video, and I find it extremely interesting, is we are shown the guest house, along with the main residence. This is only the second video that I have run across, that shows the guest house. William Garretson, was occupying that guest house, and was originally believed to be the killer, but as the evidence started to accumulate, it was shown that he was not involved in the murders. Most of the attention is focused on the main residence, and the murders that occurred there, but just as important, to the investigation, was Garretson's relationship to the Polanski's, and Rudi Altobelli. What I find hard to accept, was Garretson's claim that he heard absolutely nothing that night, even though at least six shots were fired from a pistol, in close proximity to where he was at, and the screams from Abigail Folger, and Voytec Frykowski, as they were being stabbed, and bludgeoned to death, on the front lawn. But Garretson's story was widely accepted, so who am I to cast any other speculations, as to what he heard, and what he didn't hear, during those early morning hours of Saturday, August 9th, 1969. So once again thank you so very much for including footage of the guest house.

I don't know... For some reason, I've developed a relatively small appreciation -- for the INTERIOR of the Mediterranean-style Villa -- which now resides at 10066 Cielo Drive.
Sure, the EXTERIOR of the property has since become synonymous-- with having turned a lot of people off -- in regards to the way it looks. But the recent batch of Zillow-based photos -- which have been circulating online -- have since given me a moderately different opinion, and outlook on the property itself.
But even still... I can honestly say, that the original French Country-style Main and Guest houses (at the former 10050 Cielo Drive residence) will forever and always be the respective King and Queen of the Canyon, in regards to their timeless beauty and elegance!

A bunch of the stone fireplace was saved as well. You can own a piece of it courtesy of Dearly Departed Tours. You could go on their "Helter Skelter Tour", and get a piece of it in a little bag. They're harder to come by now, so they started selling a few of the remaining pieces for $50 a piece. Nothing Studios was founded in 1992, and was discontinued in 2004. It's used primarily as an office building now, and the door is still there.

Rhonda 63 That's true, but back in 1969, people living in high-end areas of LA didn't really have to worry about crime very much - if at all. The Manson family changed that sense of security for sure. Rudy Altobelli had purchased the home in 1963 and rented out the main house while living in the guest house. After the murders, he moved into the main house and begin renting out the guest house. He lived there for 20 years, until 1989, then sold the home to investors who decided to demolish the home and replace it with the hideous monstrosity that sits there today. There is little doubt in my mind that the house remained mostly untouched by Altobelli. He was notorious for being cheap and greedy.

So did Krenwinkle, chasing Abigail to the front yard where Abigail was stabbed repeatedly on the ground. Abigail begged Krenwinkle to stop stabbing her, she said something like, I am already dead.

Yes, Abigail Folger ran out the door to the pool area. She was pursued and stabbed by Patricia Krenwinkel, who tackled her on the front lawn. Folger told Krenwinkel to stop stabbing her, before finally exclaiming "I give up. I'm already dead." At some point, Krenwinkel dispatched Tex Watson who helped in delivering the final blows, that ultimately claimed the life of Abigail Folger. Her white nightgown turned almost completely red in the aftermath. Her body was discovered not far from where her lover, Voyteck Frykowski lay beaten and bloody on the same stretch of lawn. Folger received almost 30 stab wounds and Frykowski received just over 50. He was also shot twice and pistol whipped with the same gun, which had earlier been used to kill Steven Parent in his Rambler and critically injured Jay Sebring as he fruitlessly attempted to reason with the killers, concerning Sharon Tate's condition.

Garrettson was reportedly listening to music through a headset at the time and couldn't have heard much, if anything through them. The only dog that I'm aware of was Sharon's Yorkie, which was in the guest house with Garrettson at the time. Even if the dog heard anything and started barking, Garrettson must've clearly ignored it and could've even called out to the dog to quiet down. He probably just continued listening to music and smoking cigarettes, making the best of his free time. And I believe he even sat down and wrote a few letters at one point during the night. All of this until he finally got tired enough to go to bed. If Garrettson heard or saw anything, then it shouldn't have come as a surprise to him, that the police would be showing up the following morning to investigate. Garrettson's story has changed numerous times, so it's very difficult to take the man at his word.

@@shellytrent1319 of course nowadays his rent would be like $22,000 a month! I heard the owner even made Sharon Tate's father clean up her blood himself how disgusting!! it's all in her nieces book that was published about 5 years ago and the father actually solved the case when he followed the bikers back to spawn Ranch & told about the Manson family living there but the police dropped the ball Susan Atkins opened her big trap when she was in jail and confessed to the whole thing she said she held Sharon Tate down and they thought about cutting the baby out of her after they murdered her so viciously. exactly why when Susan Atkins got brain cancer they showed her no mercy also!! she died like the dog she was in prison.

Trent Reznor proved to be the last official resident of the house at 10050 Cielo Drive, prior to its demolition. He took the front door with him when he left, and later installed it at his Nothing Studios location in New Orleans, Louisiana. The door has since been removed, and is now in the possession of a local New Orleans area artist, for the sake of its own preservation. A Mediterranean-style villa now occupies the site of the former residence, with the address being changed to 10066 Cielo Drive.

janette butler yes-the owner of the home during the time of the murders lived there afterwards for about 20+ years. He found it difficult to rent it out again after the murders.
