That giant box that the furniture came in made me SUPER nostalgic. Don't know if you've already broken it down but when I was a kid my dad had a pick up truck and used to bring us home huge boxes from big fridges or freezers that had been thrown out behind the big stores near us. We would spend HOURS making them into forts and houses to play in and I would decorate with my crayons, drawing on curtains and paintings and sometimes my own wallpaper designs. Then we'd bring in blankets and pillows and books and toys and hang out in there for hours and hours content as could be.
we would do this as well. nothing made us happier than getting to play in an empty box - and making forts or playhouses in them. turn a big one upside down so it has a ceiling, cut a Luce sized door and a window into it. You can even decorate the outside by drawing flowers, etc. She'll love it! 🏠

Agree, was my first thought. Heavy guy lines on each corner, maybe remove the canopy and screen fabric, plus furniture if there is any wind forecast…..it all could easily be destroyed or blown away with a storm. Best regards

There's quick-install decking that might be more affordable and practical. It snaps together. Kind of like Legos. I think some are made from recycled materials which gives it a more Earth friendly quality. The big rock (that isn't part of a Greek village, lol) might be an issue, but maybe just keep working around it! What a great project for you -- a lot of work but still a bit easier, one you can do together, and a contribution to your well-being for sure. What a view on your precious property with your darling little daughter and Mom!
Those interlocking panels you mentioned would be great. Or pavers, or maybe terra cotta tiles, I'd say something like that setting on the surface would be easiest and less maintenance and long lasting -- which ever is less expensive.. Leave the rock exposed and just incorporate it or build a table or bench over it.

While the old one is hidden and protected, its ancient relatives are available for hugs.
Happy to see Sara’s mama with her family. I live in Anchorage Alaska, I am a 83 year old gramma, Abulita, and Oma to my grandchildren who live in Mexico, Europe, and Southern states. I never get to be with them in person, but each one is a gem. After all the years I lived I can tell you, family is everything. The gazebo is beautiful guys! I will join you in the club for assembling things wrong the first time and then redoing the whole thing. Yes, more than once! What a gorgeous view from the gazebo and beautiful comfy furniture. You can enjoy breakfast or any meal there. I have a butane camping stove that is small and portable. That would be perfect for cooking in the gazebo or outside. I didn't' know about making tea from the fig leaves. It sounds so good and healthy too. Luce was a good helper with the gazebo furniture. Good afternoon "Beautiful Family" from America. We inherited a 45 acre parcel overlooking the Pacific Ocean north of San Francisco. We have olive and fig trees on our property and hug our olive trees every night before the sunset, I built a 24ft x 24ft Gazebo on top of a Redwood cedar deck and love to relax with our family on vacation. Fig tea is served every day at 4PM where our grandparents and parents enjoy the view with us. We are very concerned over Luca working to hard building your Amazon special. Please take care Sarah and we are praying for your HEALTH and happiness with this pregnancy. So nice to see your Mother helping with your tremendous workload.

A few years ago I found a recipe for fig tree leaf syrup. While making the simple syrup, you dry the fig leaves in your oven. The scent is unusual and heavenly! And if you ever wondered how the popular fig scented candle makers came up with the scent...dry the leaves in your oven and you'll find out (and of course they smell much better than candles)! As for the syrup, just add the oven-dried leaves to the simple syrup in a jar and allow it to soak in the fridge overnight. You can use it as an ice cream topping or other desserts, or as a tea sweetener! Lasts about 2 weeks refrigerated.
Fantastico! Definitely a million euro view!! Job well done! I remember building my first gazebo (like yours). My husband and his friend tried, and failed (miserably) so I decided to take a go at it. There are several photos of me putting it together (they watched and took pictures, LOL). I should have been an engineer! So satisfying and we had many great meals in it and I would spend a lot of time working or reading out there too. Summers are extremely hot in Ottawa and we do have a lot of mosquitos who always come out at dusk, so this meant we could have dinner out on the patio and not get eaten ourselves. Your ancient tree is not just beautiful, it is stunning! I love that you found the face and you that she is watching over you.

Hello. Make weights from rocks and /or sand. I make weights made of dry beans or rice. They keep the drafts out as well. I use the weights for camping holding down the tents when it is windy. 😊
That was my thought too. I don’t know how strong winds get in Sicily, but here in Oregon things go flying. Especially with the roof that acts like an umbrella and the structure can be picked up by the wind.

The gazebo looks great! You could put a tarp down as a temporary floor, even an outdoor type carpet. Better to have the furniture on something rather than the dirt. I’m 68 yo, and a month ago put up a pergola by myself. I took my time over a week and got it done. The sea view is beautiful 🌟♥️ Luce is adorable. It’s music to one’s ears to hear her little voice and words in Italian and English, and her expressions are showing she can have a cheeky personality. So cute.
What a beautiful location and amazing views. I would do a wood deck as a gazebo floor..you can always remove it and use it somewhere else if you choose.. it will be cool, clean and easy to rinse off. BTW your daughter is a ray of sunshine in every video.

One of these got taken out recently in my area with the weakest of tornadoes. It doesn't take much to knock these down.

The gazebo is beautiful guys! I will join you in the club for assembling things wrong the first time and then redoing the whole thing. Yes, more than once! What a gorgeous view from the gazebo and beautiful comfy furniture. You can enjoy breakfast or any meal there. I have a butane camping stove that is small and portable. That would be perfect for cooking in the gazebo or outside. I didn't' know about making tea from the fig leaves. It sounds so good and healthy too. Luce was a good helper with the gazebo furniture. Good afternoon "Beautiful Family" from America. We inherited a 45 acre parcel overlooking the Pacific Ocean north of San Francisco. We have olive and fig trees on our property and hug our olive trees every night before the sunset, I built a 24ft x 24ft Gazebo on top of a Redwood cedar deck and love to relax with our family on vacation. Fig tea is served every day at 4PM where our grandparents and parents enjoy the view with us. We are very concerned over Luca working to hard building your Amazon special. Please take care Sarah and we are praying for your HEALTH and happiness with this pregnancy. So nice to see your Mother helping with your tremendous workload.

A few years ago I found a recipe for fig tree leaf syrup.
While making the simple syrup, you dry the fig leaves in your oven. The scent is unusual and heavenly!
And if you ever wondered how the popular fig scented candle makers came up with the scent...dry the leaves in your oven and you'll find out (and of course they smell much better than candles)!
As for the syrup, just add the oven-dried leaves to the simple syrup in a jar and allow it to soak in the fridge overnight.
You can use it as an ice cream topping or other desserts, or as a tea sweetener! Lasts about 2 weeks refrigerated.

I remember building my first gazebo (like yours). My husband and his friend tried, and failed (miserably) so I decided to take a go at it. There are several photos of me putting it together (they watched and took pictures, LOL). I should have been an engineer! So satisfying and we had many great meals in it and I would spend a lot of time working or reading out there too. Summers are extremely hot in Ottawa and we do have a lot of mosquitos who always come out at dusk, so this meant we could have dinner out on the patio and not get eaten ourselves.

Hello. Make weights from rocks and /or sand. I make weights made of dry beans or rice. They keep the drafts out as well. I use the weights for camping holding down the tents when it is windy. 😊

That was my thought too. I don’t know how strong winds get in Sicily, but here in Oregon things go flying. Especially with the roof that acts like an umbrella and the structure can be picked up by the wind.

The gazebo looks great! You could put a tarp down as a temporary floor, even an outdoor type carpet. Better to have the furniture on something rather than the dirt. I’m 68 yo, and a month ago put up a pergola by myself. I took my time over a week and got it done. The sea view is beautiful 🌟♥️ Luce is adorable. It’s music to one’s ears to hear her little voice and words in Italian and English, and her expressions are showing she can have a cheeky personality. So cute.
What a beautiful location and amazing views. I would do a wood deck as a gazebo floor..you can always remove it and use it somewhere else if you choose.. it will be cool, clean and easy to rinse off. BTW your daughter is a ray of sunshine in every video.

Guys make sure you put guy wires on all 4 supports like you would a tent!
Yes - until you can really secure the gazebo legs, guy ropes will keep it from taking off with the first storm.
I thought the same. Those little 10 pegs he put in at the corners are not gonna hold up in a heavy wind.

yes, a necessity for a windy coastline. rope is a waste of money because the wet air and sun rot the fibers quickly.

each pole needs a strong gage wire whose long anchor is spiked into gravel soil as is done for a circus tent.
The view from the Gazebo is out of this world. That and the olive trees and figs.............oh my what a terrific way to relax and be proud of all your hard work and your goodness of finding this land. So happy for you and I can see how you fell in love with that area. I have seen the face in the trunk of the tree prior. I wondered if others have? It's amazing. I love also to look at the clouds and see figures or faces or objects. We have a large tree on our property! It has the image of two owls looking around the property. It is a hoot to say the least and rather giggly to view it and enjoy it. Love your video as always and so happy you have the gazebo up for relaxation and comfort after a hard day in the heat and working..........just beautiful!!
