you should take the clovis hitch and attach it to the BOTTOM of the anchor not the top..... then take your chain... run it to the top of the anchor.. use a SMALL thin zip tie with low to medium break point.... that way when you become hooked, you give a sharp tug, it breaks the zip tie and allows you to pull the anchor up backwards... making it easy to get out of the snag. HINT: always keep a couple of extra zip ties with you. Try this I think you will like it. Happy fishing!!! Be safe and Praise GOD.
Glad i came across this video. Thank you, brother, for starting with that simple but meaningful prayer we need more of that in this hour. Definitely going to use this anchor set up thank you for sharing.
Thanks for the great video. I just started out on a kayak and I’m learning as much as I can. I love this idea of the retractable anchor line. This was super helpful. Glad to see someone not just talking fishing, but fishing for men. Keep it up brother!!!
Just found your channel! Thanks for the video, ive been looking for a clutter free way to store and use my anchor. Thank you so much for sharing your faith and using this channel as an opportunity to share God’s word. God bless you brother!
Kenny Marshall thank you for the encouraging comments. Together we are the Body of Christ and together we can continue to move the gospel forward. To God be the glory. Blessings
Alright thanks friend I needed that . Water is still pretty cold up here low 50 ,s boat is running great , although I need a little adjustment on the rudder.
The line is not useless that nylon line is super strong plus it Doesn't absorb water and I can pull my 180 lb friend with it. ..... I being using it on my 12 native Titan for 2 years no problems.
Nice quick release of just throwing the whole crate over-board too!? If you’d rock rig your anchor you’d buy a lot less as well; keep the faith bro (you’ll need it!!)
Just like the one gentleman said hook up you chain on top of where your grapples on and zip tie where you had originally chained on that way the anchor pulls straight out if you get snagged. Great video God Bless!!!
Use lite zip ties you can break easy , this part of CA the water is low now and an anchor on a stump in wind and rollers can pull even a pa over!. I had a snagged dropshot rig spin me around in mine, it can in an instant!
So just a word of advise while you are doing this, definitely listen when he says let it spool back in slow. My line slipped before I was done tying and the force of the spring after I cut the pre spooled line broke itself and now it won’t wind back up. The spring is shot. Luckily I have an old retractable dog leash to use in the time until I get a new one
Adam Webb thanks for the comment. Great question. I use an anchor trolly. I drop the anchor and already attached to the line is a locking clip. The line is locked off at the clip and then attached to the trolly. In addition, I have a small tie off button on my H-rail that serves as a backup but not necessary.
Snagging is imminent but the crate is secured to the Kayak. Moreover, the anchor line is attached to the anchor trolly. I have a quick disconnect in the event something unexpected happens. Blessings
This looks like a good / cheaper alternative to the (low profile) "Anchor Wizard" (~$100). The AnchorWizard does have the benefit (depending on perspective, I guess?) of having a hand crank - meaning you dont have to pull the line up manually to have it feed into the clothesline reel. That clothesline reel doesn't look like it has much "pull power", so you'd need to hand-over-hand it up each time (and also cleat it off). With the AnchorWizard you can just use one hand to crank everything back up - and it has a ~$25 add-on "anchor chute" option that auto-stows your anchor up & out of the water. So, ~$125 total including the line and mounting hardware. (Anchor not included). Also works great for drag-chain anchoring for rivers...
Hey brother, great video. America is in big mess right now on so many fronts. Putting our faith and trust in the Lord is how we can walk thru the difficult valleys our country is experiencing at this time. Question: on the retractable clothes line system, has anybody tried this in saltwater? God Bless. Mahalo!
Sixto C Armendariz thank you for your encouraging words. Good question! I have never tried it in salt water. I’m sure it would function the same but I cannot speak to the internals of the device. I wouldn’t know if the hardware is corrosion resistant. If you try it, let me know how it works out. Blessings.
Do you run that anchor through a trolley system? Also, enjoy the page and if you ever up near the San Antonio area, maybe we can hit something up here. Take care..
Eh brother if you will stop rigging your anchers backwards you will stop losing them I won't go into it because I see others already have the only reason I am saying anything is an anchor on a small boat done wrong is extremely dangerous.
It strikes me as frustration that your old system had to be cut off with the loss of the anchor, rode, line and chain. I'm sure it was not what you had planned. Still, it seems prudent to look at others who have created systems that with a simple pull of the line would let your anchoring system off with a float so you could recover your investment. Or perhaps that idea expressed in comments about attaching the chain to two points on the anchor. But, It is not what you say that pricks at my heart though. It is what you have not said! You say faith in God is the answer, but I say to you by the rightly divided and studied true word of God (2 Tim 2:15) that many will cry out Lord Lord on that day of judgement Mat 7:22. There are many "good news" from God, or "gospels" in the bible. If you do not have the correct gospel given to us through Paul to build our faith on, it will be far worse than the day you needed to cut that old anchor away. You say that you bring your problems to God and he helps you. But with the correct gospel Jesus has conquered (past tense)all the problems at the cross and we are instructed to live as though we are dead already as he has died for us. Phi 4:13. You can believe that there is a triune God which is correct, but that belief will not save you on the day of judgement. You can do all kinds of works, tell people about the Lord, pray for other folks, give all your money and walk a fine line in the abolished law but you will lose. Rom 4:5. The only actual way, assuming that you have studied and have come to the conclusion that Jesus the Christ is none other than God himself, is to put your faith in his death, burial and resurrection for salvation. Study 1 Cor 15, 1-4. I feel that you are sincere in your zeal for God. So please understand that I am not coming towards you in the spirit of condensation. Yet your words at the end of your video do not explain salvation and could be construed as misleading. Those words very well can lead one to follow "another Jesus" 2 Cor.11:4 because they do not proclaim the true Jesus. James 2:19 says even the devils believe and tremble. We know where they are going. But a good study will conclude that just belief in God or even the trinity will not save us as it is not the gospel revealed for us today. That particular gospel was administered to Paul and in many of his writings he declares that he is the apostle to the Gentiles today. That includes all alive today. If you wish further clarification or if you want to show me different, please contact me so we can discuss the rightly divided word for us today. Then someday, you won't need to lose a very much more expensive anchoring system. In the body, Timothy

Thank you for your suggestion. I have since done that. Great idea! Blessings
This is the money advice!
I was about to make the same suggested. That "weakest link" setup with the cable tie save our acnhor when it got stuck yesterday fishing off the boat.
I need more explanation on this, I'm a newbie
Came here at the 10:30 mark to make the same comment. ;-)

Great job bro. God bless you.

Thanks for the comment. I actually set mine up with that technique now. Haven’t had the chance to try it out but I like it. Blessings.

Agree 100%. The way you show in the video is why you lost an anchor. Very good video by the way :) :) :)
Would you mind showing us in a quick video thank you 🫲🏻
Please explain how you made the hinge
Love your speech

Daniel Newman wow that’s tough. Thanks for sharing. 👍🏼
Think I would just pony up for a Anchor Wizard
How do you quick disconnect from this in an emergency?
It takes a bit more time but it's not hard to replace the whole line. I have done it twice.
So when you hook up with a nice Fish have you ever got the fish tangled up in the anchor line or what is your solution for this ?
Actually, it has happened to me a couple of times. Fortunately I haven't lost any.
What do you think the lb's of pressure does the spring produce when it is retrieving the line. God Bless And Stay Safe.
Wow, that’s a good question. One I have know idea the answer to. But I can say it’s just enough if not a little under powered. Blessings
Wow, great question. One I have no idea how to answer. But it’s just enough if not a little under powered. Blessings.
Thank you brother in Christ.
How long would it last with salt water?
How do you secure your crate to your yak so that it can hold the force of the anchor pull? Or do you use a cleat on the side of your yak?
Adam Webb thanks for the comment. Great question. I use an anchor trolly. I drop the anchor and already attached to the line is a locking clip. The line is locked off at the clip and then attached to the trolly. In addition, I have a small tie off button on my H-rail that serves as a backup but not necessary.
How do you keep a snag or just the anchor pulling your crate out?
Snagging is imminent but the crate is secured to the Kayak. Moreover, the anchor line is attached to the anchor trolly. I have a quick disconnect in the event something unexpected happens. Blessings
God Bless you kind sir 🙏
Thank you! And blessings to you as well.
God bless you brother
And blessings to you brother.
5/16” chain?
You could just tie an anchor hitch, it’s a lot quicker. Pretty simple knot too. Wrap some electrical tape around the tag and main line.
Amen brother !!!

Can’t you just open in and replace the whole line instead of cutting and tying ?
You putt the chain on the wrong end of the anchor you need it to be able to brake away from the eye and pull the end of the anchor
Thanks for the advice. Blessings
Seek ye first the kingdom of God, pray about everything you do brother.
