you are putting a lot of faith in the cord reel being strong enough or not just plain braking. I would make a loop off the end of the anchor line and let it hang out and fasten the carabiner to it. But I really like the idea.
*Well JC... The boy in us no matter how old we get... loves a new toy and especially the ones that make our other toys way more fun* Thanx for sharing ..gw
This is exactly what I have been looking for as a no drill anchor trolley for my sportsman 120. Do not want to put any holes in this thing and you had the answer. Just ordered my cleat. Thanks man!
good set up JC, I use two anchor trolley's on my kayak(one on each side) I found this allows me to position myself properly regardless of current,Great video, thanks for sharing...
This is what I've been looking for! I can't drill holes on my inflatable kayak. It also doesn't have much in terms of fixed points since the tubing isnt meant to be stretched or have high tension. Luckily, the splash guards on the bow and stern have rope that I can connect this system to! I don't have an ideal inflatable kayak for fishing, but trying to make it work. I'm certain this is the answer. Thanks JC!
Thanks for sharing JC! I have an inflatable fishing kayak (Aquaglide Blackfoot Angler 130), so the "no hole option" is a must ;-). The idea of a rope tied to the stern and going to a cleat near the seat is great, thanks.
It is a short i sound, nota long i. But this is great. I have been trying to figure our what to do without an anchor trolly. Though I dint really like throwing in the whole spool of anchor line.
Gosh that is some complicated anchor rigging. If I were leaving my anchor for an emergency, specifically a boat bearing down, no way would I want 10 feet of rope streaming. GREAT videos!
That’s a good point. Maybe add another cleat or carabiner clip close behind you. That way you can retrieve with the other side of the quick release rope and you won’t have to use your rod.
I like the set up, but I also like my anchor trolley so that I am not always facing the same way with the current. I guess I would just thread the rope through the trolley and cleat it off.
You are in three fathoms of water you need to peel off 12 fathoms of rope In less the tide demands more. I could continue explaining your follies However I see you have the means to study up on it yourself and I could write a book before I finished explaining. What you did do right for the most part is that you set up your anchor so that it will not be garbage on the bottom it will be retrievable and it will work as an anchor in whatever structure or bottom you throw it down on top of but I am wondering why you are not using a Clevis because if you leave that anchor for A long soak I do believe that cloth will rot allowing you to retrieve your chain and your rope and requiring a diver so that you do not waste a perfectly good anchor personally I use a bronze Clevis and stainless steel chain.
JC my brother from another mother. I had an anchor for over 15 years and to get rid of her was a lot harder than tossing it over board, or was it ??? That one took half my stuff.
Do u think a 10 lb weight would work for you instead of an anchor? I really wanna avoid getting an anchor stuck and would rather use a weight if it would hold me the same way. I fish similar conditions as you.
Thanks for commenting. I chose this method because no holes where needed to be put in the kayak. Also, this system is cheaper than setting things up on the trolley. With the type of fishing I do I can't think of any situation I'd be in where the anchor would need to be attached other than the back of the kayak. Also, thinking ahead for resale value, the next guy who might be interested in purchasing the kayak might not like the positioning of the anchor trolley. Thanks for watching.
@@mikepound9808 So true, unless he or she were left handed because I'm right, ha ha...If you own several kayaks this system can be used on all of them, one for all!
Hey Jc, where did you keep this on the kayak? In the back ?? Did you ever have issues with this system? I really wanted to see how that bungy was connected to the buoy... was it already attached? Thanks jc. Hope all is well. You ever hear anything about the 106?
Time marked video for you: ua-cam.com/video/sDZYB_lPTH8/v-deo.html The bungee was just tied to the hooks on the bungee. No issues with this anchoring system. It just takes some practice. No good news on the 106 Sportsman Powered By Minn Kota. Thanks for watching.
When anchored, when the tide is moving toward the bridge then the kayak should be anchored from behind so the bait drifts under the bridge. There are some situations where a fisherman might desire to be anchored in the front, but with this method the angler always has to take into consideration how to position the kayak to fish the spot anchored from the back.
Key west kayak fishing!!! He is insane I love his videos I’m glad you mentioned him.
I set this up on my kayak here in Ohio; for my lakes and small rivers, thanks to you JC...you are the best brother....stay safe! ✌️ Peace
I have the same kayak and I appreciate that your method doesn't require drilling any new holes. well done

just watched this even tho i dont have a kayak

I love this idea. I intend to make use of this when I eventually get an Old Town Sportsman.

Great video explaining how you are set up. Thx
Great idea and setup

Thanks for the ideas JC! I have the same anchor, I’m going to make the adjustment to add the chain and zip ties.
You have solved my problem. Except I'll use a smaller buoy. Thank you JC!!! I have a 5 lb anchor
Hey I like the no holes method man don't really want none in my 120 pdl have to snag that idea
well done sir

Heck yea that's awesome
My friend uses this set up works good for him. Say the word carabiner with an emphasis on the bin syllable, but pronounce it like bean.
Thanks! laughter-daughter (dafter?) ha ha...

Moo moo outdoors has a very similar anchor system. He uses a clam cleat for a quick disconnect
Right on! I saw his video a while ago when he published it. I love his channel.
No hole anchor trolley thanks
I love this Nice Video

Cool ideas, thanks! What's the anchor weight in your system?
I don't recall. I have the Anker and storage so I can't look at it right now.
What size buoy?.....also what weight anchor would be good?
That is my question as well
How heavy is the anchor please?

I don't know, wouldn't it be a lot easier to use an anchor trolley?

@@RadReelingFishing Some valid points JC, but I'd think for a re-sale, an installed anchor trolley would be a plus.

Just a question. Why would you anchor at the rear

How ar you keeping the ends of the bungee cord together (the metal ends)?
The are just tied onto the rope tightly. Thanks for watching!
How many pounds is the anchor?
What size anchor are you using ?
what is the backround noise?
Cars crossing the bridge.
I’m not understanding the bungee.
RobRebholz the bungee is to absorb waves and boat wake so that your kayak has some “shock absorbing” in rougher water. Works really well.
