  • The Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) will soon deploy new Maritime Security Unmanned Surface Vessels to complement manned ships in patrolling and securing Singapore’s waters.
    =====================
    Accoding to Singapore MINDEF, the new USV was developed in close partnership with the Defence Science & Technology Agency (DSTA) and DSO National Laboratories. According to Jane's the platforms are produced by Taiwan’s Lung Teh Shipbuilding while Singapore’s ST Engineering acts as systems integrator and prime contractor. This was the case for the previous type of USV used by the RSN, primarily for mine counter measure missions: The Venus 16.
    The MARSEC USVs will complete their sea trials later this year and once commissioned, they will add another layer of surveillance and operational response to Singapore's maritime borders.

    This is one of the reasons why manned small patrol crafts (~15m to ~17m long) is still a good investment as they can be used as ready cheaper platforms for USV conversion later on

      So far the USV role is intended to patrol within Singapore's waters for a start. So any attempt to steal it would mean infringing on sovereign waters

    It had been some time with some updates. World-climate today, sea-lanes around the world have additional markings as news to the impressionable-naive-newbies and pirates. Declare lanes-routes purpose in-advance to avoid misunderstanding. Un-manned is aitonomous by implementation-failure engineers and may fire stupid. Such things are not battle proven. Tasked to air-sea (and walking-undead sensors). If written permission are granted, they can be positioned 100km north of singapore, east-west of west-malaysia. Fire-control restricted to outside of main-land singapore. Besides the hunter infantry fighting vehicle, armoured. These things are built by stupids.

      Paired with ground based UAV. The international-waters and jurisdiction are - fill in the blanks. Different rounds and shells and stuff, the usual.

      MLRS on ground, Anti-air rocket-missiles on ground. No projection. No forwards. Only umbrella coverage. Company plus on vessels are international-waters, without long-range, medium-range, short-range. Small arms and periscope quad-copters, also UAV but no-armed-drone. Keeping within defence-posture.

      This Umbrella-cover will enable sumatra-east to be within information-sharing and allow Indonesian hunter-gatherer weapons to shadow Indonesian-navy to shadow the un-manned vessel which is a bait and a singing-canary. The 3 southern-islands will not be under the umbrella-cover due to 155mm Primus with extended-range and stupid trajectory of high-near, may fall short. There are margins needed to avoid accidents, not amounting to friendly-fire. Pyrotechnics smoke and light should replace illum shells.

      baseline = ball AP ball
      sound exposes position. mounts not very mobile, no-reason not-to tracer, for autonomous-unmanned
      rate-of fire, reduction, for extra barrel cooling and durability-reliability in bad weather, with dependable, range of accuracy, for 1, 3, 5, 7 bursts (3km, 7km, and 5 different sea-states).
      slug burns armour

      @@dannyfeller7034 For Singapore it is beneficial. The country has a lower manpower due to a reduction in birth rates. Hence the military in this regard is employing technology and unmanned/autonomous systems .
      It is said by 2030 onwards the pool of servicemen in the SAF would shrink by 1/3rd.
