Hey guys! I just want to give you all an update since I've been getting a lot of comments regarding trouble with the Mirabox. First is that this does not capture in 1080p60, it only does up to 1080p30 or 720p60. I'm embarrassed that I missed this in my initial review and just took the product info at face value, but I confirmed it while going over some old footage I recorded and it definitely isn't 60fps. So lame! But straight up my bad. Second is that some people have reported issues while capturing game and chat audio with the Mirabox. If you run into this issue, try setting your system audio to output to both headset and speakers, and double check your OBS configuration. Even still, some people have had trouble with this, so it's definitely worth noting. I'm so sorry that I missed this! I'm taking notes of what things I absolutely NEED to investigate next time and I promise I'll do better! And speaking of next time, let me know if there are any video capture cards you want me to take a look at - I'm planning on snagging a few different models and doing a video on my experiences with them and comparing them to the Mirabox. I'm leaving this video up as a reminder that I'm a dummy and need to do better. Plus if you just need to capture 1080p30 video it's still a decent device for the price :)
Yeah that was one thing I forgot to mention in the video - it getting hot doesn't really affect much, but definitely is something to be aware of! i'm glad the video helped :D
Hey it's easy to miss something and you did a really amazing review. I have this capture card, while it's great to record gameplay from Xbox series X and everything looks amazing it's a little questionable for pc. I've found it does cap your pc at 60hz, I've tried to use 2 hdmi 2.1 (which can do upto 120hz, mine is 100hz) which when your playing pc games for example doom 2016 or summer 58 you get screen tearing and slight freezing. I'm still trying to find away to fix this I'm saving up for the elgato hd60 X but I'll still use Mira box for console recording ❤
So When I plug in the capture card, it makes a sound, then have it plugged into my ps4, but when I got into OBS to add a new source, the card doesn't show up, any advice?
Hey man would you recommend this one out of all the other ones ? Like the budget ones which ain’t the expensive Elgatos I just not sure what cheap one to get even £60 isn’t bad I just can’t pick one , I hope game chat works don’t know anything about thsi stuff man :)
Since it sounds like price isn't that much of a barrier to you, Elgato's options might be the best one for you. I'm not sure what you're seeing for £60, but something like the Elgato HD60 S wouldn't be a bad option: u.bitgoblin.tech/z0rck The Mirabox I'd recommend if you're on a budget, but the more expensive options from Elgato (and AverMedia and of course others) will have more features. If all you need is a simple 1080p video and audio capture card w/ a passthrough then the Mirabox would be enough, but if you're looking for more particularly on the software side then Elgato and the others might be more up your alley. Oh and yes, whichever option you choose game chat should work, you might just need to fiddle with your audio settings to get it to capture :)

I really like this video. Definitely a lot of information but I’m having an issue and I was wondering if you could help me with. I’m using a PlayStation five and I’m winning that to my Mac through the copter. Card you talk about in this video. The problem is whenever I turn my headphones on, I no longer have audio by that I mean game audio through OBS. I was wondering if you could tell me what it is that I’m doing wrong.
My guess would be that when you turn on your headphones the audio is getting routed to the headphones instead of the HDMI connection. I'd look for a way to enable both (if that can be done)
@@BitGoblin thank you for the response, that was my thought as well but so far, I haven’t been able to find a solution. It’s not that one doesn’t exist. (At least I hope one does) but I just haven’t found one yet.
so i have that exact capture card would i be able to hook it up to my Computer instead of a laptop if so could i just get like a 12ft hdmi cord to connect to my tv?
Maybe try a different USB port? I wonder if it's a bandwidth issue and it's competing with another device or if you have it connected to a USB 2 port. Honestly I haven't run into that issue before, but I also don't use it super often so maybe I just haven't run into it yet.
Great video! Just wondering does it actually give 60fps at 1080p? All I know is that the other cheap ones say its 60fps 1080p but it doesnt actually run that! Thx.
Hmm, that's odd. What OS are you running? Does your OS detect the Mirabox once it's connected (e.g. does it show up under device manager in Windows, or with lsusb on Linux)?

If i wanna use my laptop as a monitor for switch/xbox, is there any latency? I mean i woudnt use any monitor, only switch, laptop and, obviously, capture card.
i have a question, my current capture card cost $10 and the quality is so bad, sometime the video just becomes pixelated. does the video quality vary with the capture card? or are they all the same? just saw this Mirabox capture card and i trust vour review. hope my question gets answered
The quality definitely varies from card to card! Some will be better than others, usually the cheaper ones being worse than the more expensive ones (though not always). Depending on your use case this card could be good, but if you're looking to get 1080p 60fps captures (or 4k for that matter...) then you might want to look for something else. And some people have been having some trouble capturing game and chat audio with it on their consoles.
I could use some help. I read that I can use this to capture Playstation 2 stuff and I plugged everything in using an AV to HDMI converter but for some reason, while there are lights on for the USB port and the HDMI cable running to my PS2 I can't seem to get a light for the TV itself. Nothing is wrong with the HDMI cable itself, I just get no signal. Any ideas?
I think it would record in 720p, since typically your games would run at the resolution your display is running at (in this case, your 720p TV). That said, I'm not entirely sure, I'll have to test this to see what would happen.
Hi - I picked up this capture card after looking at this video, and for some reason, the resulting recorded video appears to be 30fps, not 60. I'm using VLC and hitting E a few times to examine it. There's only a change with every other frame. That is to say each frame is duplicated once resulting in 30fps. I've set what I believe to be any relevant settings that might fix it, and I'm pretty sure I got the same capture card. Any other suggestions?

It should work with any device that outputs a display via HDMI. Just to double check, you have the USB cable plugged into your PC right? It sounds like it's not getting power for some reason
Would have liked a bit more detail but its a good overview i.e. is output stereo?. Is the cable provided good enough?. What would you say is the minimum ram and graphic card for this?. Does low hd space have an effect on capture even if recording to a slave harddrive?. All sorts of stuff like that. Ive had issues.... i have an old i7 processor from 2012 with 16 gig of ram and win 10 but only 20gig of spare space on my c drive but 1tb on my slave. Im using a usb 3 port. I get stutter with switch gameplay at 30 and 60fps at 1080p and worse if my webcam is connected. Im running obs in admin mode and using nvidia encoder within obs. Its a 2060 graphic card. So my guess is more cache space possibly more ram and defo run at 30fps but like i said minimal info really around for a new streamer :-( great vid
I have found that I don't need my pc to be on, just have the power strip powered and my PS4 will be fine to use. If the strip isn't powered then my PS4 won't show up on the source.
And to be specific, I have my PC on its own power strip separate from everything else and I power it off when not in use. But because the capture card is connecting the two I just need to keep the pc's strip powered for the PS4.
Unfortunately no, it only up to 60fps on 1080p. You'd need to spend up for something like this or something from one of the major players like Elgato for 120fps @ 1080p: u.bitgoblin.tech/6figj Though this specific unit I haven't tested, so I can't speak to its quality or anything like that.
1080p 60 FPS limit is perfectly fine for me because I'm pretty much only going to be using this for recording and streaming switch gameplay for everything else I just used the built-in recording PC/Xbox/Playstation
That might work, but I don't think that'd be a good experience, as there's a bit of lag for the video sent over the USB connection. It's not horrible so I guess you could get by, but it's not something I would do. Maybe if your laptop had an HDMI in port you could use the passthrough on the Mirabox, but if that were the case you could then just do a direct HDMI connection.
i just bought this capture card, but i am unable to capture audio for both myself and the stream. if i plug in a headset to the controller i lose capture audio to the stream if i unplug a headset from my controller i lose audio for myself but gain capture audio for my stream. how can i keep both audio for myself and the stream?
I would probably go with at least an EVGA XR1 lite which is currently the cheapest capture device at $42-50 on Amazon ($100 list price) that does 1080p 60fps. I don't have that device, but I do have the XR1 is the same as the *lite* except the XR1/XR1 Pro has the 3.5mm jacks for passthrough (and XR1 Pro can do 4K capture although at 30 fps like the Elgato Cam Link 4K). I don't know if you are aware, but these devices tend to have some false advertising. The device claims 4K which might trick buyers that it can record in 4K (which would otherwise require an Elgato 4K60 Pro, 4K60 S+ or Cam Link 4K, or the EVGA XR1 Pro) as well as 1080p 60fps when it actually records 1080p 30fps or 720p 60fps. Also, the devices actually use USB 2.0 even though they claim USB 3.0. ThriftyAV actually done a video with the Mirabox and discovered that it's actually USB 2.0. Also, a review of the Rybozen claims it uses MJPEG rather than YUY2, YV12, and XRGB.
If you haven't yet, you may need to set your Xbox to output audio through headset and speakers, and then configure OBS to capture the audio. In theory this should work, but I've seen many people have trouble with it so it's possible it may just not work.
@@يَرَتوَيَبّالُحُبّقًلُبّيَ More frames means less motion blur. 24 frames is closer to what the eye sees, therefore more realistic. That's why 24 frames is used in Hollywood movies. However, in games, the realism depends on how the game is made. You can use 60 frames if your computer can handle it if you're streaming games. But if you're doing, for example, a traveling blog and you want it to be as if people are watching a movie, 24 would be a better option. Hope this helps :)
I don't notice much input latency when gaming using the passthrough. I don't have a PS5 specifically to test it with, but I can't imagine any reason it'd be any different than any other console/PC.
According the product's documentation it does support MacOS (Sierra or higher). I don't know if the M1 Macs are any different and I don't have one on hand to test it with, though I'd guess it works. If you test it, let me know if it works or not!
I'm not very familiar with lightstream, but it seems like you wouldn't need to use this with it. Since you're streaming directly to the service from your console, you wouldn't need to capture the video output and send it to a program like OBS to stream. I could be wrong though, I haven't really looked into lightstream much.
So When I plug in the capture card, it makes a sound, then have it plugged into my ps4, but when I got into OBS to add a new source, the card doesn't show up, any advice?

Though this specific unit I haven't tested, so I can't speak to its quality or anything like that.
@@BitGoblin ok thanks
1080p 60 FPS limit is perfectly fine for me because I'm pretty much only going to be using this for recording and streaming switch gameplay for everything else I just used the built-in recording PC/Xbox/Playstation
@@TheGreatCatsby93 i was planning to stream so i would need a capture card
Can i use this to watch my switch in my laptop in full screen like its a tv?
That might work, but I don't think that'd be a good experience, as there's a bit of lag for the video sent over the USB connection. It's not horrible so I guess you could get by, but it's not something I would do.
Maybe if your laptop had an HDMI in port you could use the passthrough on the Mirabox, but if that were the case you could then just do a direct HDMI connection.
Help i dont know what im doing i cant even hear the game
You might need to add the mirabox as an audio capture device in OBS. And I'd double check your game's settings are pushing audio to the hdmi port
Yeah but how do you capture the game audio 😂
i just bought this capture card, but i am unable to capture audio for both myself and the stream.
if i plug in a headset to the controller i lose capture audio to the stream
if i unplug a headset from my controller i lose audio for myself but gain capture audio for my stream.
how can i keep both audio for myself and the stream?
Will it pick up the audio from my wireless headset and pic up my party chat on call of duty? I ordered it without research 😂😂
In theory it should, but I've had many reports of it not picking up game chat and I haven't found any resolution to it yet 😬
So maybe lol.
Are you still able to PLAY the game at 4k120?
It's a 4k60 pass through, so no 😉 but the pass through has seemed fine in my usage for 4k60, though there is a slight delay
Thank you very much.
You're welcome :)
Does it come with the cords?
It comes with the USB 3.0 cable it needs, but IIRC it doesn't come with any HDMI cables.
Does chat link work with this?
If you haven't yet, you may need to set your Xbox to output audio through headset and speakers, and then configure OBS to capture the audio. In theory this should work, but I've seen many people have trouble with it so it's possible it may just not work.
Is it possible to change the captured video to 24 fps, or is just 60?
ما معنى الإطار ؟
هل كلما كان الإطار أقل كان أفضل ؟
@@يَرَتوَيَبّالُحُبّقًلُبّيَ 24 fps is the Hollywood standard. It you want your stream to have a movie feel 24 is the way to go :)
@@rgi8426 نعم أريد أن يشعر الناس أن هم في هوليود 😀😍
@@rgi8426 Is 24 frames better than 60 frames?
@@يَرَتوَيَبّالُحُبّقًلُبّيَ More frames means less motion blur. 24 frames is closer to what the eye sees, therefore more realistic. That's why 24 frames is used in Hollywood movies. However, in games, the realism depends on how the game is made. You can use 60 frames if your computer can handle it if you're streaming games. But if you're doing, for example, a traveling blog and you want it to be as if people are watching a movie, 24 would be a better option. Hope this helps :)
I have no audio tho
How do I get OBS open
Like from the start menu? You should be able to go to your start menu, search for OBS, and launch it that way - if it's installed, of course.
@@BitGoblin o I thought you opened it without downloading you didn’t say you needed to download it so I thought it came with the pc
Ah I see, sorry for the confusion! OBS can be downloaded from their site: obsproject.com/
@@BitGoblin no it’s ok dude but maybe you should pin the link if anyone else is confused I realized
Good idea, I just put in the description
Theres any input lag on ps5? 🤔
I don't notice much input latency when gaming using the passthrough. I don't have a PS5 specifically to test it with, but I can't imagine any reason it'd be any different than any other console/PC.
@@BitGoblin thanks :), im gonna try it
You're welcome, good luck! Let me know if you notice anything weird :D
Hi, does it work on Mac M1?
According the product's documentation it does support MacOS (Sierra or higher). I don't know if the M1 Macs are any different and I don't have one on hand to test it with, though I'd guess it works.
If you test it, let me know if it works or not!
@@BitGoblin Thank you, gonna test it on my Macbook M1, hope it works
You're welcome, and good luck! Let me know if it works or not
It worlds on the m1 just fine just don’t go over 6000 nitrate in obs and stick to 72060 output
Does it work with n64?
I believe it should work, so long as you have a way to convert from analog to HDMI
It doesn’t work better of with streaming straight from ps5
Can I use this on lightstream
I'm not very familiar with lightstream, but it seems like you wouldn't need to use this with it. Since you're streaming directly to the service from your console, you wouldn't need to capture the video output and send it to a program like OBS to stream.
I could be wrong though, I haven't really looked into lightstream much.
So When I plug in the capture card, it makes a sound, then have it plugged into my ps4, but when I got into OBS to add a new source, the card doesn't show up, any advice?
