I have a colleague that's Greek Orthodox. He is in his late 50s and he told me it's a discipline you need to work on and it really is something between you and God. Some people fast no problem others struggle and can take them years to build the discipline for even one fast day a week, it's no competition and there is no "extra grace" given like in the Catholic church. I've been going to the Catholic church for almost a year now. Mostly because of Trent Horn videos but because of you, Jay Dyer and my colleague, I attended my first Divine Liturgy this past Sunday. I was totally blown away. I'm even considering dropping out of RCIA, I can't ever go back to Catholic legalism and Novus Ordo mass. Athletes for Christ is an excellent description of Orthodoxy. Let's not sugarcoat it, living an Orthodox life is exceedingly hard! Not just the fasting, the constant praying, the long liturgies which leave you exhausted after over two hours of standing and crossing and bowing and long prostrations on hard floors, no.... Wrong! The hardest part is reaching humility and repentance. It does not come easily to a modern sinful mind.

Thank you for these videos kyle, I've been looking into theology since I was confirmed into the Lutheran church when I was a teenager and the orthodox church has revealed itself to me extensively since watching you, Father Spyridon and a few other channels. I've got a prayer book and orthodox study bible and have attended a few liturgies at a nearby orthodox church and I'm trying my best to get confirmed. Thank you sincerely, God bless you.
I've been looking into Orthodoxy for months now, but just barely attended my first Divine Liturgy because I don't have a car and it's difficult to get to the church closest to me. But I'm praying and reading every day and I'm excited to start this journey 🙏☦️
I went to church this september and after liturgy, we were given free cofee and pancakes and Bibles for Kids and colorbooks of Jesus' life. Seeing that community is something to be very proud of as a Orthodox christian☦️.
Ya know, this was one of the first videos I saw when I was inquiring into the faith. Now, I’m being received on Sunday 🙏🏼 Thank you for this video, Kyle! Glory to Jesus Christ! ☦️
I have the same prayer book and study Bible as you do. I have been attending services, including this passing Paschal service which was really beautiful. This Saturday my Priest and I will be discussing a date to finally do my Christmation.
Great video on what is actually the most important aspect of Orthodox Christianity…living it! Prayers and attending the services are crucial to learning the faith. A lot of the prayers (especially in the Jordanville prayer book), contain a lot of theology. Same with the liturgy. Keep it up!
Thank you for your videos. Happy to report that after over a year of researching and praying, my wife and I started attending our local orthodox church and, last Saturday, became catechumen having come from pentecostalism 😊 glad to be starting this journey to the true church and body of Christ
I'm in a transitional phase from Norwegian Lutheranism to Orthodoxy rn so i really appreciate you making this video. A video on the importance of fasting would be great too, i've always wondered why protestants don't do it anymore, even though we still have the fasting days as holidays.
New Catechumen here. Eternally grateful to have found the fullness of the church! ☦️ Kyle, do you remember where you got your prayer rope? I really like the style of yours.
Very informative video, the Orthodox church is so fascinating. As a Catholic revert, I can strongly say that my faith is an integral part of my life, it truly is a lifestyle. Praying every chance you get, constantly making the sign of the cross, talking about it any chance I get lmao. It truly is a lifestyle.
I like that you mention to take things slow I’m first time reading the holy bible and sometimes feel bad for skipping days or not reading as much, but I wish to keep my heart into it and read to understand and not just say I read it.
I was baptised Catholic as a baby, then my parents joined the Methodist church when I was a toddler, and I grew up Msthodist. Almost 5 years ago something terrible happened to me (debilitating medical condition) that made me look into Orthodoxy. Unfortunately, there are no Orthodox churches in my city, the closest one is so far away, and I'm not as mobile as I once was. So I watch Orthodox services online, I watch literally hundreds of videos about it. But deep down, I want to become Orthodox.
I've tried doing repetitions of the Jesus Prayer without a prayer rope; pretty soon you start focusing on the number of prayers way more than their contents. It's an essential tool.
I was raised protestant (i am only 14) i have recently wanted to get closer to god than getting "entertained" by him at the concert-esk "services" at most protestant churches. Ive been reading about different kinds of christianity for some time now, and i feel verry accepted into the orthodox community after have gone to my local church a few times.
Very informative. Wish more orthodox made videos like these to help out us who are intrigued with the faith! God bless you and your life in JESUS name Kyle. Praise be to YAH

Love this! It is such a beautiful sight to see so many people interested in learning more about Orthodoxy. To all who are thinking about it, please continue to seek and you will find your way home ❤
I have truly accepted Christ and wanted to look to orthodoxy as I genuinely can't stop wishing to praise and live the word of God ! I love my local church and a fully involved but sometimes I feel there is not as much devotion as what I personally am seeking and the Orthodox Church is certainly what I feel my path to God is. Also 29 year old so trust me the youth is coming back to the father !
I converted to orthodoxy last November and it’s the best decision I made and I also got married in the orthodox church. But when I fast on Wednesdays and Fridays I fast from everything except oil I told my priest and he said it was fine
Thank you for creating this informative and helpful video. Your advice on taking one step at a time resonated with me. As athletes of God, we experience growth through both time and discipline.
Meant to say a bit more in my last post, I love your content brother! You’ve really got some divine inspiration, I think. A heart after God for sure, that good apostolic spirit that God gives us. Your videos are really helping me on this journey into the true Church, I’ve always wanted to live as the first Christians did, I used to think that was Catholicism, now I’m convinced the humility and endurance of repentance found in the Orthodoxy is the way. God bless you brother! I hope our paths cross one day, truly!
Thank you for your excellent videos. I’ve been orthodox throughout my life but I haven’t truly practiced consistently. You put us on the right path so thank you again.
I have been looking for an explanation for what i have strayed from for quite some time. You have helped me realize my faults, and strayed me back to where i belong. Thank you for taking the time to make this video.
I’m a protestant but i am very interested in orthodoxy. This video was super helpful and you seem like a super fun person. I am very thankful that God put this video in my recommendations. May God bless you 🩷
Excellent video, brother, you remember how you said that everything has its meaning with us , please when you do the cross sign : You start from the forhead, then you go to the belly button (stomach), then the right shoulder, then the left shoulder. Not on the chest, but on the stomach (belly button). Because if you go to the chest, then it is an inverted sign of the cross . God bless you all. Greetings from Serbia. Keep up the good work 😊
Wow! Your content is tremendous, thank you brother for helping people in the orientation to the true Faith. God bless you and cheers from Switzerland 🌷☦️
One little thing I try to do daily is check the orthodox calendar and download the icon of the Saint or feast of the day to my phone and set it as the background Pic for my phone. Usually I try to use that as the prompt to read about the saint's life
Really good video! Everything you talked about is what I strive to do daily. Coming from pr*testantism, Fasting is the best part of Orthodoxy. Fasting is so important for the reasons you listed. A video going into depth on fasting would be welcome.
Appreciate your mentioning of Saint Sava and the the SOC since it gets a lot of hate from our neighbors. Fun fact: Serbs have been baptized by the Latin western rite initially. Serb rulers were in a rather tricky situation when some of them were under the influence of Rome and the others under Constantiople. After the Nemanjas took over, Rastko Nemanjic (Saint Sava) and later his father Stefan Nemanja (Simeon the Myrrh Streaming) became monks on Athos in the monastery Hilandar and helped us find the true way to Jesus Christ.
as a Catholic, I love learning about the differences between Christian denominations and this video was informative. God bless you, Orthodox brothers and sisters!
1:52 So glad you touched on that, doing the sign of the cross from right to left is based and true to the church. The right side was always considered holy and most important than the left side. It's only logical to do the sign of the cross from right to left. Have you heard of "putting your right foot forward"? Exactly, right is always holy.
we ethiopian orthodox chrsitians do it from left to right , it means jesus christ came down to earth for our sin and the sign from left to right represents that he brought adam from hell to heaven after he fall. it also has another meaning, when we make cross sign from above to down it (when we touch our forehead) it means we are great because of jesus christ but we fall by our sins(when we bring our right hand to down) ,then we are saying but you God dont leave me alone in left in my (sins) you will bring me back to the (right) the aim is to express our faith and also to keep away evil. times we make cross sign are when we start and finish prayer when we get out out of home andcome back when we get scaried, when we eat we make cross on the food and on our face, thank you. sorry for my english.
Hello Kyle, I just wanted to add that, according to the Cannon 91 from the 1841 Pidalion of Saint Basil the Great, the correct sign of the Cross is: 1- forehead, 2- navel, not chest, 3- right shoulder, 4- left shoulder, because otherwise it looks like an upside down cross, or like the Catholics say, the cross of St Peter, but the thing is we dont worship St Peter, we worship Jesus Christ! It's important to do the sign corectly so that it's trully efficient in sactifying and that the demons dont make a mockery of us! I didnt know either until my priest explained to us in church, so I hope this knowledge will lead you closer to Christ ! God bless you and keep up the great work!
Thank you so much! Currently half way through RCIA but I just can’t go along with this pope’s teaching and all of the changes. Johnathan Cahn called it the apostasy. I am LDS so I’ve had the temple experiences, the reverence and the very strict covenants. I just have never been able to testify that I know the Book of Mormon is true. Still searching and I recently heard the Lord say to me “you will know in time” it was so clear to me that I went in the house and found an envelope and wrote it down.
I paused my Catholic baptism because i feel like I rushed into it without giving orthodox a chance the one thing I LOVE about the orthodox church is the prayer life
That's a good idea. My personal experience there were a few, biggest of which was my family. They don't understand why I felt I had to switch. It's also a change adjusting to the emphasis on fasting and lifestyle of praying more. When Catholic we went out for fish and seafood Fridays for lent and it's very different approach in Orthodoxy. I had to learn new recipes. And although my family went regularly to church, a routine of praying every day at regular times was a change for me personally.
I just started going to a local orthodox church for about a month now. And I'm finding myself doing research everyday to understand everything orthodox. I find it extremely hard and intimidating because I'm a former Jehovah's Witness and after 5 years of leaving that cult I still have a fear of how the orthodox worship but I can't help myself for some reason because I agree too much and am searching for "The truth". I use to live with the pride that we JW's have "the truth" and preach door to door everyday. But this is SO different than what I thought I knew to be true. I'm learning something new everyday and i'm taking this new faith really slow, but i love it so far and I bring my children to the church and take it so easily I can't believe it sometimes. They sing, they do the cross as if they were born into that faith. It's amazing to watch them and makes me want to do more too. This video was really good for me, I appreciate it. I'm also trying to share this with my JW family and THIS is the type of video I've been trying to find to explain really simply everything that I can't explain. So thank you.
Glory to God! 1. PLEASE do not burn yourself out. "research everyday to understand everything orthodox" It is very easy to get excited and over due it. Currently I have some JW's visting me, mainly because if someone knocks on my door and wants to talk about God, I am not going to turn them away. How did you happen to wake up?
@@mamaliamalak7825 Shunning from my family sped up the process for me. And the last straw was the disrespect of our parenting skills and not wanting to bring my son to the meetings. So, I stopped going altogether and started watching Llyod Evans on here and finally woke up completely.
@@meggoodhope1245 I started watching YT videos of Orthodox explanations on a specific topic. The I googled church history and saw how the Orthodox have stayed the same for 2000 years. I also started watching street preachers talking to the JW carts like Jeff Durbin. That's when my eyes were opened on the trinity. Then I physically went into an Orthodox church, and I was blown away. I never stopped going.
I just went to my first Divine Liturgy this month. It was Russian Orthodox. I am currently a Protestant but slowly finding myself getting more interested in orthodoxy. Thanks for your content man, keep it up. It’s super helpful!

Im an ex evangelical Protestant. I haven’t been to the Protestant church in a long time even when I was still a Protestant, but after examining my faith and doing a lot of reading, I found so many flaws. Like sola fide, sola scripture, and how the entire foundation of Protestantism is unbiblical how ironic that might be considering sola scriptura. I started reading about other denominations and eventually came to Eastern Orthodoxy. I’m convinced this is the true church, it also strengthened my theology and spirituality. I started reading on the incarnation by st Athanasius, the Bible and the holy fathers for orthodoxy for daily readings, and started doing the Jesus prayer and using a prayer book. I was baptized in the Name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit by someone my parents knew but I don’t know much about him or his beliefs. But since the Orthodox Church says that the legitimacy of a sacrament like baptism doesn’t depend on the spiritual state who performs it for you doesn’t matter, I think it’s still valid. Unfortunately there are no orthodox churches near my area so far I know but I’m still looking
Thanks you for sharing! I would try and email your closest Orthodox Church / talking to the Priest and letting them know your situation.. It will work out for you!! God Bless!

Awesome! Fr. Spyridon is great! God Bless you, glad you are joining the Church (:
I was exactly like you. I’m currently at subdeacon pursuing the Diaconate. The true Faith is the body of Christ.
Glory to God!
It's so awesome to see a prayer for -AFTER- the meals in the Orthodox prayer book as well.
I've been looking into Orthodoxy for months now, but just barely attended my first Divine Liturgy because I don't have a car and it's difficult to get to the church closest to me. But I'm praying and reading every day and I'm excited to start this journey 🙏☦️
What a nice young man. God bless you, Kyle! ☦️
Thanks! God bless!
Glory to God!
I have the same prayer book and study Bible as you do. I have been attending services, including this passing Paschal service which was really beautiful. This Saturday my Priest and I will be discussing a date to finally do my Christmation.
Congrats ☦ Glory to God!
Great video on what is actually the most important aspect of Orthodox Christianity…living it! Prayers and attending the services are crucial to learning the faith. A lot of the prayers (especially in the Jordanville prayer book), contain a lot of theology. Same with the liturgy. Keep it up!
Thank you 🙏🙏
God bless you, brother. 🙏🏾
Thank you (:
Kyle, you rock dude 😎😎
You may not have been raised piously in Orthodox fashion but you were certainly raised well
Thank you (:
Thank you so much this gives me so much motivation to go to my local Orthodox Church
Thank you for this important and helpful informational video.
It really helps me on my journey to Orthodoxy. ☦️
Great to hear Daina, God Bless 🙏🙏
Lord Jesus Christ Son of God, have mercy on us sinners, all glory to God Amen
Thank you for your videos. Happy to report that after over a year of researching and praying, my wife and I started attending our local orthodox church and, last Saturday, became catechumen having come from pentecostalism 😊 glad to be starting this journey to the true church and body of Christ
Glory to God! happy for you!
Kyle, do you remember where you got your prayer rope?
Sometimes it's better to set a time frame rather than specific number if you don't have a rope on you, i.e. ten minutes, etc.
@@Cobruh_Commander That's very helpful, thank you!

I am Serbian Orthodox Christian since birth. Your videos are outstanding and made me tears, the good ones you know. God bless you and be always with you. Try booky by Sv. Vladika Nikolaj Velimirović, or Sv. Tadej Vitovnički, Sv. Vasilije. Ostroški.
Yes, whatever your priest says! That is awesome, congrats on joining the Church & marriage. God Bless!!
hi, my name is Beimnet and I am from Ethiopia i am so glad to hear you Speaking about orthodox i would like to hear more as i am also orthodox😃😃
Thank you for creating this informative and helpful video. Your advice on taking one step at a time resonated with me. As athletes of God, we experience growth through both time and discipline.
Jesus Christ, have mercy on me, a sinner.
The Jesus prayer is medicine.

I am sure they will! You will find that Orthodoxy is a small world ☦you will meet lots of great people. May God Bless you on your journey! 🙏
Amen, brother! God bless you! ☦️🇷🇸💕💕💕

I’m a protestant but i am very interested in orthodoxy. This video was super helpful and you seem like a super fun person. I am very thankful that God put this video in my recommendations. May God bless you 🩷
Great video! God Bless ☦️
Love from Georgia 🇬🇪 god bless you ☦️
thanks (:
Excellent video, brother, you remember how you said that everything has its meaning with us , please when you do the cross sign : You start from the forhead, then you go to the belly button (stomach), then the right shoulder, then the left shoulder. Not on the chest, but on the stomach (belly button). Because if you go to the chest, then it is an inverted sign of the cross . God bless you all. Greetings from Serbia. Keep up the good work 😊
Wow! Your content is tremendous, thank you brother for helping people in the orientation to the true Faith. God bless you and cheers from Switzerland 🌷☦️
Glad you like my videos! God bless!
Brother in Christ Kyle, I rejoice to see that you have been greatly blessed and have found your way home to the Church.
One little thing I try to do daily is check the orthodox calendar and download the icon of the Saint or feast of the day to my phone and set it as the background Pic for my phone. Usually I try to use that as the prompt to read about the saint's life
That is a really good idea!
Great idea!
I'm going to orthodox church in orthodox Amersfoort. I wanna join the church feels so good.
Awesome to hear!! God Bless ☦☦
Really good video! Everything you talked about is what I strive to do daily. Coming from pr*testantism, Fasting is the best part of Orthodoxy. Fasting is so important for the reasons you listed. A video going into depth on fasting would be welcome.
Yes! I will try and do that in the future (:
Nothing prevents Protestants from fasting, I know many Protestants who regularly fast.
why did you bleep out protestantism? its not a bad word
You're helping me find my way. I was born orthodox and took it for granted, but then I got lost.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Orthodoxy really has my attention
Another great video. Thank you❤
🙏🙏
Thanks Kyle, it is amazing video, God bless you...
Glad you enjoyed it!
as a Catholic, I love learning about the differences between Christian denominations and this video was informative. God bless you, Orthodox brothers and sisters!

PLEASE DO A MORE DETAILED VIDEO ON FASTING, I'M NEW IN THE CHURCH
1:52 So glad you touched on that, doing the sign of the cross from right to left is based and true to the church. The right side was always considered holy and most important than the left side. It's only logical to do the sign of the cross from right to left. Have you heard of "putting your right foot forward"? Exactly, right is always holy.
we ethiopian orthodox chrsitians do it from left to right , it means jesus christ came down to earth for our sin and the sign from left to right represents that he brought adam from hell to heaven after he fall.
it also has another meaning, when we make cross sign from above to down it (when we touch our forehead) it means we are great because of jesus christ but we fall by our sins(when we bring our right hand to down) ,then we are saying but you God dont leave me alone in left in my (sins) you will bring me back to the (right)
the aim is to express our faith and also to keep away evil.
times we make cross sign are when we start and finish prayer
when we get out out of home andcome back
when we get scaried, when we eat we make cross on the food and on our face,
thank you. sorry for my english.
@@TrendTalk156 Thats goes for us too in the coptic churchs.
I grew up in the Russian Old believer Church in Woodburn Oregon
This is easily the best video that I have watched from your content! Great job.

Thank you for the education. You are a big reason I want to be baptized and are converting
Glory to God ☦☦ Let me know if you have any questions 🙏
I paused my Catholic baptism because i feel like I rushed into it without giving orthodox a chance the one thing I LOVE about the orthodox church is the prayer life
Great video.
Please do one on the challenges that you've faced going from traditionnal catholicism to orthodoxy.
That is a good video idea, I will try and do in the future!
You want to build a suitable faith = Orthodox for life. Focus on your family and other hobbies also.
Thank you for sharing your story. Check out this video also: ua-cam.com/video/_dP4ppvQZpU/v-deo.html - Orthodox Christianity explained

So, I stopped going altogether and started watching Llyod Evans on here and finally woke up completely.
hey
I'm a college student who is also a JW considering on converting to orthodoxy but I'm still researching
can you let me know how your research went
@@meggoodhope1245 I started watching YT videos of Orthodox explanations on a specific topic. The I googled church history and saw how the Orthodox have stayed the same for 2000 years. I also started watching street preachers talking to the JW carts like Jeff Durbin. That's when my eyes were opened on the trinity. Then I physically went into an Orthodox church, and I was blown away. I never stopped going.
Correction on Sava: he didn’t convert Serbs to Christianity, he was a great educator and achieved autocephalous status for the Serbian church.
Thank you so much. I recently just started my journey. I am trying to convert to orthodox.
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on us and your world!!!
I just went to my first Divine Liturgy this month. It was Russian Orthodox. I am currently a Protestant but slowly finding myself getting more interested in orthodoxy. Thanks for your content man, keep it up. It’s super helpful!
Glad you like it! and congrats! it gets better with time! and stay after for lunch / coffee. great way to meet people, the priest, and get in Cathcecism classes.. God bless ☦☦
God Bless!
Sola Fide is pretty clear in the Bible.
