Jesus existed before he became a human being in the flesh. The son of God didn't come into existence through the birth of Jesus. The birth of Jesus is when the son of God manifested himself as Jesus, the man. And because he was born sinless, he became the new Adam.

I just find Sneako's feigned confusion to be humorous. Clearly the concept of the triune God has been articulated. He's not trying to understand it, he seems compelled to reject it. Actually I think that debate between Sneako and the Orthodox guy was not very helpful at all. First of all Sneako's not a philosopher, he even says very clearly in the video - "The reason I left Christianity is because I've never heard an answer that makes sense TO ME". The Ortho guy just spews a bunch of high level, hard to understand, dogmatic definitions with "insider" language. Why go that route? It would be way more useful to make some good analogies, go full Pageau mode and show how the multiplicity/unity can be observed everywhere. I think just dumping a bunch of philosophical definitions on a simple guy and then essentially calling him too dumb to understand it is counterproductive. Make it understandable TO HIM and maybe he'll change his mind.

I think that one funny thing that muslims say is that "Jesus was a prophet and not God". If they want to argue that Jesus wasn't God, sure argue that but to say that Jesus can't be God because he is a prophet is strange. Christianity is based on reforms and Islam never accepts reforms, we always turn back to our book for an example of how to live. It’s true that Muslim countries are being liberal but we don’t have a theology that relies on priests and popes. I just find Sneako's feigned confusion to be humorous. Clearly the concept of the triune God has been articulated. He's not trying to understand it, he seems compelled to reject it. It comes across to me that he knows the moral prescriptions implicates if Christianity is correct and doesn't want to live that way. Its why he embraced islam so quickly before understanding what the fullness of obedience to that religion would imply, and why he's growing away from that religion as well. Sneako is a prodigal running from any kind of duty and responsibility to God to be obedient. We pray that he tires of fleeing when nobody pursues and submits himself to God. The yoke is easy, the burden is light.

My family is catholic and I’m interested in Orthodoxy, but I find a lack of churches in Ok/TX region
OKC has St. Elias Antiochian Orthodox Church. There's also good Churches in Tulsa.
There are a fair amount of Orthodox Churches in Texas. Houston, and Dallas have a bit.
Even if the church is two hours away you should still go, I did that for 2 years, not every week but at least in the beginning

Actually I think that debate between Sneako and the Orthodox guy was not very helpful at all. First of all Sneako's not a philosopher, he even says very clearly in the video - "The reason I left Christianity is because I've never heard an answer that makes sense TO ME". The Ortho guy just spews a bunch of high level, hard to understand, dogmatic definitions with "insider" language. Why go that route? It would be way more useful to make some good analogies, go full Pageau mode and show how the multiplicity/unity can be observed everywhere.
I think just dumping a bunch of philosophical definitions on a simple guy and then essentially calling him too dumb to understand it is counterproductive. Make it understandable TO HIM and maybe he'll change his mind.
I can see your point though, Pageau's breakdown/approach would require a 1 on 1 conversation where there is no other Muslim around interrupting and definitely not at speakers corner.
At speakers corner, high level debate is a thing. Truth is, to your point, Sneako shouldn't be at speakers corner at all.

I think that one funny thing that muslims say is that "Jesus was a prophet and not God". If they want to argue that Jesus wasn't God, sure argue that but to say that Jesus can't be God because he is a prophet is strange. Jesus is God, but that does not disprove that he can't be a prophet. A prophet is a person who spreads the will of god, why can't Jesus be God and a prophet at the same time? Jesus is a prophet because he spreads the will of God the Father and he is also God.

The idea is that the texts had been changed, over time, to fit an agenda for the people who had changed it. So it's not so much about translation as it is about entire text being altered into a new book. In other words, a Muslim views the Bible as a totally different book that was the result of massive tampering and rewriting of the original Torah and the Injil (New Testament).
