I want to travel back in time and kick everybody at BL up the bum for failing to ensure that the SD1 had all the opportunities it deserved. Such a beautiful motor vehicle and Rover was a well-respected marque. Those qualities and the lovely ex-Buick V8 were a winning combination. Nice to see that this one is so well cared for. And the colour really suits it. Gorgeous.
That's one good looking SD1, looks in great condition! I've always had fond memories of my Dad's three SD1's he owned when we were kids, we went all over Europe on holidays in them. Great cars.
Thanks. I've loved them since I first saw one as a child, rotting away in a garden. Its shape stuck with me, and now my veins run the colour of rust, oil leaks and Lucas electrical smoke.
The last car I had in the UK before leaving in 1993 was an '82 SD1 Vanden Plas - loved it! I carried a rolled up 4" foam mattress and slept very comfortably in the back 🙂
I think they've aged very well and still look modern. Sadly we never got them as police cars over here, so didn't get to see them in the wild. They were rare when I was a kid, and still are today.
Thanks. Probably wasn't a smart idea to buy it at the height of fuel costs, but such is life. Soon we won't be able to have cars like this, so I'm choosing to get in and enjoy them now.
What a mint car! Would love an SD1 someday. Just subscribed 👌
Easily looks better than that modern red car at the end. Timeless design!

My Uncle had one in the 80s we called it the flapper as the bottom of the wings were rotten out.

Beautiful car, sounds so good 👌
Wow! Looks stunning - love the paint colour too!
Thanks. Its a good colour, and looks nice in the sun. Could do with a polish to make the flake in it show better.
Gorgeous, badass looking car.
I wont lie, it really is 😁
Beautiful car mate and must be rare as hen's teeth in your country aswell.
Thanks. Yes, very rare, one of 10 that I know of.
Beautiful 👍🏼
Great to see you back in a Rover SD1.
Thanks, I'm glad to be back in one, despite all the issues.
Proper car
Gorgeous
Lovely
Love the shape of the SD1 a great survivor your car so sad not many about now in the UK
No they turn to dust right before your eyes.
Still a great looking car. Used to love seeing them as a jam sandwich (police car) when I was a kid.

@@Tasteslikepetrol well we didn't get Ford Falcons or Holden Commodores so we'll call it evens.
@@nudgerss Count yourself lucky, uninspiring barges 🤣
J'avais une rover SD1 aussi une voiture attachante et très belle !
Good evening
Same colour as my VDP
Lovely car fella! Your reversing lights are not working, by the way? 🤔
Thanks. The reverse lights work on standard British Leyland time; when they want to.
I'm restoring a Vdp almost same colour, could you help find some parts?
Cool, good luck on your project. Most parts come from eBay UK, Rimmer Bros, or the local Rover club.
The reverse lights on mine never worked either...
They have their moments, like most Lucas electrics
And why the fog lights?
Effect?
Nice car would love one but with fuel in UK now £1.85+ per litre for premium unleaded not so sure i could afford to use on a regular basis

Haha I sold my suzuki swift and bought a lexus gs350 a year ago right before fuel prices went nuts. Bad timing 🤣
