- Part 2 of our first day a Bromont bike park. It stopped raining and the sun came out which really dried out the trails and made them considerably faster. We got a guided tour from a Bromont local Adam Robbins, a friend I knew from Downhill racing. He also works for Faction bikes who has been working with Neko Mulally to develop their race bikes.

Well I did take five years of spanish when i returned to the states. I can understand it okayish, but taking spanish while slowly loosing my french really messed with me.

Didn’t know you spoke French - and quite well too! Very nice to see and evidently you put in the efforts to learn it, as it is a very tough language to learn and, especially, master.
He lived in France when he was younger, mid elementary til just before starting high school. Forgot...😅
Well I didn't really have a choice, I was thrown into a public French school and it was kind of sink or swim. I learned how to count to 20 and the days of the week right before moving that was all I knew. By the time I left most people didn't realize I wasn't French. But it's been 20 years since I've spoken it regularly and spoken Quebec French is quite different from the French I spoke.
@@SkillsWithPhil Yes, that makes sense then. French is so hard that a many anglophones that were born in Montreal barely speak it. And I'm not surprised people wouldn't be able to tell you weren't French: your accent is really good. And yes, Quebec French is very different and our accent is much harder to understand than France's. That being said, at least, most people here speak English which isn't the case accross the Atlantic.
Bromont looks great. It makes me wonder why so many Canadians come over to Highland when Bromont is right there? Bromont is now on my list for this summer.
Well Highland is pretty cool and isn't pretty close. I can't blame them. But it's also why we like to go up there and ride their stuff. :)

Absolutely destroying Bromont! That place is one of the chunkiest places I've ever ridden! Nice to see Adam Robbins featured a bunch in these Bromont videos! I've "ridden" with him before on my channel and he is FAST!!!
Adam and i got back quite a bit. He was still a junior when i was at my professional racing peak, but his times weren't incredibly far off mine back then. I also rode with him in my EWS100 burke videos.
When he said ‘river gap” I was thinking of a full-on river, not a tiny stream, hah. It would be cool to see a trail with a full-on river gap jump.
Yeah haha, "river gap" and "landing in it" really didnt compute in my head.

Yeah thats a big double that we all discovered while watching connor fearon video! Didnt even thought that was supposed to be a double, only two little jumps! 😂😂 Some youngsters are doing it nowadays and I saw they were calling it the connor jump or something like this. Lol

Gawd we only saw it for a couple seconds in this video but THANK GAWD GT changed their freakin font back to something that wasn't an awful font. You wounldn't think it would make that much of difference but when your entire brand revolves around 2 letters and a font.... changing the font.... fuckin' death. Recognize what your brand is. ITS AMAZING, its freakin GT baby! and its 2 LETTERS AND THE FONT. Without that font its just 2 letters.

I moved there the summer before 4th grade and left after 7th grade. When i was in france i was the "American", and when i moved back i was known as frenchie 🤷♂️

It's really not hard to understand quebec news hosts, but the spoken Quebec diverts really far away from Parisian french. The word "esti" and one another really throws me off. That and remembering which place uses what words. France: email, weekend, voiture, copine | Quebec: Courielle, fin de la semain, char, blonde.
Yeah but it is the same in France, USA and pretty much everywhere... thats called a slang! Teenagers dont speak in the streets like they learned speaking at school! ;)

Sadly no really. This was almost 20 years ago, the first iPod had just been released, cellphone cameras weren't a thing and I didn't own a camera.

Both videos are from the same day. Before/After lunch. It was raining in the morning, and dusty by the end of the day.

I used to ride there a bit..... i have never met people so rude and snobby as i have experienced in Quebec, the second they see you speak English it seemed we were to scum of the earth to them and a inconvenience. We would try and talk and say hello ect and they would just turned their back and ignore you.
Wtf Bro sorry for that bad experience. Normaly we enjoy helping people and there a big population that speak more english than french around Bromont. Hope you come back and enjoy the place! ✌️
Maybe they were just shy to speak english? If you were just rude trying to speak to girls, thats might be the problem too. Lolll
