It's crazy how the story went out of its way to prolong the war when Edelgard was just a hair away from winning. And she didn't even want to kill Dimitri or Rhea, just capture them.
Edelgard's goal wasn't only the Church mind you. She wanted to unite all of Fodlan under her grasp and Dimitri and Claide were still guarding the independence of their territories. They were sure as heck to not become the Empire lackeys.
Ah, yes.... how unreasonable of Dimitri or Rhea, to not put up with JUST being captured while Edelgard *checks notes* conquers the continent.

I don't really think "having your strongest general and a large detachment completely surrounded in enemy territory, while what footholds you do secure on the other front are shaky at best, oh and also there's rampant civil unrest in your own territory" is "a hair away from winning the war" mate
Sure Edelgard wins in her route, but you act as if she steamrolled Dimitri and Claude. Canonically, even on her own route, they put up a pretty solid resistance.
@@kohai-kun9261 Completely missed the point. They are essentially saying that so much of Scarlet Blaze is fluff to make the route longer. Which is true when you look at how often Edelgard got far into Faerghus only to get turned around for some reason, and having to bounce back and forth between Faerghus, Leceister, and Adrestia. The writing literally made it so that Edelgard was close to her goal only for something to pop up and stop it.
They’re not saying those things didn’t happen, they’re saying they happened to prolong the story.
That is indeed what SB was. Literally going back and forth from one side of the continent to the other. I love how even the characters comment that they've been doing a lot of bouncing around.
Some npcs were even starting to question edelgards intelligence with that. She herself mentioned getting embarrassingly blindsided. I couldn’t stop laughing at the comments she kept getting.
I definitely felt like I was bouncing around the continent all throughout Scaret Blaze trying to get anything done.
The ‘I lived, bitch’ got me. I never was satisfied to leave the big bads of Scarlet Blaze to be finished off by a ‘eh, they’re probably dead’
I love how much detail they give showing how tough it is to be fighting on so many fronts. This was less of a problem in 3 houses since she had(some) support of Slithers
The second I saw the notification on Edelgard's phone I said and I quote, "I lived bitch" and I was not disappointed. I made an assumption it was Rhea but I didn't expect the next text too 😅🤣
I thought both were in Hell

But on a more serious note, it sucks that unlike in Three Houses, the Black Eagles are forced to kill Ingrid, and her death hurt me more than Dimitri and Dedue's in Crimson Flower. Also, maybe hot take, but I think Annette should be recruitable on all routes and Sylvain on Scarlet Blaze. Feels kind of unfair for the Blue Lions to have way more exclusive units than the other houses. Also, Annette doesn't strike me as fiercely loyal as Ingrid, Felix, and Dedue; with Sylvain, I feel he would agree with Edelgard's goals, plus he would become a second Scarlet Blaze Blue Lion exclusive like Mercedes.
Maybe it is because he have a deep friendship with Dimitri, Ingrid and Felix.
Unlike 3 houses where he bonds with teacher in 3 hopes he do not spend much time with BE or Shez.
Annette father won't leave Dimitri and like Sylvain she would not be as close to BE like in 3 houses where she could spend the entire year with them.
Ashe just follow his adoptive father and Mercedes her little brother, their family ties is stronger than their friendship in SB.
I don't think Jeritza would be able to atract students from other classes like Byleth and they left the monastery very early too.
On the other hand Byleth start as a wierdo teacher but bond more and more with the students over time, give gifts, have dinner, tea party, find lost things and helps them in every fight.
You can't expect Sylvain to change sides after we killed Ingrid. It would be weird 😅

Silvain actually doesn't agree with Edelgard's way(starting a war) for reformation at all and in 3 house he just joins the Black Eagles because of Byleth

@@v.emiltheii-nd.8094 How? Billy passed 2 weeks before release, Games usually go gold (IE finished developmen) a few weeks before that as well. Id expect developement to have finished in may, and voice lines could easily have been cleared before that.
Whilst it wont be easy to add new lines for Ferdinand via DLC, everything should have been recorded before we even hit June.
His tragic passing, shouldnt have interfered with that, unless im missing something.

Edelgard believed in the Goddess? Unless I'm mistaken, she pretty much admitted to Manuela of being an atheist but she can respect Manuela's faith and belief on a personal scale? Her beef seems less about religion itself and more on how it could be used as a political and societal means for control.
You know it wouldn't have hurt to add in some more lore that says, 'Edelgard is so desperate to accomplish her goals because her dual crests give her only five years to live' or 'she once tried to talk to Rhea about her vision for a new society, but the latter took it as traitorous intent and forbid Edelgard from bringing it up again'
Eh she’s kind of evil.
I mean this is exactly why she didn't. She would have jeopardized everything and as much as a gamble it would've been to convince Rhea it was a risky one. Rhea's too stubborn and El knows it since the latter kept the status quo for centuries so much so that her views were already to deeply entrenched for change to be possible.
And it was implied that El's shortspan is affected though not as severely as Lysithea.

For all things considered in lore GD and BL did bring less death and did make more sense in the grand schemes of things

I have so many problems with this route.
1. How on Earth does the Empire have that much problem with the kingdom? 2/3 of the nobles are oposing the king and hate the central church.
2. Why are the slithers so stupid here, (more then ussual) why show up before they defeat rhea? the ending was waay to convident.

Not recruitable
Basically without Byleth as a leader to unite and bond with everyone, recruitment options are more limited. Plus having been at the monastery for only a few months means a lot of characters have less motivation to side with people outside their nation as they didn't have as much chance to get to know them.
@@Ryodraco yeah but it just feels a bit weird not recruiting them because i'm playing golden wildfire right now and basically i've been able to recruit almost everyone
@@adriahrin3284 To my knowledge, only Ashe and Mercedes are recruitable from the Kingdom in Scarlet Blaze. I've tried finding ways to spare Ingrid and Sylvain but their deaths seem unavoidable here. The rest of the Lions are fixed as enemy units although they can be spared.
Considering how they were obligatory enemies in CF, I don't see how they will rather be spared than stay with Dimitri.

I haven't played Scarlet Blaze yet (still working through Golden Wildfire), but I hope Three Hopes makes me not hate Edelgard the way Crimson Flower did.
It's honestly great. Despite being an Edelgard fan, I've got friends that aren't big fans of her (some do have strong dislike) and they like El a whole lot better in 3Hopes because of how the story goes.
Scarlet Blaze is the Good Ending to Crimson Flower being the bad ending.

Because that's not what they're actually saying in game word for word. Hubert never orders Duke Aegir's execution outright. I changed up the text to better fit the jokes that I want to make
