Poor sound when gavaskar ji speaking. Memory fresh hui 40 years ago.
I was only 20 years old at the time. I heard running commentary on radio 📻. It was amazing victory ✌️ we all proud of 1983 world Cup team. They played magnificently. Hartley congratulations to kapildev and the team.
I was a school kid. There was no TV in my house. Had to go to a friend. But after the Indian innings got over, came home and slept. Woke up after a series of cracker burst
Wonderful memories. Only one manager, who is the administor, no coaches and they made the country proud.

I have heard most of the things said here earlier being an ardent fan of this team and Era. But what Mr. Mann said about benefit match for Mr. Govindraj adds more respect for this team and how they respected a first class cricketer. The most memorable matches in cricket are those between two largely unequal teams, where the underdogs, who were written off, who didn't stand a chance, but who nevertheless decided to fight with everything they've got, decided to make match out of it, actually manage to turn the tables on their opposition, and come out as winners on the other side. The game of cricket has seen good players, but maybe not so good sportsmen; good sportsmen, but maybe not so good players. The combination of a good player and also a good sportsman is indeed rare.

Great job 40 years back by Kapil & Team. However, I think with a movie that has come and social media, it has been an overkill on this subject. So much so that Im sure no one can share any new anecdotes on it either. Time to lower the temperature on this topic for a bit.

With due respect nothing that has been said by these greats have NOT been said before. In fact, everything has been said before and been repeated several times. It may sound harsh but I think this 1983 victory celebrations has been overdone. I don't think our 2007, 2011 or 2013 triumphs anniversaries have been celebrated by those teams. And yet, the most significant achievement for us as a nation was 15th August 1947. Apart from the customary unfurling of the tri colour and PM speech from the Red Fort, all those greats who played a significant part in achieving freedom are seldom celebrated annually.
Still people want to hear it.
