Missing those lovely days of 80's cricket matches live ON " DD" only Indian TV CHANNEL. I, am 52-years OLD. I, am sure many people in India & all over the world cricket lovers feel same way. Oz once again Pls start triangle one day series...
Remember usually we had to wake up at 4am to watch these games... although this one seems like a day night one. I have fond memories of watching Oz matches... the gulls all over the ground...
India came back with both ball and bat after lacklustre start to win the game. Kapil the game changer with wickets and Cameo. What a match winner he was in the 80's! Well done.
Before T20 cricket, before Virender Shewag, Adam Gilchrist, Shahid Afridi and Sanath Jaysurya, there was Kapil Dev with a strike rate of over 100 in some matches on those days. What a player he was.
Perhaps even better, Kapil Paaji was playing cricket in the 80s in the manner top notch German and Spanish(and now resurgent English) football clubs are playing UEFA Champions League today: Quick to intercept, High levels of field possession and Always on the attack. Kind of "Total Cricket" if KD would put it.
I still remember how excited I use to be and how I enjoyed watching Kris Srikant bat what an exciting player he was....... for Cricket during those days his kind of batting and his approach to the game were rare and were very unique
I had seen this game Live on Doordarshan after coming home from school. Still remember Philips’ injury and Tim Zohrer replacing him in the entire tournament.
I too remember watching the colour transmission, in school days we were then ....what golden days they were!! One can read "one day wonders" by Sunny G! An electrifying keeper we had too, ....highly underrated....sadanand vishwanath as well as leggie siva!!
Me too. We dint have tele at home hence we used to go to the neighbours house to watch the matches. What golden days. Even the neighbours were good and welcoming.
The commentary gods , the famous trio Richie Benaud , Bill Lawry and Tony Grieg . I think this is golden era of commentary which cannot be matched by anyone . Never Ever .
Waking up early at 5am to watch these matches was a delight . My fav batsman to watch was David Boon. He had a swag and his body language was always to dominate . Something like viv Richard’s or mathew Hayden .
And talk about the commentary, coverage and the sound of bat smacking the ball , sounds of crowd cheering n whistling and sunshine . Do u miss this . I definitely miss this and want to go back in time to enjoy these simple pleasures of a good cricket match n series . ❤❤
Used to love watching the Indians play in the 80s, especially Kapil, Srikkanth and Vengsarkar. We didn't see much of them back then, it was always either England, West Indians or New Zealand. I always wondered how Dirk Wellham got a game in one-dayers for Australia. He had no power in his shots and never seemed to middle anything. Must have had nude photos of the selectors or something.

Cricket: As explained to a foreigner... You have two sides, one out in the field and one in. Each man that's in the side that's in goes out, and when he's out he comes in and the next man goes in until he's out. When they are all out, the side that's out comes in and the side that's been in goes out and tries to get those coming in out. Sometimes you get men still in and not out. When a man goes out to go in, the men who are out try to get him out, and when he is out he goes in and the next man in goes out and goes in. There are two men called umpires who stay out all the time, and they decide when the men who are in are out. When both sides have been in and all the men have been out, and both sides have been out twice after all the men have been in, including those who are not out, that is the end of the game!
Those Gilbert and Davis blokes were very tight bowlers it seems. And yes it was the worst season of Billy the Kid's career after almost a dream debut season the previous year.
We won this match and then lost best of three finals. Lost both the first and second final. Those we’re the days. This is the first time we bought color tv 📺.
Venkatesh sir. Oka test lo Father Umpire Son player ga adithe son 99 vùnnappudu father umpire lbw out iccharu. adi eppudu ye test match telisthe cheppagalaru.
I wonder where Australian and English players bring/brought motivation from to play bilateral Odis when all they care about is ashes series and test cricket and even winning a world cup comes at 2nd place for them after ashes.I have never seen Ricky Ponting talk about his own odi career matches runs or centuries except his century in 2003 world cup final despite playing more than 350 Odis and having a wonderful odi career.
@@anweshchatterjee7595 No, this is not the reason he or any cricketer talks about their performances in international cricket especially Australian or English cricketers. For them, international cricket is mainly test cricket and white ball cricket is relevant for them only in world cups.
Who cares anyway, there have been some great series with India and Australia, just watch them, as the saying goes "Eat the mangoes, don't count the seeds "
5:00 just shows that this was another era of commentary. He would have been cancelled considering today’s PC culture. And that too commenting on Gavaskar. Imagine someone saying that about Virat or Rohit!

80s Indian cricket team was better than 90s Indian cricket team, which could be called pathetic !
Great match, sunil gavaskar, Kapil Dev, Dilip Vensargar, too many legends together 🔥🔥
Allan border , stive whagh too
India came back with both ball and bat after lacklustre start to win the game. Kapil the game changer with wickets and Cameo. What a match winner he was in the 80's! Well done.
Kapil is not only game changer... Indian country'S fate changer
Kapil Dev sure did play some beautiful cricket. I could watch him all day long. In fact, I just might do that today.
Very able cricketer and thorough gentleman.
Before T20 cricket, before Virender Shewag, Adam Gilchrist, Shahid Afridi and Sanath Jaysurya, there was Kapil Dev with a strike rate of over 100 in some matches on those days. What a player he was.
Well said.
I guess Viv Richards was there before him. But I agree, Kapil was great
What about the great Viv Richards? He used to be the ultimate destroyer of bowlers.
U guys missed Kris Srikanth
Not only in some matches...till 1991 he had an overall strike rate of 101 in odis
I was studying in 10 grade, i remember this match. While watching the match I could not control my tears, since 38 years over, sweet memories
Kapil Dev.. probably the best T20 player even before T20 came into our mind!! :) :)
Perhaps even better, Kapil Paaji was playing cricket in the 80s in the manner top notch German and Spanish(and now resurgent English) football clubs are playing UEFA Champions League today: Quick to intercept, High levels of field possession and Always on the attack. Kris Srikkanth 🤣🤣
it's Viv Richards not Kapil dev Sir
@@sunilpokhrel8904 Richards is a batsman whilst Kapil Dev is an all rounder. Can’t compare
Thank You Cricket Australia!
Those were the days of beautiful cricket unlike today's.
Kapil is the god gift for India
There are no comparison with him🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Lovely days... lovely players.. legendary commentary from Benaud... getting up at 4am to watch these games... never again those days.

I really appreciate Captains of both teams
Allan Border when he pitched in as WC role
Kapil Dev for playing Captain’s heroics with bat and ball 👌👍🫡
The commentary gods , the famous trio Richie Benaud , Bill Lawry and Tony Grieg . I think this is golden era of commentary which cannot be matched by anyone . Never Ever .

For matches held in NZ, 4 am
Vengsarkars innings was crucial .
Kapil was quintessential with his all round effort ..

Congratulations Legends that time period.
Did vengsarkar carry the smallest bat ever . Always felt this .
Very good victory over a very tough Australian side.
Used to hate watching Simon Davis . He was so damn accurate n economical.
I would always get confused when Kapil and Vengsarkar batted together wearing white helmets😂😂..both looked so similar with similar heights
Nice Chase by Indian team
Very nice video🤩🤩🤩🤩
Well captioned "Legends DOMINATE Australia-India ODI classic"
When Australia is beaten it's is more satisfying, more than Pakistan even!! Even highlights can be enjoyed innumerable times !!😂
I saw This matches during same time in TV ❤❤❤
I had seen this match live on telly. Azhar bowled 9 overs for 26 runs. I don't know why he never again tried bowling in ODIs.
Nope. He bowled 10 overs for over 40 runs.
Was busy fixing 😴
Gavaskar 50 from 97 .. tremendous half century??? Somebody had to wake him up n say this is ODI . If Kapil Dev had opened , it wud have been game changer
