- Cowboys first round pick and cornerback Byron Jones delivered a performance for the ages on Monday at the 2015 NFL Scouting Combine. In addition to bouncing his way to a 44.5-inch vertical jump, Jones recorded an astonishing 12-foot, 3-inch broad jump that set not only a combine record, but a world record as well. Now, that's performing leaps and bounds better than the competition.

Well, no offense, but every team goes through key injuries every season. That's no excuse. Seahawks had many of their key defensive players injured during the super bowl 49, and didn't make excuses. Gronkowski was injured for his first super bowl, and couldn't contribute more than a couple catches for very few yards... That's why you have more than 22 players on a roster in every game.. you have 53.. so it's not about the starters, necessarily, it's about building depth in your 2nd and 3rd string players. :) If that makes sense.

The record was held by a Norwegian shot putter set in 1968 at 12 ft 2 inches. A shot putter! Damn those guys are big and powerful. It's not done much anymore except by the NFL so it's no wonder someone from here broke it.

I see. I know now to call what he did a 'broad jump'. The guy I filmed also jumped straight up to a glass bus top roof which he made look effortless. I didn't get that on camera though. It looked like an old film were they play footage backwards to get the desired shot. Dude just magnetized upwards.

All of these raw athletic stats would indicate he's a guy that can cover Megatron, but what is his football IQ? Corners need to have short memories so they can get over a bad beat, but they need to be able to read and play leverage based on that read. Gonna be interesting to see what kind of career this young man has

He has a higher upside at corner, on top of the fact that he prefers to play corner. He'll play both corner and safety this year, but ultimately I think Dallas would like him to be their #1 corner within the next 2 or 3 seasons, and he'll stay there.
