  • Is this the BEST Beginners Haircut Tutorial in 2021? - My ATTEMPT at following a Pro UA-cam GUIDE. If I can give myself a decent haircut anyone honestly can! So... Something a little bit different for a change. With no access to a barber I thought I'd attempt cutting my own hair and do you know what, it actually turned out pretty good! I scoured UA-cam's haircutting tutorials from professional barbers and decided to follow the one I thought was best.
    If you're interested in taking a look at that video I followed please check out the link below.

    So WHO are WE? We’re Scarlett, Craig and Merlin and along with Helsing, form the PILGRIM PODS!
    If you enjoy this video why not check out some of our other content? Delve even deeper into our channel; we thought we’d create a series of vlogs chronicling the conversion of our old panel van HELSING (did you see what we did there?) into a weekend warrioring campervan for ADVENTURING and EXPLORING in the UK.
    Each vlog will cover a stage or smaller element of our campervan build, showing our ideas put into action and highlighting our SUCCESSES and FAILURES along the way. With no previous experience this may make for an interesting journey! Our plan is to convert a cheap van on a small budget without cutting corners and at the end, have a campervan to be proud of. We’re hoping you’d like to join us for this journey and that you find our uploads ENTERTAINING and even, INFORMATIVE!

    I've been cutting my own hair for the past 40 years, since a barber took a chunk out of my ear. You did as good a jib as your local would have done. See saving already for the next project.

      Ouch! There's definitely money to be saved long term but I imagine it's going to take a while before I feel truly competent cutting my own hair. I always get Scarl to go over it afterwards now just to tidy it up a little. 😀

      It's on the list of videos to make mate. 😉 With the terrible weather and what not I haven't been able to get as much done on the van as I would have liked so decided to have a play around with something a little different. 🙂🍻

    Hi Craig. I did the same. My haircuts are usually £35 plus a tip every 3 weeks. I took to cutting my own hair too, especially when I am saving about £600 a year. I’ve also started cutting friends and famililies hair too, one friend binning her hairdresser for me and my eBay scissor kit lol. Just wondering how your can build is going? I’m currently on the cabinetry, so the last push now until completion. I’ve just uploaded a couple of videoes on the build progress, I’m trying to keep them regular, although I must say the views on my van build videos are nowhere near what I get on my motorcycle reviews. I’m not after any hairdressing tips, but if you have some advice on growing my channel that would be appreciated. Love the outtakes too... ‘nooo’ 😂

      Hey Toni, that van of yours is looking great! Yeah, cutting your own hair is definitely the way forward although I do need lots of practice! I've cut my hair twice since this video and find it helps to have Scarl go over it again after me to tidy it up but I'm getting better! £600 is a lot of saved money and for me, I like that I don't have to take a trip to get a cut now. Advice from me? I really don't know... Regular content is key but I don't have time for that, I have too many other things pulling my attention. But if I did release more frequent content I have no doubt the channel would be quite a bit larger than it is now. I think I kinda got lucky in that I've taken an old beaten up cheap van and am slowly turning it into a camper which I think is the hook for us. People definitely started paying more attention after the painting video that's for sure. Another thing I 'try' and do is make my videos less vloggy and more informative. Nowadays I give a good final edit to cut all the fat from the video as nobody wants to see me waffle. I did a lot of research when starting out and for niche channels like a campervan build the key to success is definitely determination. It's a marathon for most and not a sprint and so many give up because of slow growth. My channel is tiny but what gives me hope is I've seen some big names in the genre start out small and then snowball but it has taken them a good couple of years or so. Hardest bit for me was getting those first 1k subscribers. Initially I would post my videos to Facebook groups to try and drive traffic but everyone does that and most folk find it annoying which I get as it's kinda self serving. It helped my channel a bit but not loads according to my analytics. Nowadays if someone has a question on there and I think a video of mine would genuinely help I post a photo of what I've done along with the video link if they're interested in finding out more. That generates a trickle of views and helped a bit getting that first 1k on board. To be honest nowadays I just let the channel do its thing. If people become interested that's absolutely great and appreciated. Once the build is complete and we've filmed our maiden voyage I might call time anyway as it takes me a lot of time to put the videos together and whilst I enjoy it I enjoy other things more. Hope my waffle helps you in some way. 🙂🍻

    Blimy....that's what I call getting stuck in. I've been doing my own for year. Put the number 1 comb (the shortest one) and go in every direction you can for 15 mins, feeling for missed bit as you go...sorted! Can your Mrs not help you out? Like you pointed out, saves a packet too! Whens the next van vid? Not done anything on mine for 2 weeks...bloody weathers buggered that up! Regards Mick

    • @PilgrimPods
      @PilgrimPods  3 роки тому

      Hey Mick, at one point I thought I'd be busting the number one out and following your technique! I've trimmed my hair since originally cutting it all off and Scarl tidied it up for me where necessary afterwards. £15 for the clippers, two haircuts, I'm now a fiver up! 😀🍻 I'm in the same boat as you, weather has been so bad I've not had chance to do much the last week or so; it's the only reason I decided to put this video together... Currently framing the window and doing a little bit of cladding around it before tackling the headboard for the bed. Looks pretty good so far but I do wonder if I would have been better off just carpeting and save myself some time and weight in the van. Hopefully the weather should improve for us both as the week ticks along! 🙂👍

      @@PilgrimPods Had mine for nearly 10 years, so saved a packet. A few drops of 3 in 1 on the blades really helps, just wipe of any excess. I'm just finishing off the back doors in T and G, went outside, did 45 mins and the rain started again 😡 The side door is next and framing around the window...I can't remember what one you have in the door? I've just got a tinted with a slider. It's the only window I've got with one 400x 400 rooflight. I want it as stealthy as poss, as will probably end up parking in side streets sometimes. It's gonna end up pretty much like Em and Lou campervibe...do you watch them? They are just so funny, really look forward to their vlogs....and yours of course mate! 😉

      @@michealgillman7418 I'll bear in mind the 3in1 thanks! It's all the stop starting with the weather that's doing my head in too. I've just knocked it on the head until we get some proper dry days and focused on some odd jobs around the house instead. Our side loading door has a tinted slider too. If I did another build I'd consider going the stealth route as well with how the UK is heading. We watch the girls weekly too and as you say, they're a right barrel of laughs. Our favourites at the moment though are arguably Snow and Curt as they're actually out there travelling and we find it fascinating seeing their journey through South America.

      @@PilgrimPods South America...I will check them out, thanks. Yes, things are going in the wrong direction for van lovers...had my t5 for nearly 10 years and it was just to small, also I needed something I could stand up in. Well the sun 🌞 (that big orange thing in the sky) came out and I finished the back doors, also the top 3 on the side door....now the window....just sitting looking at it, at the moment and 🤔 I really don't know what to do, to make it look half reasonable. Any suggestions greatly appreciated 👌

      @@michealgillman7418 can't remember the last truly productive day I had on the van. I've had a window frame sat in my kitchen for a week now! SLD I'll probably try and replicate the window frame and cladding as on the opposing wall but we'll see. I'm going to sort the door finishes off next as well before tackling the top cupboards. Do I follow you on anything like Instagram?
