Windows were always on our checklist of items for our campervan. But what type would we get bonded or caravan style? Watch this video to find out!
So WHO are WE? We’re Scarlett, Craig and Merlin and along with Helsing, form the PILGRIM PODS!
If you enjoy this video why not check out some of our other content? Delve even deeper into our channel; we thought we’d create a series of vlogs chronicling the conversion of our old panel van HELSING (did you see what we did there?) into a weekend warrioring campervan for ADVENTURING and EXPLORING in the UK.
Each vlog will cover a stage or smaller element of our campervan build, showing our ideas put into action and highlighting our SUCCESSES and FAILURES along the way. With no previous experience this may make for an interesting journey! Our plan is to convert a cheap van on a small budget without cutting corners and at the end, have a campervan to be proud of. We’re hoping you’d like to join us for this journey and that you find our uploads ENTERTAINING and even, INFORMATIVE!
So, in this vlog we'll be installing bonded windows to our campervan Helsing following advice and tips researched online. Were they easy to install or did we face any problems!?

Mate you're videos are awesome. Thanks for being so bare bones and real. So many videos out there filled with fluff and tools with unrealistic price tags.
Respect to you!
Thanks bud, I try!
Great job so far 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
I'm a new subscriber. Love how you keep the contact clear and simple. Best wishes from a Peugeot Boxer van owner👍
Hey Christopher, thanks for checking us out and deciding to stick around for a bit. It's pleasing to hear our style of content is being well received as all we're trying to do is make the videos we would have liked to have seen when originally doing our own research. Nice choice of van, we couldn't decide whether to go L2, L3 or L4 and if not for our L2 popping up for sale so cheap we probably would have went bigger.
Great stuff, i love watching you vids, (better than the telly). Keep up the great work and God bless you all.
Got mine on back order with VanPimps. Can't wait to get them and install 🙏☺️
Great video thank you - Put in my 1st rear window today on my Fiat Ducato!
Hope it all went well mate.
Great channel this Craig, nice and simple amd easy to understand 👌
Cheers Keith. 🍻 I appreciate that mate. 👍🙂
Nice job guys 😁😁😁. Glad your sorted , with perseverance and great customer service 👍👍👍👍💙❤️💙❤️
Cheers mate! You and Bri seem to be getting on like a house on fire of late! 😁🙌💙❤
Cracking job, looks great! I think fitting the windows in mine was the scariest part of the whole thing.
I genuinely think it'll be the worst part of the build with regards to stress. Rooflights in today, hopefully tidy up the bumpers and trim in the week and finally, finally we can start on the interior. 😊👍💙❤
They all look amazing! The vans colour and windows look brilliant together! Good to hear Just Kampers are a good company! Will use them when I eventually find a van!
It's coming together! 🙌 We can't recommend Just Kampers enough. We bought some of the windows as part of a package deal and at the time of purchase the value was unmatched by any of the other big name window companies. Definitely check them out when you get your van, they might have what you're looking for at a great price. They did for us anyway! 😊
Just re-watched your video, much help! Got to install mine this weekend. 😬 Cheers!
If it's something new to you definitely check out the Kiravans video, it's probably the best guide I've personally found. Good luck mate! 🙂👍
@@PilgrimPods thanks! Will do!
I got a rear door window exactly the same ! Great content cheers!
Thanks! 🙂🙌 We're sorry you also had a duff window but it does offer us a little comfort as when fitting ours we thought the issue was of our own doing. We hadn't came across a video before highlighting this issue and a search online doesn't return much either... 🙄
Happened to mine too! Same window, same place but the glass isn't shaped to the panel. Bloody nightmare lol
Thanks for sharing, take care my friend 😊
Thanks a lot. 😊👍
New subscriber here! Keep up the good work!
Cheers Bruce. Really appreciate the support and you taking the time to check out our little channel. 😊💙❤
Great video x
Thanks guys! 😊👍💙❤
Wow that's really ambitious. I've seen people tackle one or two but you've done the whole van. This is one job I just don't wanna do, I've watched it done so many times but I know I'll mess it up or I'll do everything right and then either like you have, I'll find I have a dodgy window or I'll notice a big crack while the adhesive is curing. If the DVLA rules hadn't changed I'd be happy with the one window I have on the side and leave it at that but as it is, I'll go with the smallest plastic campervan window I can find.
Admittedly it wasn't a job we were looking forward to either but trying to do things on the cheap we didn't want to pay someone else to do it for us! 😁 Like you, we'd researched the process so felt prepared but even so it was a little unnerving cutting holes out of the van. 😬 Like you, we're only going with the second window on the one side to satisfy the DVLA requirement. Not that we're that bothered about the van being reclassified. 😊
Mr Pilgrim Pods. I too have hand painted my van and I have a window ready to go. My only concern is that the hand rolled paint isn't as strong as the vans original colour. I'm wondering if bonding the window to this second layer of paint could end up with the bonding agent and weight of the window falling off the van as it's only attached to the new paint, as opposed to the original white spray paint. Did you consider this at all? Any issues found? Maybe it isn't an issue...
Loving the Star Wars shirts in both your videos I have watched so far. I also have lots of different Star Wars shirts. A nerd from another bird!!! BTW - did I see a rear camera in your previous video? If so do you have a link to it please?
The Force is strong with you! 😁 The reversing camera was off eBay. It was a Chinese one, the cheapest one of its style on there. I think we paid about £25 for it at the time.
nice video. I was curious where you bought your window glass, and what type it is? we are trying to do some windows on a tight budget and are trying to figure out where to get them. (we're in europe)
The windows were purchased from Just Kampers in the UK. They had an offer on them hence us going with the sliders. Best of luck with your own build! 😊🙌
@@PilgrimPods thanks!
The factor glass is curved
maybe a silly question but how do you know what size to cut out please?
i’ve just bought windows from just kampers but got no template
On our van there is the outer skin of metal but on the inside there is a second skin which ends in a lip. It's just a simple case of following the edge of the lip with the drill to make a 'dot to dot' for the jigsaw to follow. If you look closely in the video you should be able to see exactly what I mean. If you're fitting them yourselves I highly recommend watching my video on fixing leaking bonded windows to help avoid any pitfalls, and also in that video down in the description there is a link to a video which I honestly believe to be the best instructional window fitting guide on the whole of UA-cam. Hope that helps. 🙂👍
@@PilgrimPods thanks i’ve put 2 in and 2 portholes
just one more to do on the other side.
Your videos are very helpful
Once you cut out the window hole and painted up the edges, did you install a rubber trim or something? What product did you use? Really enjoying the series!
You've got it, we used 'automotive rubber trim' which came with the windows. Just whack it on with a mallet. Get your Google-Fu on and you'll see you can get the stuff from loads of places. Thanks for watching the videos, we really appreciate it. 🙂👍
stay safe an well m8
You too chap! 😊👍
use this stuff www.halfords.com/motoring/car-cleaning/car-wax/carplan-black-trim-wax-375ml-440917.html on your bumpers its awesome it will make your bumpers great again
Cheers Daz. Our bumpers are grey but we do want them to be black so might go the Halfords route with their black bumper spray. Apparently it doesn't need to be primed first. 🙂👍
@@PilgrimPods i used that stuff om a scooter the plastic was completely gray and faded i was shocked how well it worked the scooter looked new after and 12 mouths later still looks has good its more like a dye than a wax well worth a try
@@daz2.058 I'll be sure to take a closer look in that case. 😁👍
