I've finally got this video published! To say that this was a bitch is an under statement: from the difficulty in extracting the GPS information from the video files, to the editing, to publishing this video (which took nearly a month). All of this made publishing this video at 1:15AM (Eastern Standard Time - UTC-5), February, 25, 2019 all the while worth it. I still have several more videos to come. I am undecided about releasing this trip in real-time, so please leave me comments about which parts, if any, you think I should publish in real-time.
@@josephsolomon2216 Yes, I did the drove across Newfoundland separately, because it was cheaper to fly there and drive across the island and back in a rental car than to drive up there and take the long and expensive ferry across.
so FUN FACT: you dont actually go into DC anymore when you cross the bridge. When they rebuilt the bridge a decade ago, they moved it downstream so it is no longer going into DC.
@@tyrone6481 actually no.. it's about 300 ft or so in DC, but yes to most travellers it's basically a moot point.. you basically cross from Virginia to Maryland or vice versa..
@@jamesreynolds5776 you have schooled me sir. I had always assumed that since DC police no longer handle traffic incident on the bridge that it had moved completely out of the jurisdiction since only a small part of the old bridge was in DC anyway. So thanks for pointing that out to me. I've since seen what you are talking about with that tenth of a mile or whatever 🤣🤣🤣
I did that when he drove through Iowa on I-80. I've driven that from Des Moines to Davenport 1000 times. It's been many years, so I enjoyed playing that real time.
@@unclecoolie Dude...would you be kind enough to put time stamps wherever atlantic ocean is visible in the video...also when will you upload St. johns and till Maine in real-time? .....I love you man..with all the work you've done..deserve a million more subscribers
@@aman180693 The time stamps would take a lot of time, and I'm not sure that the ocean is ever visible in this video until you get to FL. I will upload the rest of the trip in real time at some point. I still have a lot of video left to upload.
As an european(italian), I really loved everything about this trip...the roads, the landscapes, there's nothing that is not amazing about this country. Hopefully one day I'll be able to travel across the U.S. too.
@@unclecoolie wow italians have gone literally everywhere 😅, by the way, once covid is gone, i'm happy you'll visit Italy! And if I am lucky I can do the same with the US.
WoW! you guys literally did the entire east coast of North America, United states and Canada! From Newfoundland to Florida and everything In between! Cool stuff! :)
yes this person is incredible his trips are incredible so much information where you are passing now I have not seen on any channel I love trips in real time to turn on the radio or music and enjoy
@@unclecoolie this was great! i added my music too it! florida is magical! especially during winter months! I cant stand NY anymore. I wanna retire and just travel! how many days did you stay in the keys for??
@@antoniocognato5023 I love Florida, too, at least in the wintertime. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to stay in Key West. I had to drive up to St. Petersburg that same afternoon (which will be shown in a future video).
Thank you very much! It was an arduous process, indeed. I spent more than three weeks trying to get it uploaded AND rendered fully at 1080p. Several times I had uploaded it only to have it stuck in 360p. Also, early on, I had a lot of issues extracting the GPS information from the raw videos. Fortunately, I got 99% extracted (there's a small section in Nova Scotia that's missing GPS information).
😊 I've been waiting for the last month alone, just trying to get this video published. Several times I attempted to upload this video and it either crashed during upload, or would only upload to 360p.
@@unclecoolie Well, I, for one, appreciate the effort! I've watched several times now. If you decide to excerpt portions of the trip, could you maybe do the Monroe County/Florida Keys part and label each key when you cross into it? I know that's a big request, but it's my favorite part of the whole video, and I've watched that part of it several times.

I want to apologize because I think I have to and because I feel really bad about this. Today, august the 8th 2019, I want to say sorry: I watched the whole video...
I've just discovered these videos. I basically use them as my screen saver at work. Thank you so much for this. As a geography nerd these videos have been so much fun to watch.
Thanks for posting yet another awesome road trip video! This one was special to me because I know I-95 all to well. Rode this route every year for as long as I can remember up to my college years, then drove it twice, once in 14, and again in 16. The old man and I are planning another trip to the Daytona 500 next year so I'll be doing it again soon!
Thank you! I'm very familiar with I-95 myself, which is the main reason why I chose to drove almost the whole route of it. Part of me wishes that I did US-1 instead, though. I might do US-1 at some point, at least part of the way.
5 hours into the video, and the biggest surprise so far is the amount of traffic in Newfoundland. Not that there was a lot of traffic, but I was expecting it to be more remote once you got away from St. John's. There always seemed to be other cars around throughout Newfoundland, unlike northern Maine.
Yeah, it was funny to see that there is actually a town there called Dildo. It would be even funnier to mail a package to someone in that town from the States to see if the postal workers would consider that this is a joke.
While in Maryland, you passed by Ripken Stadium in Aberdeen, Oriole Park at Camden Yard and Ravens Stadium in Baltimore. Further south in P. G. County you passed over Good Luck Rd and MD RT 450 in Lanham where I used to live. In Richmond, VA you passed by The Diamond where the Richmond Flying Squirrels play.
This video for some reason just brings back so many memories from the road trips its weird how I love just starring at the road and outside for hours at end until we get to the beach lol
These videos are great. I've had them up all week during the great quarantining of 2020, love checking in every now and then to see how far you've gotten. Thanks a lot!
Its nice to see some stretches of road that I personally recognize lol, having lived across the east coast almost all my life + visiting some of it. I'm pretty certain I've been on the entirity of I-95 throughout my life, having lived in North Carolina, Virginia and currently living in New Hampshire, I've visited all the states from Maine to Florida as well as visiting the maritime provinces of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edwards Island (I have not seen Newfoundland yet)
Love these videos! I wish there was a game that was the entire United States where you can drive around in super realistic graphics. I would definitely recreate some of your videos haha. Great video as always! :D
I've been waiting for this for ages! I've never been to the USA ever but this video is so cool I want to go there one day. Edit: Maybe you could do a southern US road trip from Los Angeles to Key West, or vice versa, driving through California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida. It's just a suggestion for the future.
despite the huge amount of quality content on UA-cam, there's a reason why I subscribed only to Unclecoolie. His videos are way too good to be missed. Greetings from Romania, Europe.
@@unclecoolie There are two tunnels through Baltimore. The original one is the Harbor Tunnel Thruway on renamed I-895. That was the only way through Baltimore prior to the Fort McHenry Tunnel.
It took me about 5 days, but I did it! I watched the whole road trip! I have been to most of these areas but not as a straight drive. This trip is on my bucket list. St. John's to Key West. Thank you for making this video. The best road trip video. I actually felt that I was in the car. The sight view was spectacular!
This is very well done, honestly! Also the descriptions about which area you are driving through are so useful. I really miss that on all the other drving videos on UA-cam. I'm from Germany and I just like to check up all those places on a map/street view/google while "sitting on the virtual passenger seat"; it's just inspiring and even more fun😁 So thank you so much for this video which I'm sure caused a HUGE amount of work.
This is a great adventure… I totally relate to this trip which I did at least 3 times… But yours is more complete - I didn’t start in St. John… So much to see, visit and so little time...
On this trip, I understand there have to be SOME speed limits. As a german, when i watched you cross the great plains...open straight flat road, nice weather...doing 75 or maybe 85mph...I fell asleep in sympathy with the driver! Anyway, i like these videos. I call them "road Trips in a bugatti world"
@@AVeryRandomPerson I have videos uploaded that cover a whole trip from Key West to St. John's, done over different trips: Key West to St Petersburg, FL St Petersburg, FL to Maryville, TN Knoxville, TN to Dulles, VA Herndon, VA to St. John's, NL
Good to see New Brunswick has expressways now. When I drove from New York to Prince Edward Island in 1997, New Brunswick only had 2 lane highways, with few passing areas, and I was constantly stuck behind RV's.

you guys should do the same on the west coast, say from Anchorage, Alaska to San Diego, California. Or better yet, go all of the way to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico! :)
I haven't even started watching the video, yet just by reading the timestamps in the description (not the paragraphs after) I knew this is I-95, the highway I traveled several times to get to my college and back...
Saw my old office when I lived in Miami and was just a mile from our old home in cutler bay. I was still living there at the time this was filmed. Brought back nightmares of my two hour commute to go 10 miles every day
love it!! crazy high quality, super calming background, totally bomb-ass editing! your hard work is apparent (twelve whole hours of content!!) thank you for sharing :))
Thanks a lot! I did spend a lot of time editing this video in particular: first I had issues retrieving the GPS data (I managed to get 99% of it), then I had issues uploading this as the video would not process beyond 360p, which looks awful.
Lol. No, I had to bring the rental car that I was driving back to the airport to catch my flight home early that afternoon, which is why I left Channel-Port aux Basques at such an early hour that day.
Hi Uncle Coolie! Your video was the only good thing in a gloomy Monday! I know you had a hard of it to upload your new journey. Please, let me know if you will turn it in real time journeys! West coast is fabulous, I'm longer to "drive" for hours long on East coast, which must be such a great trip! Once again, I enjoy so much your videos, thank you!
Thank you! Yes, this video was difficult in many ways. First I had issues extracting the GPS information, and then the issues of uploading the video and have it properly rendered. I was really happy to see that "HD" symbol next to it late last night. I haven't planned on releasing the whole trip in real-time, but I plan to do some parts in real-time, such as driving from Boston to DC, and south Florida, including the Keys. I am interested to know if people would like to see most if not all of this trip in real-time, though. Let me know if you vote yes on that. 😊
To tell the truth, Uncle Coolie, I dream of having all of you trip, as you did for West coast and coast to coast. But as you do the job, how could I be demanding?...well, anyway, couldn't you take your time and do it little by little? Anyhow I carry on being your loyal follower😊👍
Sometimes while on a highway, I'll take notice of license plates indicating other vehicles' distant origins. In New York, I'd say at least 65% of license plates are from NY and surrounding states of NJ, CT; less than 10% from PA, MA and OH; and not that many from places like NM or Arkansas. After watching this video it can be interesting to realize there's a reasonably good chance any of these vehicles may be crossing 150 counties across the U.S. and Canada within 10 hours of my encountering them. I'd love to see a video like this driving from Paris to NYC by way of Warsaw and Moscow, crossing the Bearing Straight into AK, through Canada, then Chicago, NJ, finally NYC.
Props to you for being able to do this trip. Considering how much traffic you probably had to deal with from north of Boston to maybe south of Richmond, taking I-95 most of the way, incredible. Some of the commenters say you should have taken more of US 1. A driver would need a lot more time using US 1. Way to many stretches where it's just a two lane road, or you have to drive slowly through a lot of small towns and a few really big cities.
Thanks! In general, traffic wasn't bad - just a little thick passing through NYC, Jacksonville, and little south of Ft. Lauderdale. I was seriously considering taking US-1 all the way down. Time, or lack of, was the main reason why I just stayed on I-95. I'd wanted to do a complete I-95 anyway, but I also want to do a complete US-1 drive. So, I think I'll do a US-1 road trip at some point, at least part of the way. I live in the DC area, so I have easy access to US-1.
This is cool! You passed right through my hometown of Burlington, MA. Also, I noticed that (from the inspection stickers) that you were in MA registered cars from Nova Scotia on (though a change in sticker after DC).
Good eye! The car that drove from Nova Scotia back to Virginia was a rental that I picked up at Dulles Airport, and I believe that it had Massachusetts plates. I'm pretty sure that the Volvo that I drove (also rented at Dulles Airport) had Massachusetts plates, too.
Finally, new locations. The pros of these long videos is that they give me hours of content to watch, and i usually watch a reasonable 2-3 hours in a day, so it takes nearly a week to finish it considaring there might be days when i don't have much time near the computer. And this is just one vide. So it doesn't feel like a really long time has passed since your latest upload, although this one took some took it's toll on you for sure (editing hell). I hope you can cover some more areas in the U.S & Canada (maybe Mexico) but this is already way more than most other channels i found. And the layout is also very clean ,informative and not in the way. The realtime elevation displayer is very uniqe and something i've never seen anywhere else on yt.(and it's in metric, simply awesome) For a geography nerd like me, knowing the elevation is a key information for "mapping the terrain in my head" and colored maps just aren't this precise. Anyway do you know any other channels with long car trips like yours? And a little off topic: Is it expensive to rent a car in the U.S? And how does it work? You just leave it someplace after you finished and people will come to get it how? Might be very stupid question but i never rented a car before, and as a european folk, if I ever travel to there, it's just not an option to "ship" my car to the continent.
Thank you! Yes, this video took extra long to edit due to the fact that I had a hard time extracting the GPS information for the raw videos. I got nearly all of it, at least. It also took several weeks to get the video uploaded and properly processed to 1080p. I had so many uploads get stuck at 360p, which is an issue for several creators, it seems. I have two more road trips that I did last year that I have yet to upload - one is in the southeast U.S., and the other goes up into Canada. I haven't had the chance to do a drive in Mexico yet. When I did my west coast drive, I'd wanted to start it in Tijuana, but the border-crossing times were too long. I also have a shorter road trip in southern Germany that I will upload eventually, as well. I know there's an older channel called barbiepoledancer that also has some nice road trips. There's isn't much that's really new on there (that I know of) other than a road trip down to Cabo San Lucas, which I haven't had time to watch yet. Looks like a nice road trip video.
@@unclecoolie Thanks for the tip. And you have some footage from europe too? Well i guess i have to find a way to double subscribe to you now. Also i asked about car rentals in the us, what can you tell me about that?
@@kormosmate2 Yes, I will upload the German road trip eventually. The rental cars are mostly the same with regards to costs and requirements. I think anyone with a valid driver's license can rent one, and the mileage is almost always free. Typically, it may cost about $40-$50 per day if you don't get the extra insurance, and if you return it back to the same location that you picked it up from. Or, it's more expensive to drop it off from a different location - usually about double the price.
Point Mugu and then Key West! You drove by where i used to live in Key West; Some familiar routes along 1 such as Big Pine Key - don't hit the Key Deer!
I really really love your videos man GPS is easy to follow to please keep them coming and the Real Time ones are cool to enough time to take in all the scenery without leaving home.
My wife and I did this trip but didn't use interstates. I thought we'd really get to see each town's uniqueness but instead we just saw everyone's walmarts, subways, and check cashing places. Still a great trip. After you cross the mason dixon line it's hard to find vegetables at restaurants.
Don’t ask why I was bored

I've finally got this video published! To say that this was a bitch is an under statement: from the difficulty in extracting the GPS information from the video files, to the editing, to publishing this video (which took nearly a month). All of this made publishing this video at 1:15AM (Eastern Standard Time - UTC-5), February, 25, 2019 all the while worth it. I still have several more videos to come. That 2 seconds in DC makes me laugh every time I cross the Wilson Bridge. Welcome to Washington...Welcome to Maryland.
so FUN FACT: you dont actually go into DC anymore when you cross the bridge.

@@unclecoolie Well, I, for one, appreciate the effort! I've watched several times now. If you decide to excerpt portions of the trip, could you maybe do the Monroe County/Florida Keys part and label each key when you cross into it?
I think that it's because the highway that I took is the only road that crosses Newfoundland.
I was so excited when you got to Richmond,Va and i saw two of my company semis, but this is such an awesome video of the I-95 corridor, great job.
Thank you!

12. NeedtoBreathe - Forever on Your Side EP
13. Blanca - Shattered
14. Chevelle Franklyn - Joy
15. Papa San - My Story or Journey (Depending on Mood, usually don't finish second album by end of video)
Note the change of musical style from Canadian-born artists to Reggae artists to reflect the different places that are traveled through on this trip.
you guys should do the same on the west coast, say from Anchorage, Alaska to San Diego, California. Or better yet, go all of the way to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico! :)
I have done San Diego to Vancouver already. I eventually want to go up to Alaska.
Here is some highlights:
4:58:01 - Someone got pulled over
5:00:00 - Kittentown
I haven't even started watching the video, yet just by reading the timestamps in the description (not the paragraphs after) I knew this is I-95, the highway I traveled several times to get to my college and back...
I am now hooked on these, fantastic.
Thank you! I have many more videos to come, including the real-time versions of this trip.
Saw my old office when I lived in Miami and was just a mile from our old home in cutler bay. I was still living there at the time this was filmed. Brought back nightmares of my two hour commute to go 10 miles every day
I live in the DC area, so I understand the long commute nightmare all too well.
love it!! crazy high quality, super calming background, totally bomb-ass editing! your hard work is apparent (twelve whole hours of content!!) thank you for sharing :))
Thanks a lot! I did spend a lot of time editing this video in particular: first I had issues retrieving the GPS data (I managed to get 99% of it), then I had issues uploading this as the video would not process beyond 360p, which looks awful.
For the end i expected to see a dead way with a sign that said "end of the road"
@@melvillebartleby6285 I appreciate that! 😃
I moved from palm bay/Melbourne fl area to the Bangor, me area and seeing you stop in both areas and me recognizing the roads was something else.
Wow. That's a big difference in climate, at least this time of the year.
🎶Now that interstate is paved with memories🎶
It's the one interstate that I've been on more than any other in the country.
damn while you were in my state i was doing something else and you were driving
I truly would have loved to have seen the entiretey of this trip!
That would be a great video!
Awesome road trip. All we need is some awesome traveling music. Ride like the wind.
If I didn't have issues using copyrighted music, I would've used it.
Yup, the Bronx is super congested. Just like how I'm used to it! :)
I don't know when I'm going to have enough time. But I will watch everything. Thank you. The US is a bit far from me (Spain) :)
Oh, thank you! I would love to do a road trip video there one day.
Unclecoolie Productions i did a small road trip there only 224km but it was nice
@@unclecoolie Even East Coast has tsunamis
I’ve been to the pit stop at 4:39:23 and I live sort of nearby! It’s so weird seeing someplace I know pretty well here.
Cool. I have some relatives who don't live all that far from there.
Interesting to see the Massachusetts inspection sticker
Yep. The video between Sydney, NS and Franconia, VA was done in a car that I rented from Dulles Airport that had MA license plates.
Norwalk, CT Checking In.............You caught our moment of light Traffic.....
Congrats for the video! Amazing record! Many thanks! I expect to do the same sooner in other ways into USA
Thank you!
5:55:56-5:56:39 that’s my town! (Stratford,CT) 5:56:14 is also my exit
Exit 32:West Broad St
Stratford
Cool.
Is it 11PM? Yes.
Do I will watch the entire video? Yes.
😊
You inspired me to do long road trips.
I'll be driving from Middlesex County, MA near Boston to Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island Tomorrow
-ö-
-Can I ust get it?8-
Newfoundland is huge. It takes longer to drive from New York to St. John’s than it does New York to Miami.
Yes, it took some 9 hours to drive across that island.
I will release at some parts of this trip in real-time, but I want to mix it up and work on some other videos that I still haven't published yet.
My wife and I did this trip but didn't use interstates. I thought we'd really get to see each town's uniqueness but instead we just saw everyone's walmarts, subways, and check cashing places. Still a great trip. After you cross the mason dixon line it's hard to find vegetables at restaurants.
Part of me wanted to drive the entirety of US-1. It was due to time why I chose I-95 instead.
