I miss the days when I was young hearing this . My mother listened to Paul every day at noon , that’s how you knew it was lunchtime. I was 10 at the time , 52 years ago . I long for those days ! Simpler times !
We never understand when we're young just how good we have it. I always had plenty of chores to do. And I always felt the goodness of sore muscles and accomplishment. It felt odd or wrong not to be contributing to our family unite. Our parents didn't need to praise us or to beg us to do our chores our reward was eating fresh garden vegetables and orchard fruit that we helped to grow. Feeling the warmth and smelling the fragrance of a fire in our fire place. I cut and split wood and carried and stacked it a multitude of other things. My muscles grew stronger and so did my self respect. And today I don't ask or want or need anything that God doesn't want me to have.
God I miss Paul Harvey.We used to listen to him on the radio while taking lunch in the company truck.3 or 4 guys with not much more than their occupation in common all huddled around the AM radio in a van full of tools and materials. No one ever said a word or seemed to even consider interrupting the words of wisdom coming thru the lone paper speaker. All these comments are great , and have one thing in common . Work stopped , whatever you were doing stopped , to eat , rest , replenish and be educated , and respect that allotted time . Same thing at my house growing up on Sundays . It was church where my dad preached , Sunday dinner where you showed up hungry , but you kept your mouth shut until thanks was given , without a hat on your head , gauges in your ears or hooks in your nose and tattoos up n down your neck and arms . It’s scary how this gets more and more true every day. Today is 9/11/2020 and I was stuck 3 times on my way home in the middle of rioters blocking the roads, burning dumpsters, destroying anything they could get their hands on. We are quickly reaching a boiling point. I pray that we find a way to peacefully move through the coming days ahead. 19 years ago today, our differences didn’t matter. We didn’t have hyphens. I totally agree with you. It’s been going on for much longer...in stages...stretching the boundaries of what we can get away with...while increasing our pay in the process...and doing less, complimenting ourselves that we are working smarter and not harder. I’ve never seen a cooking pot clean itself, I’ve used soap and water to clean it but I’ve always had to use elbow grease to make it shine.

We never understand when we're young just how good we have it. I always had plenty of chores to do. And I always felt the goodness of sore muscles and accomplishment. It felt odd or wrong not to be contributing to our family unite. Our parents didn't need to praise us or to beg us to do our chores our reward was eating fresh garden vegetables and orchard fruit that we helped to grow. Feeling the warmth and smelling the fragrance of a fire in our fire place. I cut and split wood and carried and stacked it a multitude of other things. My muscles grew stronger and so did my self respect. And today I don't ask or want or need anything that God doesn't want me to have.

Same thing at my house growing up on Sundays . Could the "sixth month" of verse 26 be Adar, the sixth month of the Jewish Civil Year Calendar? And date verses 26-38 happening just before or on the eve of Purim in the month of Adar or in Adar II if it was a Leap Year and Purim is moved to the 2nd 6th month. Which keeps it a pregnancy away from Kislev 25th the 1st day of Hanukkah,another Jewish Holiday illegal for Romans.

For R.G. Vance, Old but worthwhile words from a man I remember from my childhood and into adulthood. My Great Granddad listened to him everyday at noon when he come out from his chores on the farm for lunch and coffee. I remember this voice and words coming out that big magic box, a radio.
Used to sleep in my dads car at night so i could listen to Paul Harvey on the old am radio..Was a truthful, great guy.
This should be on every TV channel every day.
Paul Harvey is a modern Patrick Henry, who used his voice, rather than the written word. Can anyone disagree, that they can honestly read this, in Paul Harvey's voice:
"What is it that gentlemen wish? What would they have? Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? Forbid it, Almighty God! I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death!"
Thank you! While we remember Patrick Henry for the last 7 words of it, it's the eloquence of his whole speech that sets the stage and backdrop for the power of those final words. They remain as powerful and inspiring today, as they were then.
I loved listening to him as a child and young man. God bless his soul.

I'm amazed that he was speaking all those years ago but it was as if he were speaking today about what's going on around us in the States
I just forwarded it to my dad because he loved this man. I remember him but I was still kind a young and didn't listen to him a lot. I guess I was more into music And things like that. But I think I'm going to start searching for more Paul Harvey story telling events if you will

I loved to hear Paul. Every day he informed me and put a smile on my face.
