    I saw a reference to "bullet journal" in a minimalism video today so I checked it out and am grateful to have landed on this video series. The thought occurred to me that this system is similar in concept to the Franklin Planner that I used in the 80's when I was in sales, except this is a DIY instead of buying all the components. I'm contemplating giving this a try while I'm continuing to pare down possessions using the KonMari method and working toward zero (or better than I'm doing now) waste. I'm watching the videos in order and, thus far, this is my favorite video.

    Oh my goodness - I just can't even express how much I'm enjoying this series (and all your other videos too). It's really helping me to gather my thoughts and figure out what I want for the journal I'm about to begin. Thanks sooo much for sharing your time and expertise with us. Also -- I'm VERY intrigued by your capsule wardrobe. Hope you talk more about that.

    Can't wait for the next video. So excited! I've tried to start my BUJO since July and just get blocked trying to figure it out how to make it pretty and not screw it up. I'm an avid procrastinator, so this is my reason to start a BUJO. It seems to me that this minimalist method would be the best one for now and improve the prettiness later. Thank you so much for the guide.

    I've been bullet journaling for about eight months now and watching this really helped me simplify my spreads and also you've reminded me what bullet journals are all about - the daily tasks! I've got so caught up in logging everything at the end of the day that I've forgotten I started this to help me achieve more each day. I've now redesigned my weekly spreads for next week to trial run this. I'm going to try to us my journal in the morning as well to plan the day. Even though this may seem like the focus of bullet journaling but I have somehow managed to lose this as I've personalised my process. I have so many logging spreads for each week and month, it takes me a long time to get ready for the next month! Thank you for this reminder and boost!! ❤️

    I've been bullet journaling since the beginning of this year (thanks to stumbling across your blog and channel in December!), but I still found this incredibly helpful - especially for someone who feels like they have to have a really prettily decorated BuJo but not necessarily the time to do all that. Thanks for sharing, I can't wait to see the rest of the series (or more on that capsule wardrobe!)

    Thank you so much for this video series about Bullet Journal. I have tried the DIYFish inserts and though they are great, I found that they are not as good a fit as I thought they would be. That's why I'm thinking about starting a bullet journal for next year. There are several things I really like about it, like its affordability and minimalist approach and the fact that there is very little waste of pages, if at all. I look forward to the next video in the series! Thanks :)

    I have to tell say that because of you, I've been trying to bullet journal, doing what you said about trying it out on a trial basis. Mine started in September and so far I can already see what I can do to make it my own. I have tried before and they were failures in a big way. I got frustrated. Having watching your post and videos, I feel when my dollar store spiral notebook is done, I can either make my own books or invest in a better quality one like the Lechiturn 1917. (Sorry if I spelled it wrong.). Again thank you so much.

    I ran across your videos about a month ago and I have to say compared to all the other bullet journal videos yours is the most satisfying to watch due to the nice lay out and the inspiring hand writing. I have been using the personal planner this year but found out I did waste a lot of space with my uneventful life. Your 101 series is helping me start the next year with the bullet journal. This year I have done a really good job in keeping all my notes in one place. Next year I certainly hope to keep track of a lot more things in the bullet journal. Thank you so much.

    Thank you for doing these videos. My sister -in-law and I have both been wanting to start a bullet journal and you really do a wonderful job of explaining and showing how to make it easy and practical. I have carried and used a steno pad for years, so this feels like it will be a natural progression. I look forward to next Monday's video.

    I love this video. Really gives me new ideas for my Bujo. I thought making it pretty would make me want to use it more. Turns out that I just do not (want to) spend time with my Bujo anymore after only 3 months! I am going back to the basics! Thank you for making that sound cool too. PS. I am missing the fountain pen! because of you I got into fountain pens again, and I love love love your handwriting. I would love to see more of it in this series. Looking forward to next Monday!

      I have introduced my high school students to the Bullet Journal using Ryder's youtube video (so boys wouldn't think it was too froufrou). You have made exactly the right follow up for those interested in following through. Glimpses of your real bullet journal will show the artists in the classes what else they can add. You are a star!

    Thank you for this series.. I am finding it very helpful. It’s interesting as I had almost been doing a bullet journal in its most basic form without realising in a travellers notebook, but with a series of little inserts, so my to do list was one book and then various things that you have been calling collections in different inserts. I stopped using it as I got frustrated with never being able to find things.. but have realised from this video some tiny tweaks I could make that would make it all so much clearer (such as indexes and dates!) I am thankful that unlike some I have seen, you make it clear that this can totally be done without an expensive notebook, stickers and a hundred pens, themes, an art degree or a hundred hours to draw everything out every few days (which although beautiful I know would be completely overwhelming for me!) and that actually I wasn’t far out in what I was doing already 😊

    Hi Kara! I'm a new subscriber and I'm already in love with bullet journaling. I'm already in the world of journaling and actually use a system very close to bullet journaling that I concocted myself using homemade journal notebooks with just plain printer paper with a pretty cardstock scrap paper on the outside! Then I pretty up the inside myself, although my skills still need a lot of work. I have so many things about journaling I've learned over the past couple years and I had to figure out how to try and combine them into one journal somehow Bc I love them all! Bullet journaling is perfect! You are a great teacher and I've learned so much already, even though I use a very similar system. I'm just addicted! Lol. Thank you so much for all your inspiration!

    This is exactly what scared me from Bullet Journaling to begin with. I asked myself was I just not busy enough to have one. Then I took a look at this video and said okay, I can do this. I'd like to manage my simple life for me, my husband and our 23 month old son. His appts, his new daycare, more marital time....simple things I'd like to prioritize. I think I'll be watching more of your videos and learn because I can do maybe a middle ground between what you're teaching us and the original...does that make sense? Lol...either way Thank You very much...Laura.

    Great series, especially this video. I've been using a Bullet Journal since April and my version is pretty minimalist, but somehow the concepts of < to indicate "scheduled" as opposed to > to indicate "migrated" just escaped me. Finally I think they've clicked! I also really like the idea of using printed and cursive handwriting in your monthly log for different types of notes.

    Thanks for adding the information about using an electronic schedule along with your bujo. I do have a question for you, though. When you've indexed and future logged and have started your monthlies, let's say you want to add a collection. Do you just put it in the first open page (and index, of course) or do you try to guess how much room your month will take up and pick a new page somewhere?

One thing: This video seemed to have a soft filter or something which made it seem just slightly fogged. I have seen this in my pics when my lens on my iPhone is fogged from the cold. I love watching your videos Kara. You are such a great teacher! I've been using a "practice" bullet journal for the last 2 months with a notebook I was already using because I didn't want to waste the paper and also felt the need to just "get my feet wet" before starting on a fancy, new notebook. Do you think that a weekly spread is not necessary? I see lots of people squeezing in 5-7 days on one page which I don't think is realistic for me. Is it a weekly spread in place of the daily spreads? Or is it in addition? I'm kind of confused....and maybe overwhelmed.

      Hi Gen! I use a weekly spread myself, but it is in addition to my dailies. It's basically a way for me to have my entire week at a glance for appointments, events, and current projects. I keep all of my tasks on my daily pages and not my weekly spread, though. Hope that helps! :)

    Do you keep all of your planning/lists/to dos in your bujo? This has been my biggest struggle with this system; if I'm spending the time to decorate, doodle and write memories and journal, etc, I don't necessarily want to keep every little to do, grocery list and brain dump. But I really want to keep everything in one place.

    So, I've just discovered yet another thing to add to my to-do list. I have spent the entire weekend binge-watching Bullet Journal videos. I can't draw a straight line with a ruler, so I'm not sure how well this concept is going to work for me, but I'm willing to give it a shot. My biggest question right now is why fine point pens/markers? I HATE fine-point pens/markers. Haven't used one since my accounting days with green bar paper. Way before your time. My pens, ballpoint or uniball, have to be at least medium, if not bold. Is this going to be a problem?

    • @Bohoberryshop
      @Bohoberryshop  7 років тому +5

      Thanks Karen! I say use whatever pens you enjoy the most. I like the fine points because they allow me to write smaller, but there's no rule that says you have to use what I recommend :)

    I have been bullet journalling since June after finding your videos. I am wondering if you ever migrate a collection from one journal to the next, and if so, how do you transfer it? Thanks for this series. I've been busy tweeking my journal!

      Absolutely! Check out my January Plan With Me video (ua-cam.com/video/dXJZBTF63WI/v-deo.html). I talked a bit about migration from one journal to another. I'll also be moving into a new Bullet Journal very soon so I plan to do a migration video then as well :)

    Thank you so much for your video! Newbie here- I just started today. You mentioned that you have a very busy schedule- do you ever run out of room on your daily log- seems like such a small space! I tend to only have three "events" per day and I don't think they would fit there! Was thinking of having a weekly to do list and just witing the to do item on my space for the day if it absolutely needs to be there- otherwise I can just put a * or number if I need to get serious about prioritizing, then I can see all my tasks in one place. Also, does it get confusing to have your collection pages interwoven? Would tabbing make this easier and/or possibly starting the collections from the back of the journal or am i overthinking it Haha! Do you sometimes wish you had left more room for one of them and then need to redo and cross out the old one?

    Hello, thank you for your videos. I find it very hard to figure out which types of journals/pens work together without sacrificing pages due to bleeding through. Do you know of any journal types that can handle watercolor brush/pens and fine tip? I've spent so much on typing to find them. Thank you for any input!

    I still don't get the difference between migrated and scheduled....I mean surely if it's scheduled for another date, it's been migrated too?

    • @hungryhermit9340
      @hungryhermit9340 6 років тому +1

      If it's migrated it goes one day forward and if it's scheduled it may be scheduled to next week or month anyways. So if a haircut is migrated on 20 then it goes to 21 naturally and if scheduled then it goes to may be 27 of the month or something like that. I hope it helps

      Migrated = Reorganised date of a previously scheduled appointment. E.g a hairdressing appointment had to be moved because it was double-booked. It will now happen on a future date. HTH
      Scheduled = The original date of the appointment

    Hope this doesn't sound weird but is the future log supposed to be created over again at the start of each new month? If not how often does it need to be written out? Thanks

    • @LearninandLivin
      @LearninandLivin 8 років тому

      Ok thanks. If I'm understanding correctly basically I write it out in the beginning of my BUJO then wait until six months has passed until I write out another Future Log. Correct?

    Noticed St. Patrick's Day is marked in your future log...I'm from Ireland! Is it a big thing where you're from? Oh and also🌸 any tips on student bullet journaling??

    • @morgandeen
      @morgandeen 8 років тому +2

      I am from the USA like Kara, and while it's not a huge thing, people do celebrate it (some more seriously than others). I am also a student, and I'd suggest a separate calendar/log for due dates, tests, quizzes, etc. :)

    I love this series, it's very helpful for those of us trying to start out with our bullet journals. I do have a question pertaining to things such as challenges: How do you go about adding challenge entries to your BuJo? I've been trying to find a good layout to balance daily logging with daily challenge prompts (the #RockYourHandwriting challenge, for instance) and I haven't found a method that works for me. I've tried making spaces in my daily logs for challenge entries, and I've also tried just writing them out like new collections. Any ideas to share regarding this?

    • @Bohoberryshop
      @Bohoberryshop  8 років тому

      Thanks for your kind words! I typically just throw my prompt responses in wherever I have space. I love the idea of making them into a collection of sorts, though :)

      Say someone says 'wanna grab a cup of coffee? I'm available on tuesday and friday.' you have a list where you can plan that in! otherwise,you'll be dependant on your phone or the other person to know what day what date is!

    how long did it take you to get used to the system (or your way of the system)? i came across this system at least a few years ago and got super hyped but never got into it. im trying to start again. currently at the brainstorming stage. it's been at least a week lol. it's so stressful and gives me ton of headaches. hopefully starting and brainstorming will be the hardest part of the system because it's very intriguing and i'd love for my life to change and be more organized as well. also trying to get into that minimal, konmari lifestyle as well.
    and, curious, how many months does one book last you? how pages is that?
    thanks for all these informative videos! it's very helpful.

    • @Bohoberryshop
      @Bohoberryshop  7 років тому

      I'd say it took me pretty much my entire first journal to really get used to the system and tweak it to what I need. Still, to this day, I'm tweaking it constantly based on what I need at the moment :) One journal typically lasts me about 4-5 months :)
