    Purchased 2021 Sport Glide with Stage 2 for more torque ( + Screaming Eagle Exhaust). I’m 5’7” and added 2” risers for the bars along with lower seat so I can comfortably reach the front foot controls. Added sissy bar for my passenger and changed up the side mirrors with low profile HD mirrors. Swapped out the front turning signals with LD lights. This bike does not disappoint. Days I feel like hitting the twisties without saddle bags is very easy to do. Just wanted to give those readers a real genuine review of the Sport Glide. Thx for the review mate!

    I have a 2020 sport glide, upgraded from a 2017 Sportster. Was convinced I wanted the low rider or a low rider S (once it came out), but after sitting on both and being realistic about what I wanted a bigger bike for, I chose the sport glide. I was commuting on my sportster with a large backpack to work every day with my breakfast and lunch/snacks, and didn’t have room for rain gear, and only had enough from for tools and bike insurance and registration in the swing arm bag. The bags on the sport glide fit everything I need and more and I no longer have to ride with a backpack. The 107 is plenty of power for me and if I ever need more, there’s kits available. I have the same mini boards as you, got some taller pullback risers, reduced reach seat, adjustable levers, and smaller diameter grips and it’s perfect for me now. Maybe taller bars in a few years, but I’m good with what I have for now. Plus the insurance cost of a 107 vs a 114 saved me some money too. Low rider S is beautiful, but the sport glide was no brainer for me since I wanted the storage without getting a touring chassis.

      Moose32890 hey mate that is great to hear! Sounds like you were in the exact position as I was in. I was convinced I wanted the Fat Bob (before the Low Rider S was released) but the practicality of the Sport Glide and it’s ability to do everything was what sold me on it. Enjoy the ride! ✌️⚡️

    My 2019 Sport Glide has been perfect for my hour commute to work. Saddle bags hold my scrubs, work shoes, large lunch box, gloves and armored textile jacket, keys/wallet/phone with room to spare. Can stow a Daytona half helmet as needed. Adding the Memphis Shade El Paso to my long list of upgrades, looks great. Excellent comparison, thanks dude.

    Great review MB! I'm a proud owner of a 2020 SpG. I run without the fairing and bags most of the time, as I use the bike for commuting (i.e., lane splitting) in Los Angeles. Its incredible handling on the streets (love that front fork and tire combo! but could've used another brake rotor...), and it's dual purpose touring ability with the fairing and bags, are what sold me on it. Coming off of foreign cruisers, a Sportster and most recently a Dyna Wide Glide, the SpG is the best handling cruiser bike I've ever ridden, which suits my riding style perfectly. :-)

    Thank you Michael, we asked and you answered. Basically verified the general consensus, which at 6’4” looks like the Sportsglide is the practical choice, however there’s still the Fatbob which already has the 114, same front end, 28 degree rake, dual seat with rear pegs plus forward controls. Just looks like it came from a Mad Max set. If it had a 5 gallon tank would be even better.
    I’ll take them for a test ride and go from there.
    Thanks again.

    100% agree before upgrading to a softail I was torn between the two bikes. Saw Matt Laidlaws video on how to pick a bike based on the type of riding and as I went through my needs I found the sport glide satisfied all the boxes. I am a proud owner of a 2020 Sport Glide. I was about to buy a sport glide and then the Low Rider S was announced. I held off my purchase till I could get a lengthy test ride of the Low Rider S. I still ended up buying the 2020 Sport Glide. Like you said the bags and fairing on the bike changed my life. My next bike is going to be a Road or Street Glide.. First full size bagger. The only thing you missed in this comparison was that the Sport Glide is a gateway bagger. Dont buy it unless you want your next bike after to cost $28,000 U.S. lol

      Wyo Moto haha that is a good point - gateway bagger! 😅😅😅 I have to admit - after testing the Street and Road Glide I was hooked. Decided to build out my Sport Glide more and instead of upgrading, get another bike - a mid-sized adventure bike so I can cover all kinds of terrain!

    Great Harley Head to Head video, I like the way you broke them both down for comparison. For a millennial - Child of the 80's, MacGyver, Knight Rider - like me the last Low Rider S and Roadster first attracted me to the HD brand. For me in the current HD line up, the new Low Rider S, Sport Glide, Fat Bob and Breakout look great, then there's choosing a bike that can do it all, commute, hit the hills, do a weekend away ride. And it's a lot of money, it's a passion and a project.

    Put the full length shock from the Heritage in your Sport Glide. It'll not only make it more comfy, it'll give you extra ground clearance in the corners. You'll leave a LR as a memory on a twisty road.
    If I had a Sport Glide, I would have set it up almost identically to yours.
    What I'd really like in a Softie is a Fat Bob (tall shock, thick seat, dual brakes) with the Sport Glide wheels, large tank, and bags.

    • @TheMotoBarista
      @TheMotoBarista  5 років тому

      saddlebag good idea, I never thought about that, I will look into changing the shock! The Fat Bob was always my favourite of the softails but needed that larger tank and bags like you said.

    Nice review, I was between both and went with the Low Rider S. I agree on all points, I've been doing mods non-stop on the Low Rider S to make it more comfortable. My main decision point came down to out of the box handling, power and braking since comfort and convenience mods were cheaper that performance mods. Great job on your comparison!

    • @TheMotoBarista

    • @jsprite123
      @jsprite123 4 роки тому

      Hi there, since you mentioned "braking" and the Softails are basically like Legos, could you add that extra front disk brake to a regular Low Rider or Sport Glide?

    • @rosyrosenblum9823
      @rosyrosenblum9823 4 роки тому

      @@jsprite123 The expense would be pretty high. New caliper, new rotor/pads, on the sport glide I don't believe you could add the rotor due to the Mantis wheel. Since they have ABS, most likely there would be programming at the dealer to calibrate. You can't go wrong with any of them, it just depends on your long term picture. Me personally, I like the blackout look, the unique logo, the wheels and the upside down forks on the Low Rider S. The Sport Glide and the Fat Bob were close. The Sport Glide was eliminated due to less rake and 114 motor that can't be duplicated (stroke is longer and I know the argument is that you can put a stage 3 in a 107 to equal a 114, but I can do the same to a 114 and get even more power) The Fat Bob was eliminated due to the weird tire sizing and small tank.
      Like I said, it comes down to personal preference and the long term picture in your head. I just wanted the most "badass" bike to start with that had most of the features I wanted. If I had to do it again, I would do the same thing

I am going to put a stage 2 kit on it and she would have plenty of power. I will be taking delivery today. It was a hard bike to find one new since they stop production in 2021. 64 and was in the market for a HD Softail used. Good friend of mine offered me his 2020 Low Rider S, bone stock for $17000 US, when he paid $18,000 for it, new, in Oct of 2022. 2 year old bike has to depreciate some when it's got 10k miles on it. Being 6'5", I was strained by the mid controls. Quite by accident I bumped into a used for sale 2021 Sport Glide in all white, which the dealership was asking 22k for. It just seemed like everyone here in the USA was asking stupid money for Harley Davidsons, new or used. In the USA, the Sport Glide wasn't a great seller, so HD discontinued it for 2022 state side, instead pushing the much, much higher priced Low Rider ST, which is basically a shark nosed FRX fairing mounted to the frame, with a smaller bag on the right to accommodate the shotgun dual tail pipe exhaust pipes. Evidently Harley places more emphasis on pipes that storage space on these light bikes. Happened to come across a used 2018 Sport Glide from a private party sale. 15k miles on it, well taken care of. Jumped on it for $12 k, as it was local and in Twisted Cherry red, something I'd much rather have than the all so common Black HD's I see everywhere. I agree with your assessment, the Sport Glide is the Swiss Army knife of the softail line up. It doesn't do everything great, but it does so, so many things good enough, that it's a quite satisfying bike to own and ride.

    Sport Glide without a doubt. I'll give up a little performance because who really wants Harley Davidson performance parts ? When after market is so much better . If warranty is more important to you go with the Low Rider S then . But the Sport Glide to me sounds like a better package.......

    I went the Low Rider S, as i came off a Naked Sports Bike.
    I agree that the mid mounts are uncomfortable, but as soon as the forward controls were installed I no longer feel cramped oh I'm 6'4, i found that the bars are prefect in the position no requirement to change.
    I do agree the Sport Glide is the better for the long distance out of the box, but when you want to make the bike your own spending the money won't matter.
    I believe that you truly have made a bias decision as you own the Sport Glide - As my opinion is bias for the Low Rider S

      Don’t get me wrong I love the Low Rider S - the most fun I have had on a Harley as it handles great and love the brakes. Also the style is undeniable. I just chose the Sport Glide because I needed something to handle different types of riding out of the box.

    I did not the Lowrider S but compared the 107 Sport Glide against the 114 Fat Bob. For me the 28 rake of the Fat Bob compared to the 30 rake of the Sport Glide as well as the more ‘jumpy’ 114 with only minor throttle made me feel like a hooligan on the Fat Bob. Nothing wrong with that for a couple of minutes but not helpfull with longer distance travel to work where I prefered the comfy Sport Glide bags made me go for that. I think you did a pretty good overview of the two bikes. I haven't purchased a Harley as of yet, but I'm thinking the Sport Glide for my needs. #1 If I take trips I want to be able to stretch my legs out. Right now I have a Suzuki sport standard and my legs get so cramped going long distance. If I could stretch them out I'd be laughing. #2 I would like to be able to set it up for my girlfriend to come along. It looks like the Sport Glide would be the best for setting it up for a two up. Question...Do you think it would be worth switching the foot pegs out for floorboards? I think it would be a big benefit for those long hauls. Anyway, nice bike you have there and ride safe.

I’d also recommend upgrading your seat asap for your girlfriends sake!! •  9 місяців тому

    I was aiming for Low Rider S, Street Bob and maybe Standard and Sport Glide wasn't even in my list until I actually went to dealer and test. The reason that Sport Glide wasn't in my list because Harley is doing their best to hide it from their catalogues and probably telling dealers not to promote it until someone asks for it.
    Luckily my dealer understood what I need and brought me to the kinda 'hidden' place in the showroom to show me the Sport Glide. It's an amazing bike except forward controls which are not for my taste and honestly, Low Rider S handling is kinda disappointment. Front end is way more heavier than it should be and in slow speeds or traffic lights it's definitely not fun to carry that bike. Which I also tested Heritage and that giga ass bike doesn't feel as heavy as the Low Rider S.
