This was awesome, I've always had your back man. People can just be really shitty. Gonna have to go on Twitch and watch the full stream. Btw: I can't understand why so many people didn't know how a backing track works🤣. Glad you're back bro🤘.
Lmao true But for real, Jared was an absolute dickhead to Lucas. They were (not sure if they still are) good friends, so I really don't know why he'd throw the poor guy under the bus. There was no reason whatsoever for him to make a full-blown callout video - they could've at LEAST talked it out first, but nope, Lucas lost an endorsement and even got death threats - but Lucas handled the accusations perfectly. Jared's now-private apology was so half-assed, and the follow-up DMs shown in Lucas's debunk video reeked of narcissism. "Don’t lie to ME. That hurts more than anything.” Gross. The only fake thing here is Jared's personality. What a loser.
@njl4515 Right, but Jared was the one who escalated the situation to a whole new level. To send your audience as an angry mob towards someone else without proof that they’re actually faking is the lowest you can go. It got Jared nowhere, it really damaged Lucas’s reputation, and it made them both bad, especially Jared, since he’d stoop so low to bother pointing it out
@njl4515 I'm with on this one. Lucas did nothing to unprove the allegations against him during years. Cuts all the time (avoid knowing to play the whole thing in one take), no clocks behind him, no screen that shows the track being built, no direct sound from the camera... etc. etc. It could have been done in one video. What the guy choses to post on Facebook to prove that he plays live ? Him playing over a backingtrack knowing exactly that it wasn't him playing. What do you want to prove with that? He totally did everything for poeple to accuse him of being fake. Even the rare video where you saw him play with the sound from the camera was not that good in comparison of the others. So Jared was legit to wonder if all that was fake. Plus Lucas says he wants positivity in guitar community but still trolls and provoke poeple by saking that he is the best technical death metal guitarist of his generations and what are you going to do about that? When he almost yawns with his bored face while doing a hard lick is not that "positive" either. I mean, we all did it when we were young and we all know it's vanity. Still, Lucas is good, better than me, Rings of Saturn is just not my type of music.
I may not listen to a lot of Rings of Saturn. But I gotta admit. Lucas is a brilliant guitar player and a really nice guy that isn't afraid to show those haters/elitists how wrong they are about his play style. Herman and Sam are both brilliant as well. Always have been one of my favourite duo's in metal.
I have literally backed up Lucas when he took a break even messaging him and letting him know I'm a fan and he is a legend in my eye's. I love Lucas he is legit as a person and should be treated with respect just like anyone else should be
Good on you🤘 Before all this shit happened, we were chillin with him before a show and he was showing my guitarist how he plays some of his most gnarly riffs. No amp or anything. So I always knew it was BS. Also it trips me out that people (especially those involved with music and playing live gigs) don't know how backing tracks and a silent stage work in a smaller club setting. Depending on where you stand, all you may hear is a backing track. As soon as I saw that video I just laughed. It's just really shitty how people treated the guy, especially supposed friends whom are also musicians(wont say any names). They of all people should have understood what was going on in that video, but I think most of them were just being disingenuous and trying to get those precious drama clicks. Anyway, Im just glad the guy is back and doing what he loves.
This really hit home with me. There's always going to be nasty petty people in the world who need to tear other people down in order to feel better about themselves. Keep shredding, keep kicking ass because both of you guys are what the world needs right now even if we don't always deserve you.
4:30 Lucas did exactly that to me. His playing has encouraged me to practice more complicated techniques with efficiency, like sweeping, tapping, etc. I legit would not be the player I am today without Lucas so thank you Lucas for passing on the inspiration to me and many others 🙏🏻
I learned about Lucas Mann (and Rings of Saturn) thru Jared Dines' videos. One of those, of course is the infamous calling out of Jared on Mann's "fake" playing. After watching all related videos to that debacle and the Among Us videos, I think I can say that Lucas is one talented, cool and humble dude. I mean, what type of confident bastard can come up to Herman and say that he's better than him? I am profoundly glad that you both persevered and didn't really waste your time on those vermins. that story made me go "WHAT IN THE ACTUAL F" but i read some comment about a controversy and he responded that he can't publicly comment on it yet; i must admit i am glad that this is it. Amazing players both of you, wish you all the best and I'm happy to see that you are well able to prove every shittalker wrong; love ya!
So messed up how some people can be, it is lonely at the top since everyone else is trying to bring you down but props to you both for rising above the 🐂 💩
I must say: musicially i'm not into rings of saturn but lucas mann is truly an inspiration -as a human being. honestly I do remember your reaction video back then, your approach after all the shit with jared, being able to be the truly bigger man and still cooperate with him and still not being bitter ,angry or sad but you were so calm and addressed every issue so lucas mann - i wish i was a bit like you...
that story made me go "WHAT IN THE ACTUAL F" but i read some comment about a controversy and he responded that he can't publicly comment on it yet; i must admit i am glad that this is it. (i mean it is not like one of them being accused of raping or doing drugs or stealing songs... for the word controversy could have meant something to dislike the band for but in this case it is not!)
PS watching this makes me realize i have not played guitar in 3 years since i live at home and my brother works at night and sleep in the day so there is never a good time to play... i have no finger muscle left, nor any hard skin at the tip... i literally got spaghetti or noodles for fingers now!
