I was 11 years old when I started driving a 4020 in the early '60s. I tip my hat to you two for giving those two old war horses new life and new purpose, enjoy! 🇺🇸🚜🇺🇸
It’s awesome to see you young farmers not only respect the old ways, but to strive to keep them alive and give homage to those who fed America before your generation!
I grew up in Central Illinois but have been living in Southern California now for many years after I left the USMC I stayed here because of the economic reasons and I see this young lady and I remember my childhood on the farm and remember my (4) years in FFA. I remember young ladies like Laura that I grew up with that knew how to do everything because they had good Folks, a Mother and Father that taught them how to exist on the land and farm. I remember when John Deere brought out their 4020 model. It was really expensive for a Farmer to invest in but the 4020 like the old Johnny popper (D) are still going today even with years of serious neglect. That shows you the kind of America we were back then. Keep Going Ms. Laura and your little Brother. G-D Bless you all....
A small plot of sweet corn so you can can corn in the fall and have good corn to eat all winter. Glad you are saving some of the older equipment and giving it a purpose in it's retirement
Grant, you got this figured out: with nabraska farm girls and old John deere tractors, when you put the two together just step out of the way and "let um eat". Lol. Another great video Laura; once again, with all the bigger tractors and modern tech. Sometimes life just calls for some old fashioned gear and chain driven dirt working. I really got to get back on the old '65 Oliver and '53 J.D 40. Thank you and God bless.
That's when driving tractors was a real art! Open air cabs, the smell of freshly-turned dirt, the breeze in your face, the "GPS" was a visual point far ahead (or flags, if needed). Those old workhorses still get the job done (albeit quite a bit slower than all the huge modern equipment). Thanks for using those old tractors, and sharing it with us oldtimers!
The fact that you all took the time to do this is awesome. I never was a fan of the gas 4020 but I’ve got a 1968 diesel that I love to use. Thank you all and best wishes this season.
The newer equipment is so impressive to watch with all the technology, BUT watching old school equipment is so much fun !! It still has it's place in our world of ever changing technology, keeping it simple and fun. I also think Grant really likes watching you enjoy yourself doing what you do. Hats off to Grant he's a good guy.
No air-conditioned cab, no auto steer, no seed tinder? I didn't think you could still plant corn like that. 😁 Well done, Laura and Grant. I like seeing the old tractors doing what they have been doing for a long time.
Wow Laura, really exciting to see some old school planting using the original GPS system that God gave us! Two eyes and two steady hands! You guys are AMAZING!
Good morning Sunshine!! It was great seeing you and Grant again today. I loved you telling the story about how you came about picking up the equipment. It is so nice you see you have a passion for getting the older equipment and restoring them to look good and function as intended. It was a joy watching you discing and then planting. I think, if the truth were known, the equipment was just as glad and having as much fun as you were Laura. Have a great week. Larry, Central Valley, Ca.
Those 4020’s are the best tractor John Derre ever made. They did lots of the heavy work and many had them for the big tractor. They’ll still be running when them new ones are in the grave. I have a 1940 Case DC4 and a 1961 Case 930 Diesel; can’t kill them. God bless you for saving them, but keep them busy
Come on now , theres alot of us small farmers who use 50 -- 60 year old equipment everyday , not just for fun . I still use my old Olivers every day around the farm and other old equipment , no cabs , no a.c. , no power steering . We still use them because their easier to work on and thats what we can afford and most of all , still love my old tractors . Good for you guys getting to play around with old stuff . Try using them all day , everyday .
That is what called putting old machinery to good use. And the old engines start quite easily with Laura's magic touch. Stay safe everybody, love from Mike. ❤
Laura, your genuine enthusiasm for what you and Grant do is contagious, and your willingness to explain things in a simple way without overly dumbing it down is appreciated. Here's wishing you both much success!
Definitely doing it old school! Funny that the Modern Truck has engine issues, but the nearly 60 year old tractors had none! Getting the tractor and seeder off the trailer was an interesting adventure as well, Good Job Gage!
Old school but lovely. Nice to see old equipment doing it's job, and a good job at that, after so many years. Well done for saving the old ladies. 👍Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪
I have been watching for about 3 years and this is my first comment. I grew up in New Hampshire, and one of my uncles bought a farm in the late 1970s up in Maine. I have logged many miles in fields and on the roads in old tractors, and they are incredibly fun and enjoyable to use. The narrow front end Farmall "M" row cropper is my favorite. I have had him watch a couple of your videos with me and he enjoyed them.
That’s some rich soil you are planting in. Around here if we didn’t have sweet corn near electricity to play music with or a night light we would be feeding every raccoon in the township. Those old Deere tractors were the best thing to drive, loved their sound.
I like the way you operate. Taking care of those old tractors is just awsome. Emmick farms also have a lot of them (or, mabye not a lot, but several), and when I asked Grayce if she would ever get rid of them, she said NO!. :)
First time watching you I hope you understand the value of the comments offering you exspert consultation work smarter not harder first time read into comments other than music go girl good luck after reading the comments it was very uplifting there is a lot of awesome people out there make me feel really good about the world just for a little bit ha ha❤
Now this is my kind of farming! No cab old school! We only had a 4 row Case planter pulled by a David Brown 990 for field corn. Sweet corn we used a little Ferguson 30 with a 2 row all metal planter with the big steel wheels and a metal seat in between the planter boxes. Thank you for sharing this video kind lady!
Great video youngin! I started farming in 1976 and my 1st. tractor was a diesel 68 model 4020. Thanks for bringing back so many great memories 🥰👍🙋♂️🙋♂️🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🚜🚜
That International cutharrow looks a lot like the one my Dads cousin,Ray Steel had. He sold his farm in the early 1970’s and moved out to north east Missouri. He had around 200 acres in Jersey just a couple miles from our farm and bought over 800 in Missouri.
JD 4020 tractors, one gear short of a JD 4010. 😉They both were good tractors with plenty of power. The JD 4010 at work was a Diesel and had no 3 point hitch so was used with a plow or a JD Disc. Our disc used scalloped discs which you might want to install at least on the front. Also ours was 24Volt starting and not 12V.
Laura , you need to buy Grant a few battery's for his birthday , lol , i drove a 4020 for a few summers when i was 12 ,bush hogging and disking , i pack cotton in the trailer when i wasnt on the tractor ,, the single wheel 4020 you got there needs a few weights on the front to hold it down , i had that problem to when i drove them , they called that my tractor , it was funny , stay safe friends , see yall on the next one
Those are still good tractors. I spent many hours on a JD 4020 tractor. They were always very smooth handling tractors. Luckily the ones I usually drove had an Egging cab, but I also drove an 830 and 4010 John Deere that were butane. The 4020s were diesel.
Excellent video you guys. Love watching the old tractors still working hard. I worked on a hay farm in the 60s and drove a couple of john deers best job I ever had for the age I was. I would love to be able to do it again I loved it. ❤
A superb effort and passion that you two have for rescuing old JD tractors and giving them a continued future and life. That old Minnesota JD turbo diesel sounded great as she burst into life with a puff of exhaust! I noticed you didn’t have the disc outriggers extended. Why was that? You just have to watch out for that elusive "battery bandit” to make sure he doesn’t knick any 4020 tractor batteries! Great to see you planting some sweet corn for eating! I’ll be round at harvest to try some out! Love corn on the cob with lots of butter! Cheers and blessings from me in New Zealand, David ❤ 💚 💛
Well done, wonderful 4020's!! You need to get front weights on the planter tractor as the 6 row 7100 keeps lifting your front axle off the ground for safe steering and handling. I used to plant with a 6 row lister (JD) with dry fertilizer boxes and those front weights where much safer on my 1968 IH 856 (compares hp to the JD 4020 and planted at 5 mph.
Laura , you are so proud of you old school equipment , like a captain of a ship standing up looking all around !! xx
Wow got a m and w turbo on it really cool
I was 11 years old when I started driving a 4020 in the early '60s. I tip my hat to you two for giving those two old war horses new life and new purpose, enjoy!

😊😊😊😊😊😊
I’m liking the old tractor series pretty cool seeing older machines still working.
Looks like some new batteries on the farm ! Finally
Those 4020's never die.
👍👍👍👍
Respect to you and Grant for going old school and showing us all what farming was like before GPS and auto steer!
Yeah, it takes me back to when I was running that equipment and how old I am now. 😄
@@billmonroe8826 we here spent many days sitting on a chain driven planter hand feeding it tobacco plants. The good ole days!
Laura looks great running the old tractors that should be her next t shirt idea her on the 4020
Nothing more cheerful than to get up bright-and-early to watch LauraFarms put some vintage tractors to work. Love it.
😁😁😁😁
Glad to see you are showing using old equipment in their working clothes to grow food. Saving that old iron.
😁😁😁😁
Cool to see these old tractors still being relevant.
👍👍👍👍👍👍
Its super good you show young people how old farming was done in old days and how mutch the farming industry has evolved
It’s awesome to see you young farmers not only respect the old ways, but to strive to keep them alive and give homage to those who fed America before your generation!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
THANK YOU FOR TAKING US ALONG WE LOVE
😁😁😁😁
Laura has the magic touch, those tractors fired right up for her.
It's awesome how you guys take the old and use it for good farming
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Grant You Should Be Proud Of Laura! America Farmers Rule. God Bless
😘😘😘😘😘😘
I always look for your videos. love those old tractors. 4020 was the best ever built
Now relegated as hobby tractors planting sweet corn!! Really!!??!
I’m glad they’re being used🤗🤗🤗
👍👍👍👍
There is nothing like an old 4020 putting in the work! I love those year model tractors 🚜
👍👍👍👍👍👍

Laura needs a BIG plot of sweet corn to share with her subscribers
😁😁😁😁😁😁
Sweet seeing the old girls or boys cared for and put to use. Takes me back to great times and simpler life.
👍👍👍👍
I freakin loved this one.
Good job Laura and Grant.
Old stuff’s my favorite.

Your Grandad would be so proud of you Laura you come a long way in a few years
The 4020s and the 856 IH were the big horses when I was a kid, I remember those days well, good times
That was good equipment in the 60's when my father farmed 1,000 acres - what memories - thanks for this episode

I really like the old tractors great job with giving the old tractors new life. Always enjoy your videos.😊
Why am I picturing a little kid riding on the fender of that tractor. Good memories riding there with my grandpa and uncle.
😊😊😊😊😊😊❤❤
It is what I did.....
The old fashioned way! That's cool!
Love the green ones! Johnny poppers!
Thanks for taking us along! 🙂
👍👍👍👍
Awesome video happy to see the old tractor doing their thing . Oldies but goodies
One of the most important things to remember and do while operating equipment is to keep your head on a swivel. Good job Laura.
The fact that you all took the time to do this is awesome. I never was a fan of the gas 4020 but I’ve got a 1968 diesel that I love to use. Thank you all and best wishes this season.
BEAST, your Grand Father is looking down smiling, I am sure.

Somethings never get old. Young girl on old tractor.. driving in a straight line. No gps. Real oldschool..
👍👍👍👍👍👍
Awesome work everyone and using older equipment
Wow Laura, really exciting to see some old school planting using the original GPS system that God gave us! Two eyes and two steady hands! You guys are AMAZING!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Seeing those old tractors working made me feel old .... but smile with memories! Thanks Laura and Grant
Glad to see the older tractors being put back to! Instead of just sitting around and rusting away!
What a fabulous couple you two make and to be outdoors growing the nations food is just excellent.
Good morning Sunshine!! It was great seeing you and Grant again today. I loved you telling the story about how you came about picking up the equipment. Grant and you seem to make a great team! Keep up the great work.
Thank you so much for keeping the gasser working and relevant. I'm loving this series, and your respect for the old equipment.
👍👍👍👍👍👍
You're an awesome hard working family. I hope God continues His blessings on You🙏
4020's are really the best! They definitely look a lot better with a bucket loader.
I love the fact that you and Grant see the value in old equipment, that old equipment is still valid today
❤❤❤❤
Thank you Laura and Grant for taking us along. I’ve loved watching all this. I have a new respect for farmer
👌👌👌👌👌👌
Visions of a big tub of Nebraska sweet corn, dripping butter, salted and steaming. Culinary paradise!
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Outstanding. I love seeing the tractors of my younger years still working.
I like the sound guard seat on the new 4020.
Great job resurrecting those two old 4020s, but the planter tractor needs a little weight on her nose! Good luck with the sweet corn patch!
Love the use of the older equipment! TY for sharing!
It's great to see You and Grant use the old tractors and equipment.Lobe the old stuff
Can't beat the old ways equipment like that made farming what it is today.

Thanks for sharing and keeping the old alive

The best sound ever!! The roll of black smoke!! Doesn't get any better than that!
Definitely doing it old school! Funny that the Modern Truck has engine issues, but the nearly 60 year old tractors had none! Getting the tractor and seeder off the trailer was an interesting adventure as well, Good Job Gage!

This is how we grew up farming .love the equipment. First cab tractor drive was in 1970. A Ford. Combines only had umbrellas.
Hello there , how are you doing today?God bless you!!
Standing and driving man the good old days of farming
You have to be one strong young lady, carring a battery and a jump box. Farm life
Country girl, Kool-aid smile. Workaholic = equal the BEST... Ed from NY. Blessed 🫂
4WD comes in handy when the back wheels are off the ground. At least you know the hitch was secure! 🤣
Yeah, time to add some some blocks to the trailer for loading heavy equipment.
A superb effort and passion that you two have for rescuing old JD tractors and giving them a continued future and life. That old Minnesota JD turbo diesel sounded great as she burst into life with a puff of exhaust! I noticed you didn’t have the disc outriggers extended. Why was that?

Always have said.." old school, is all ways the best school!!!

Correct. We always had weights on the nose. Especially when pulling a 6 share plough...
Awesome! Real American Iron 💪 my cousin got her dad’s 68 Tri 3020 running and doesn’t miss a beat! Love it!
Nice rest for the JD, I ran a 4020, but my favorite was the old 730 Jonny poppers,we had 4 of them
Hi I’m an Aussie John Deere agricultural tech love too see the old babies running
