    Hello all,
    In this episode I talk about how I treat my workers and why it's important to do things the right way. If you treat people as human beings they will act in kind. I received some "interesting" comments latelly so in this episode I am trying to get across the message of "GO AFTER YOUR DREAM/GOAL don't let people put doubt in your head and work towards whatever you want to achieve and you WILL get it, period!
    Take care guys and thank you for everything that you do for my channel.

      Hello,
      I really enjoy your content. Affordable housing is much needed all over. My wife and I recently had our first child and been trying to find a home but everything is so expensive. I'm not sure how someone affords the mortgage payment on homes. I love that you try to keep your home payments around the $400 to $600 range. That is around the price we would hope to find. Wish you were here in Texas. I would hire you to build us a home!

      I admire your outlook and philosophy about your workers. I used to frame homes for habitat, and I would never do it for a living because most employers treat their guys like crap. The company I work for now(not in construction) doesnt know the first thing about treating employees right. If I wasn't so close to retirement I'd go somewhere else

      I fully agree with you, if the atmosphere between workman and (boss) / I always say workman with a different task / is good work people become thinkers instead of clock watchers,
      I have now seen a number of vid how the workmen behave ( outside just nice)

    So much truth in this video. The old-school mentality of bullying ppl. to move faster or rush harder are over. I've been blessed enough to work for 2 major corporations that have offered leadership & emotional intelligence training. I've applied it into my personal life too. I sure wish you were based here in southern California where home prices are astronomical. My sister tried and failed to build a small 1300 sq ft house in northern LA county. Too many red tapes to go through. Most builders are not interested in building small houses. Expensive fees for utility hookups, school districts, fire and police, etc. At the end of the day your small house would cost almost as much as a house built by a national home builder. So keep up with your good work and continue to be unselfish in helping others to afford a home while still earning a decent living for yourself.

    Hi.
    Ilove your enthusiasm I have never seen a boss so enthusiastic about his work what he does his job what he creates and about how he feels about his employees I commend you for that because it is very very hard to find anyone in construction to be honest and take pride in what they do in their work I actually got scammed but a construction supposedly business in our small town and he stole my mobile home camper that was my 11 year old daughters he stole our dog because he befriended her and I can't prove it but cuz I don't I don't have pictures of them but we did see him but that wasn't enough and he stole all the money I had paid him to do the work and I know that was my fault it was my first time the home was actually a trailer that was given to me because my daughter and I were homeless and we got robbed took us almost 2 years to save up the money and we got robbed so I'm stuck with a trailer that's pretty much worthless cuz the water got in and I'm pretty sure there's mold in there and I was trying to build a tiny house out of a shed only to find out it's not allowed here and now because I started doing things to it I can't send it back so I'm stuck with it and to make it livable I have to add 390 ft to it so that it could actually be I think that's it what it is for it to actually be 900 square feet it's a 14x40 14 wide 40 long so I have to add more to it but of course I don't have the money for it anymore so my little girl and I just live in a small one bedroom apartment that is just extremely tiny but we just keep praying and praying and praying that God hears our prayers and somehow we get this done one way or another we'll get it done that's why I watch a lot of your videos so I could learn and figure out what to do so thank you thank you thank you so much for your videos if you ever do a 900 square foot house please post the video so I can kind of see how you do it and maybe try to copy it in a way but thank you God bless stay safe

    You fill a need I wish so many others were able to accomplish. Homes that are less than 1500 square feet, let alone 1,000, are just so hard to find. But they're so much easier to keep clean and organized, especially if you can later toss in a couple accessory sheds around the property, or even a detached garage someday. It's so hard to tell the scale, but are you framing 8' or 9' walls?

    My fist home was an old lake house it is 860 sf without the finished basement.Living in a smaller home was more satisfying time for me.i still own that home and its now a great rental.Small is great and I think is becoming more common again.Like the homes from the big housing boom after ww2. Modest size houses.

    I have worked for a few truly horrible bosses in my day so I can totally relate to what you are saying in this video. Common decency seems to be fading these days. Everything is about speed and money. If you are kind and patient people view you as weak and someone to be taken advantage of. Sad really. Anyway, keep up the good work I use each of your videos as motivation.

    I just love to watch your videos! Thank you so much for keeping things simple. I have learned so much and now I feel I have the confidence to have a casita built. I have contacted my local Planning Department and have been told that I can build a 609 sq ft unit in my backyard. I have found two, 2/1 floor plans, but need a 2/2. Could you look at the two floor plans and advise if it is possible to comfortably add the additional bath? I'd really appreciate any advice that you could offer. I'm flexible on the floor plans also if you have a better idea.

    I would love to see a home this size built to passive house standards. Have you built anything around the 1,200-1,500 sq ft range?

    • @MigraineCraftsman
      @MigraineCraftsman  4 роки тому +4

      Biggest I built was a 2 story 1450 cabin. It had spray foam insulation and ridged board insualtion in the exterior walls. I overinsulated the heck out of that house. That being said I never built a fully passive one, although I do like the idea of those builds.

    • @dennispope8160
      @dennispope8160 4 роки тому +3

      Migraine Craftsman it takes so much money to bring to passive standard. I think you’re doing a great job deciding on what is worth it... like you said rockwool over fiberglass insulation. Great choice without going overboard.

    • @howmanykisses
      @howmanykisses 4 роки тому +1

      ArthurDentZaphodBeeb why don’t you share the details how to spend that $500 to do a better insulation instead of being rude.

    • @dennispope8160
      @dennispope8160 4 роки тому +1

      Alexander Photographer he is probably referring to air sealing which can be done fairly inexpensively. The question is wether or not it is worth his time to do it or pay someone to do it. This house is built much better then the home I currently live in and I have no complaints.
      Air sealing methods would include details such as sill sealant, sheathing seams taped, WRB or housewrap properly taped, foundation to sheathing sealed using either a sealant or tape... properly sealed Sheetrock to separate the conditioned and unconditioned space etc... there is always so much to do and although the materials cost may only be “$500” the time and labor of those details is extreme in many cases. Some are easier then others but the cost is not inconsequential.

      @MigraineCraftsman  4 роки тому

      @@dennispope8160 :) I had plenty of these discussions with my local inspectors and even they say some things are just not worth it in our climate. Wonderful content! I am grateful for the way you present your content...Very well thought out, logical and informative. The area you have chosen is absolutely gorgeous! While I understand you may be reluctant to divulge the specific location you have chosen, would you be willing to share the general region or area of Georgia in which you build? Looks like it would be a very desirable to place to retire to. Anyway, thank you for all you do to simplify the process and make it understable for someone like me with little construction experience. You have the heart of a teacher and do love what you do and it shows! Also, thank you for your good example of the charitable work you do for those who may be struggling with a lack of food. Again, thank you. If you feel comfortable responding to my question above, I’ll look for it. Thank you, Migraine Craftsman...May your headaches reduce in frequency & intensity as the days go by!

    • @MigraineCraftsman
      @MigraineCraftsman  4 роки тому +1

      The blue is for cold water the red for hot, if that is what you were referring too. The top of the pipes are also taped so no junk gets in there during construction.
      With this system there is a pipe within a pipe the bigger pipe serves as a chase, hopes that makes sense I know it sounds weird.
