I dont understand how these violators think. There are good quality helmets on sale..i just got mine for 1300, orig price is 2500. Full face. The brand is Studds. I spent time canvassing online and in different stores. My effort paid off. I bought 2 actually.. For me and for my wife.
You could have not imagined how lucky you were to be in Parola in such pristine street and sidewalks. I can assure you those trash and whatever obstructions in the sidewalks are all new. The city govt have been cleaning and clearing those streets nonstop since 2019, walang tigil talaga even at the height of the pandemic. Thank you MMDA for the help.
Like I've said in your previous videos, towing is not a deterrent to them. Cancel their business permits or make the penalties in the 100K range. They can afford to buy a truck they can afford to pay 100K
There was a truck driver who accumulated over 40 points demerits for overloading cargo. His boss kept paying his fines and the company was earning more money hauling overweight cargo. So the driver thought it was okay because his tickets was being reimbursed. Now his drivers license is suspended for 2 years. LTO won't renew the poor truck driver his license. He is no longer able to work to drive trucks anymore.

In Davao, I've seen people do some dangerous driving. But as long as there's no accident, the cops don't care. In Cebu, I saw some Toyota Vios pull out in front of a wailing ambulance. This goes to show how undisciplined people in the Philippines are, and this saddens me.
With how congested Metro Manila is, accidents are pretty common. It's just very unfortunate if you're involved in an accident with a rider who's not wearing a helmet and then dies after smashing his head on the road.. You'll be the one who's arrested for reckless imprudence resulting in death.. even if the rider should have been wearing a helmet.

I have my class 5 license through a Driver Ed program provided by my school, in cooperation with the SGI. In Canada, bad drivers stand out, but it's the opposite in the Philippines. Also, trucks in the Philippines tend to be in the left lane, rather than the right lane, something thats a big no no in Canada. In Canada, left lane is the fast lane, but the left lane in the Philippines is apparently the slow lane!

You can't beat traffic and yet they try to by creating extra lanes. The thinking isn't about following the rules, but just making to your destination no matter what. Safety for other's isn't a concern.
The cops don't really care. Their attitude is : " Don't bother us if there's no actual accident. If there is one then call us so we can issue a traffic report. For a fee, of course. "
I think it's okay to keep the remaining fee... for the first time. But for repeat violators, have the penalty increase for each succeeding apprehension. That way it's still reasonable for someone that made a genuine mistake, but not affordable for those who insist on turning the road or sidewalk into their permanent VIP garage.
likely the law for the helmet use came before the law for the substandard helmet, hence the difference in penalty 3,000 is still way more than some far more dangerous penalties you can get, simply because those penalties existed for a long time without being adjusted for inflation.
I know this is not the sole responsibility of MMDA but please more operations like this in the area of R10 please. There are really lots of trash and hazard in that area, both living and nonliving.
I remember reading a new article sometime around the year 2000. The city of Manila had placed waste & recyclable containers around the city, the those that were tasked to empty these receptacles started complaining that they were always full. The solution was to remove all of these garbage cans.
You could get ECE 22.05 and SHARP-rated helmets for 4,000 pesos delivered. That's cheaper than the mods I've seen on a lot of underbone motos and scoots, and definitely way cheaper than the ICU visit and lifetime disability you'll get with generalized head trauma.
For the 'Westerners' watching....when i lived in the Philippines lots of my friends did not own a pair of shoes. In everyday life shoes are not really needed in the Philippines. I lived in Western Visayas so not sure of the footwear rules there when riding but i always wore shoes myself. I gave away some of my shoes when i left.

Infuriating how MMDA is the only team enforcing the law. Baranggay Tanods have eyes, radios, transportation, and authority. City enforcers are the same. There is no indignation against disorder and safety threats.
Many Barangays have deputized traffic enforcers, with government-owned motorcycles. When was the last time you saw a Barangay traffic enforcer writing out a ticket? Majority of Filipinos go for the convenience of buying cheap, substandard and uncompliant helmets because they always say the right one costs too much, it's more comfortable to wear, it's stylish, a closed helmet impairs my vision and/or hearing blah blah blah etc. If so, don't ride a motorcycle then. Use a bicycle instead, those cheap helmets are for that purpose anyway. We really need to be strict in giving privilege of having a drivers license nowadays.

Just like our street, filled with parked tricycles on the sidewalk, which made it into a parking lot "tambakan" of old useless trikes. Hope the clearing operations could check it, without informing the barangay because someone warns the drivers that there's clearing operations that's why the trikes are moved to another place and won't get caught, sadly.

99% chance it is, there is absolutely no reason why you or your dealer does not register a license plate under your name. Whoever owns an unregistered bike without a license should never get that vehicle back again and their backgrounds checked thoroughly
Hello Gadget addict what you are looking at and talking about is the same old story happening everyday in the Metro Manila. I am really wondering why MMDA still continue to operate on them when they do not know that they may again be there the next working or once they leave the place.
It's a business, why they won't change the penalty for illegal parking. Make it 20k 1st offense, 2nd offense 50k plus suspension of license for 6 months, 3rd 100k and revoke their license. I'm sure these owner will not attempt to illegally park their vehicle anymore.

Suggest to implement a law to Impound a motorcycle that does not show its plate no. It may use to commit crimes.
99% chance it is, there is absolutely no reason why you or your dealer does not register a license plate under your name. Whoever owns an unregistered bike without a license should never get that vehicle back again and their backgrounds checked thoroughly

Hello Gadget addict what you are looking at and talking about is the same old story happening everyday in the Metro Manila. I am really wondering why MMDA still continue to operate on them when they do not know that they may again be there the next working or once they leave the place.

It's a business, why they won't change the penalty for illegal parking. Make it 20k 1st offense, 2nd offense 50k plus suspension of license for 6 months, 3rd 100k and revoke their license. I'm sure these owner will not attempt to illegally park their vehicle anymore.

The sad part here is, many Filipinos (not all) are accusing MMDA/LTO/LGU for being crocodile or greedy just for doing their job.
Increase the fines. Repeat offenders have their bikes crushed. Done. No helemet fines over and over boom. Crushed.
I agree that repeat violators should have increased penalties.. whether that means increasing the financial amount, impounding for longer, or some other option.
