Perfect timing, my Wrangler 4xe lease ends next year, I'll be getting this car for family trips. I was considering an R1S but after watching a video where most body shops were asking for 40k+ to fix the rear quarter panel turned me off instantly.
I didn’t know pricing had even been announced. Incidentally, I see plenty of $70,000-80,000 pickup trucks and SUVS on local dealer lots. I don’t see anyone going bananas about those.
The kia ev9 technically was never a true 800v eV architecture. It was more in the 600+ pack voltage. The gv70, ioniq5, ioniq6 were all closer to a true 800 v architecture.
You doing the scene change and then clapping is killing me 😂😂 You're supposed to clap and then change the scene but keep doing what you're doing, it's unique I guess. Keep up the good work. I today realized how much I like watching your reviews. I came to yours after Doug's review of Ioniq 9 and I fast forwarded through basically his entire video and I'm taking my sweet time with yours.
@@MotoManTV Nope, I've been watching your channel for more than a year (though I don't know how many years). It's just that when I was watching your review of Ioniq 9, i realized how bored I was when I was watching another review of it.
Not the best looking, but not horrible either. I'm sure the interior quality and design is much better than any competitors. Waiting for the idiots here to start their usual deluded complaints that Hyundai isn't an equal competitor to Ford, Honda, Toyota, Nissan, and the others and therefore can't charge that much for a car despite it being cheaper and offering more than cars like Volvo. People are stupid.
Not only stupid but those individuals seem to be stuck in the past not realizing that things change with time. Plus, those who talk smack specifically about Hyundai/Kia, they never even owned one in the past from my experience.
On the opposite end of the EV spectrum. Hyundai is advertising *today*, a short term lease with a payment of under $120 (not a typo, one hundred twenty). With the deposit due at delivery, it’s still adapted to under two hundred a month.
Great episode! In design, i think the wheel arches would look better squared off like a GM product. The storm trooper look is definitely becoming hyundai design language and lastly yes the price has to come down. Overall, hyundai design and quality has been improving, i hope it keeps getting better!
As a Hyundai/KIA fan, I approve this message! 🤣 My very first car right out of college was a 1999 Hyundai Elantra, got it with 12 miles on the odometer, had for five years and put 112K miles. One of the best cars I've had thus far. IMHO, the design of this Ioniq 9 is pretty clever, understated elegance, and I think it looks sharp. Truth be told, I prefer the rugged look of the KIA EV9. I'm hoping Hyundai gets rid of those "eyebrows' above the wheel-wells, those don't add anything the design, to me it looks like rookie ID mistake - fluff. I certainly hope they keep the amber *rear* directional/blinker lights - that is something that hopefully the US regulatory agency dealing with the automotive industry **puts back in place** as a requirement. Allowing red lights for hazzard/directional purposes is just plain dumb. Not so sure about the Tesla charging port as a default - I think that's a strategic mistake - the trade-off of slower charging for the sake of accessing Tesla's network doesn't seem logical, *to me.* Time will tell. I'm looking forward to seeing the US-bound version once everything is finalized. It's a cool-looking vehicle.
The design is growing on me. The wheel arches are a bit weird, but the back is not as bad as I initially thought, although the opening is a bit tighter than it should be given the size. The interior is a serious upgrade over the EV9. Question to Motoman: Will this have V2H/V2G for home back-up, paired with something like the DCbel bidirectional charger?
See the example Stellantis set with the Waggoneer in terms of size of the vehicle price and in the end Sales or lack of them. Yeah the elephant in the room is BEV vs ICE but I think you get it...
The over sized pixels especially being white when off is off putting. Would you like the wheel well eye brows better if they hid the amber and red markers behind them like the EV9 grill trick? Please hide as well as my IONIQ 5, thank you. Great introduction and I agree in the price being much lower with top trims starting with a 5.
Take this tech and space, package it as a minivan that can seat 7 or 8 (8 preferred) and Hyundai or Kia can have my money... Make an option for cloth seats and I would pay extra...
No thanks! I will reserve my unfavorable comments! Enjoyed your presentation, well, done, thanks for explaining a vehicle, I wager, few, buyers will want?
Yeah eyebrows are my least favorite. Rear end I didn't link initially, but the production car front and back looks better imo. Those eyebrows tho... wish it could blend in, on the higher trim

About the question in the title... No, but it´s a nice car for sure. I almost would not pay that even for a Mercedes... only Porsche and.....that´s pretty much it. There are way too many Panameras and Cayenne in the second hand market for that price and yes, i just gave an answer nobody really cares for. 👍
Glad you brought this up. Just wrapped up World Car Test Drives this week and we drove the latest crop of Chinese competitors to this. Short answer: There is a MUCH bigger story than money. Especially when you are talking cars in the this class. The Chinese competitors are paint by numbers. The have a lot of the features cars like these do. Some of their designs (MG) are decent. However, they don't come together. Especially driving. Add to that a hard fact that I am coming to realize: We are reaching peak new brands. A topic I will cover in a future episode.
No way this guy just said this would be a Tahoe competitor 😂 the lot of you are too comfortable comparing these tiny vans to a body on frame vehicle 😂 sick
Absolutely did. And yes, the Tahoe at the like are real off roader. That said, here's why: The vast majority of folks that buy Tahoes et al do so to cart people around. VERY few of them go off road. Hence, they cross shop against Grand Highlanders, Palisade, etc.
@ i understand what your saying but the competing vehicles you named are more in line with a Chevrolet traverse .. even then, they fall short in terms of size and for some ( equipment).
@@rtcturnemup7028 Not all body-on-frame full-size SUVs give u more space than midsized crossovers, and even then they only give u more cargo space compared to much better passenger volume.
