Happy to help, Thomas! By installing your lights this way, it'll also reduce the glare you're seeing when you want to look at your collection as well. 😄
Happy to help, Nosalis! I'm sure there are other ways to make it even better, but I figured I'd share how I was able to make it all work. Thanks for watching! 😄
Totally weird coincidence I have a detolf themed video scheduled to drop in a couple of hours!!! It’s about whether or not detolfs are actually any good!! 😂 Great video mate, thanks for this I will be following the guide for the dust proofing and those v-thingies!! 👍🏻🍻
@@Yaahzy1 would be tempted for moducases too but yeah you’re right the waiting times seem excessive (and I’m quite impatient 😅). Also they’re a bit out of my price range to be totally honest!
Great minds think alike my guy, haha! I’m about to check it out here in a sec for sure! Trust me man, the V-shaped channels are a god send and does a great job at keeping the lights on the figures and out of your eyes. You’ll see the difference! 😄🍻
Got mine all done and it’s looks amazing. One question thought, do u keep the lighting on 24/7 or do u turn them off during times of the day or when you are in your room? It said it had 25,000 hours of continuous use. Is that accurate in terms of longevity.
Happy to help! We've updated this video with a different set of lighting and how I redid the weatherproofing if you're interested. Thanks for watching!
I’ve never had issues with artificial lighting myself. Sunlight is definitely bad, but I’ve been collecting for 6 years and never noticed anything in terms of degradation from LEDs. 🤝
TLDR: It does. It isn’t 100%, but it works lightyears better than not having it installed. ------ By not working 100%, I mean if you don’t have it installed correctly. On 2 of my 6 Detolfs before making this video, I didn’t have the weather proofing flush against the door on one. On the other, the Detolf leans a bit so the door isn’t always closed to flush itself against the weather proofing. I’d definitely recommend it if you’re able to.
I appreciate this and also the amount of work you went through, can I ask you one question? Any reason you didn’t just run wireless led lighting and avoid all the work and hassle running wires everywhere and then having to tuck it and hide it all? I just got my first detolf and am currently searching all my options for lighting setups, and in my opinion just for me i think wires look kind of janky I mean no offense to you and the job you did just for me I want something completely clean, simple, and hidden so I am leaning towards a wireless setup but it seems like almost everyone runs wired setups, is there any cons to wireless that I’m not aware of?
I’m not 100% sure what that piece is called, but it’s included in the box when you purchase a Detolf. You’re referencing the plastic angle pice to help anchor the glass door in place, right?
Thank you! I've not noticed a change at all myself. The glass appears the same to me, but I do feel as if there are inconsistencies when putting them together than the last ones. The older versions were straight to the point to build and came out the same. These feel like more attention is required to get them leveled appropriately. Other than that, quality's the same! 😄
@@BostonCollectors ah okay thank you for the reply, much appreciated! 😁 kind of sad IKEA raised the price for them it’s like $158 after tax here per piece
I'm certain it was the 0.35 x 0.35, but Amazon doesn't appear to save that information in their order history or emails sent. Based on the price in the email though, the size I mentioned lines up with it. Hope that helps!
If it helps at all, you can copy and paste this into Home Depot’s search bar: Commercial Electric 12 in. LED Linkable White Flexible Tape Under Cabinet Light Kit (4-Strip Pack) Hope this helps!
Oh wow... No, they always come with the feet. It's even shown in the instructions. Has it been over 30 days since you grabbed them? If so, it might be too late, but it doesn't hurt to contact customer service and see if they can help you out.
@@BostonCollectors yeah it’s been way over 30 days. I just have mine flat on the floor, but I always thought the risers were a separate purchase. They would def help me since my switches are hanging out and ugly looking. I’m probably going to build riser storage bins, and set them on top of there.
I’ve had a hell of a time lighting. Loved to see what you use and how you segment the lighting in more detail.

Thank you for the thorough breakdown of what you did, appreciate all these super useful tips!
Not a problem! Thank you for watching, Satya! 😄🤝
thank you for the video, this made it a lot simpler to figure out what could work well for the detolf shelfs

Good video! Will reach/ help a lot of people. Even people who aren’t collectors! 🔥
Ayyyyee! Good to see you still floating around UA-cam man! Appreciate the love and checking out the video! 🙏
This is the best tutorial on anything I’ve ever seen! 💯
Thank you, thank you! 🙏😄
Finally another certified Boston masterpiece

Glad it was helpful!
Great video for beginners! Love the format and very informative!

Is one roll of 0.35x0.35 weather strips enough for 1 detolf or multiple? Trying to figure out how many to order for 7 detolfs
This was beautiful thanks for the idea!
Thank you so much, Eden! Happy to help where we can. 😄🙏🏼
I have a Question about lights. I know that I have to cover my figures from sunlight. - but is there any issue with LED or artificial light?
I’ve never had issues with artificial lighting myself. Sunlight is definitely bad, but I’ve been collecting for 6 years and never noticed anything in terms of degradation from LEDs. 🤝
I never used weather strips do they actually work for making a shelf dustproof?

Great and helpful video! 🔥💯
Do you put the dust proofing on the top and bottom as well or only the sides?
Top and bottom as well, yes. Just flushed against the glass, but enough for it to close properly.
@@BostonCollectors thank you!
Great job man

Hello, what's name of transparent angle you put on your back of the detolf ?
I’m not 100% sure what that piece is called, but it’s included in the box when you purchase a Detolf.
You’re referencing the plastic angle pice to help anchor the glass door in place, right?
@@BostonCollectors yes , ok, i purchase it not New, maybe it's why i don't find it . Thanks for your answer !
@@azecece1 not a problem! Yeah, that piece is strictly used for helping you keep the door up to angle in. 😄

Awesome video! Also, is it true that the newer detolf glass are thinner?

For those who don‘t know there is a solution without the use of ugly cables inside. Just use the right frame for plus and the left frame for minus.
What size is the weather stripping
I'm certain it was the 0.35 x 0.35, but Amazon doesn't appear to save that information in their order history or emails sent. Based on the price in the email though, the size I mentioned lines up with it. Hope that helps!

what did you to cut the v shape aluminum panel
I used the hand saw I mentioned in video with all of the lighting accessories.
plastic footing breaks over time..dont use it to ensure stability
