I don’t think the lights are necessarily dimmed for lighter. What is happening, is the new version of the lights have the plastic round plate over them. Which is diffusing/separating the light to create a softer glow. It might be blocking a very minuscule amount of light, but overall it’s just the effect of those covers.
I own the same lights, what I do is I flip light strips and instead of having them pointing them down I have them pointed to the figures, that’s how I have them and they make a difference for me. So much better, I recommend you trying it and see if you like it
It really depends on how much work you want to do. I bought some led strips, wires and aluminum channels on Amazon and did the wiring myself. They are super bright and the wiring is cut to size so that eliminates that problem. I can share the parts list if you’d like.
I used to owe these lights (old version) BUT its too short for shelves, so I rewire the cable to be longer. However, the plug getting very hot when I turn light on and some light bar keep to fall because its too heavy for the tape. In the end I have to throw them away. Also, the tape may damage the wooden top of detolf if you decided to remove the light again.
@@KeCoCollects such a great purchase. Not worrying about extra wires and comes with the right color zip ties to blend them in with the poles. Can’t say enough great things about them and I paired it with a smart plug to have my google turn them on and off without keeping them on 24/7
I can see the yellowing that you talk about, I've only been collecting 1/6 scale for a year now, and have no display cases yet. I'll eventually be getting Moducases but they sell the lights separately and I wonder if Moducase makes lights that fit detolfs? Hopefully that might be one way to do it. Joined your channel today and great job on the How to for dummies videos, cant wait to see your Jabba display
Check out lighting called Luke lights. I ordered mine off eBay for $30 and they are designed for Ikea detolfs. They come as four (instead of 6), and the wires hide well. Check those out. I used them for the 3 detolfs that I have. Started using those last summer and they look great and bright. I am enjoying your channel! Keep up the good work!
Doesn't look too bad now. Still has a lot of glaring though. I would look a Jedha's video about his lighting. He found a seller overseas that has an amazing lighting setup
You guys spend $300 plus on these figures and then go cheap in a lighting display. If you have the money to spend on hot toys, figures in bulk, at least get a high-end display set with lighting included.

Interesting!
I’ve spent hours on this exact thing and omg I really love yours they look great!!
The cool white option is def the way to go
Indeed! Much cleaner - I'm happy
@@KeCoCollects thanks for all the helpful videos
The new Elvis movie was 🔥 and I’ll tell ya, after storage; lighting is the next toughest for all of us I’m sure 😂 great video!
Ha! Saw it yesterday myself. Little long, but 4/5 👍🏻
I agree with you the white light looks better but the new ones are a bit dim. I think this looks better
That's to say the new lights are a go even if you're sacrificing brightness. The yellowing is not conducive to nice photos of your collection

@Peter Stark they come with double-sided sticky foam tape.
@Peter Stark hi bought double sided tape, it already comes with double sided tape but I decided to buy a separate one because the tape is see through.
The newer ones look nice
It's coming along!

Thanks for watching and the suggestion!
From the perspective on the UA-cam I like the new ones better....
I agree!
The new version looks better in my opinion, but still not enough brightness. Good luck on your final decision.
