the milling is different on all the ak frames. I had some mags fit tight in mine too. my buddy thought they wouldn't work with his so he gave them to me and I did almost the same thing to mine. now the work great. Thanks for sharing.
NO ! Stay away from TAPCO plastic mags. and stick to military surplus mags. for the AK. To the author, MAADI AK's are made to military spec. on Russian tooling, in military arsenals by military personnel. It's the mags. that are the problem, not the rifle. The BEST AK's ever to come into the U.S. came in before 1998. MAADI's, NORINCO's, and POLYTECH's all foreign military made in complete form. Not kits.
I like the Tapco mags...never had any problems with any of them, but I had to sand mine down as well because they were too tight. I also have steel mags that work perfectly. I think it's typical for the Tapco to have a tight fit and require some filing or sanding-- not a big deal.

Those are US Palm mags, great mags.
What grit sand paper did you use?
