This is the first time I've ever wanted to listen to the full song from a tutorial video. I've been listening to a lot of Bon Iver lately and this right here is on par with the emotions they invoke. Dude, I love ya. Keep on keepin' on!!!
The production quality in the DAW and in the video are top notch. Learnt a lot dude, thank you. Random request: Frank's Nikes at around the 3:07 mark (we'll let you guys prophesy) - do you think we could get a tutorial for that kind of vocal sound? I'd describe it as clean and ethereal, but also has some glittering reverb/delay in there that I'm totally lost on how to achieve. Thank you!
Thank you for watching! I’m trying to get back into videos hopefully I’ll have another one out this week. As for the Nikes sound, I hear what you mean about the subtle texture in the glittering reverb and whatnot. On the main vocal there’s definitely light autotune, I would guess a decent amount of lower end saturation. It sounds to me like it’s being fed into a delay chain, and then that delay chain is being sent into the reverb bus which has a substantial pre-delay, maybe around 50-70ms. If you’re looking for specific plugins, Frank’s producer Malay is known for using lots of Waves plugins. Try RVox for some color, and maybe the Manny Marroquin Reverb. I can’t guarantee that’s what he used but it might get you closer to the sound you’re looking for. Hope that helped!
@@goldfishfuneral Massively helpful my man, really didn't expect such a comprehensive response - going to play around with some of the things you mentioned. Subbed and will happily watch any future content you put out, as I'm sure tons of people would - have a good one!
For sure. It’s my grandmothers piano that just happens to sound pretty cool to start with, it’s a super old kawai upright and the dampener pedal darkens it a ton which is engaged in this recording. I stuck the only two mics on it that I had at the time, a warm audio WA47 inside the body of the piano toward the left side, and an SM58 toward the upper keys. Pretty standard treatment just some eq and compression, only weird thing I did was pitch it up an octave on a send before it got to the reverb bus. Hope that was helpful! Thank you for watching
JESUS. that was incredibly beautiful i don't know how you just casually hit us with that
😔💓
