The title sounds like it could be a masterpiece. DWJ does have an energy within his art that makes his comics flow and look like a movie - just got done reading the first Transformers TPB and it felt like it could replace or be an alternate version to Michael Bay Witwiki film(s).
I do think the term mid is probably overused at this point, THAT being said, I do appreciate and respect your take on this. This idea holds a special place in my heart for personal reasons, but I do hope that the next few issues flesh out this idea a bit more.
I thought it was pretty clever to have Rossmo tackle the “fantasy” world and have DWJ tackle the “real world.” I think that is why they made sure to include that split on the first page (third panel is DWJ art). Meant to be potentially jarring & confusing/intriguing? Rossmo has a great cartoony style that adds to the fantastical while DWJ’s art hits home on those last few pages. It did take me two read throughs to appreciate it more but I agree it could’ve been a stronger start. Ultimately, I imagine this will be a better read once collected.
Dang bro, that title is crazy. Personally, I didn't read it because I'm not a fan of Riley Rossmo's art (I hate it honestly), though I like DWJ. I saw a bunch of positive reviews, brave of you to not go along with the flow lol. I mean, I get it's stylized, but still. I also associate his art with that Tim Drake comic, so yeah. I mean, maybe this is trying to get him away from that image, but still.
Ah, dude. You're harsh but fair. I still like that art you showed. But I get what you're saying. It's the little things that make a big impact. Maybe they'll be better in issue 2:)
I haven't read the comic book myself, but the art style seems a little cartoonish to me. That's fine for certain genres, but I think it would take me out of the story DWJ is trying to tell here. Just a personal taste thing. That said, I enjoyed the review as always. Thanks!

I also wasn’t crazy about the artwork. A 6/10 for me
