oh this is a really impressive run! i notice you're running power prolonger-do you know if it affects savage axe phial consumption? i know it affects things like red shield and sword charge.

Yes it does affect savaxe axe fial consumption, without it you have 12 second before losing one with level 3 you bot yourself 20 or more

@@jeandepierre5557 thank you! i realised i could test this myself and did so afterwards. if anyone's interested, it looks like the standard extension of 40% applies, so for impact phial savage axe, the 12 seconds per phial goes up to 16.8, and for power element phial, i assume it would go from 18 seconds to 25.2.

So am I straight up using CB wrong when I do AED and SAED? Should I literally just be charging my shield, getting savage axe, and just beating the shit out of whatever is in front of me? I feel like I have such a different playstyle and idk why

both playstyles are viable! speedrunners will use savage axe, aed, and/or saed depending on the monster matchup as well as their particular strategy. savage axe also buffs your aed and saed direct damage, so if you haven't been using it until now, feel free to try it out!

There are a few different playstyles to charge blade, SAED is a very valid playstyle. However, against big monsters, with big hzv's, SavAxe with upswing downswing spam gets you the most damage possible. Some CB players like chaining together guard points with SAED spam and that's just fine.

3:47 I hope someone can answer this but I noticed that he rolls and completely dodges through the whole attack & takes no damage when behemoth does that tail spin attack, does this mean that with the correct timing, that you can dodge any monster attack and take no damage without a mantle?

You can dodge the vast majority of attacks without taking damage. Some can't be dodged, though, like Behemoth's Ecliptic Meteor attack.

​@@macncheezitz1044 To add to that, some monsters attacks cannot be dodged through without Evade Window since the i-frames you get from the dodge (~4 frames on normal roll + 1f per each lvl on EW) are less than the amount of frames the monster move is active. Most of the time your best bet is to try to keep some distance against big attacks or learn where some moves hit, since for most attacks, not all the monster body becomes a hitbox and you can easily roll beneath them or into another body part to completely avoid it
None of this works on novas tho, if you see a nova just run away, run for your goddamn life. Or just superman dive, I couldn't tell you about the exact number of frames, but it has ~1.5s of invincibility so it's always a good idea to sheathe your weapon and throw yourself at the ground as hard as you can
