  • Alcohol ink tutorial in real time.
Real time tutorial for alcohol ink beginners / artist who like to watch the whole process.
As you can see in the video I didn't start this piece quite the way I had planed... But I know from experience that with alcohol ink you can always keep working - always chance it, hopefully for the better.
The way it looked right at the beginning of the video is actually a really good way to start a piece. Put down some random spots of ink and start adding more alcohol to create new shapes, fades, wispy stuff or what ever you feel like doing. I start at least half of my alcohol ink paintings this way.
The reason why I think this is a good way to start a piece this way (also if you are very new to alcohol ink) is because we often don't need as much ink on the paper as we think we do.... sometimes less is more... so that one spot of ink you put down, can easily be turned in to 3 new spots of ink simply by adding more alcohol - also making it easier to create something wispy if that is what you were going for.
I'm pretty happy with how this alcohol ink painting ended up.
The colors I used were Copic cool grey no 7 and Ranger Currant. These two colors go so well together, I absolutely love them. There is sort of a softness to them when used together.
I thought of using silver, which I think also would have looked really good - but still happy I went with Pinata brass - looks good with almost all colors if you ask me... lol...
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and hope some of you liked the "real time". (and all my talking and "thinking out loud")

Hello Randi, I am a beginner & really impressed with the use of your fingers to move your ink. I realize that you have a lot of experience with alcohol ink but I would love to learn your technique. I am trying to find my niche and you are very inspirational with your work. I seem to want to do everything but this is a challenge and I like that being able to have control. Thank you for your videos and I will be watching more. Your channel was recommended to watch.

I do that all the time 😀 You could also use a tiny brush for blending.
      Happy you liked it ❤️

Love the colors in this piece! When I get a “Hell, no” piece, I need to put it away for a bit before I can come back and rework it.

Thank you 😊 always a good idea to give at little time before trying again. Sometimes “hell, no” pieces end up the best ones 😃

The great thing about alcohol inks is you never really know what the end will look like until you see it. I love the process! It turned out beautiful!

Hey Randi, your work is so beautiful! I have a question; for the Copic Cool Gray C7, you're using a Copic Ink Refill, right? Do you know where I can purchase that? Or is it possible to use a Copic Marker?

    • @randihart5731
      @randihart5731  Рік тому

Thank you 😊 yes copic alcohol ink is called ink refill. Where to buy…. Depends on where you are in the world, but usually Amazon has them.
You can use copic markers, it’s the same thing- just draw on the paper before adding alcohol

Hello Randi! I’ve tried many papers and none of them worked well cause there were always stains… I’ve tried to find Nara in Europe but it’s almost impossible. I only found small ones but not even an A4. Where can I buy Nara in Europe? Thanks in advance for your answer.
