i was departmetn of army (DoA) civilian in Afghanistan. met all personnel young and old (adults). Met two personnel retired but had attended USMMA...cool/good guys. one had traveled the world...marine engineer...unique and "niche" academy. and could track for CG or Navy if one wants...
All graduates are commissioned as (Reserve) Ensigns in the Navy's Strategic Sealift Officer Program. Many also apply for (and receive) active commissions with any the five armed forces. Those in the civilian sector must get their job approved by the Maritime Administration and must keep their USCG licenses valid for at least six years after graduation.
Those of you talking shit.... Don't you want well trained individuals on cargo vessels? This is not the military or pretending to be your military. They are teaching young folks who've never been away from home how to be an adult and take on the duties of a sailor.
